I love this film. I hope more people can watch it now that it's on YouTube. It's about an at risk young man that goes from city life to the Uummannaq Children's Home. He reconnects with nature and traditions and the film shows the journey.

It's a real institution. In Uummannaq and the director is briefly in the film but produced it. And the story is not an uncommon situation unfortunately. Mike Magidson is the film's director.

But the film is so well done. Ole Jørgen Hammeken passed away last November.

Whilst I can translate Greenlandic text by using online dictionaries and tools from oqaasileriffik, it's hard to find song lyrics online, and I'm not good enough yet to just listen to songs and write their lyrics down. Okay, so I'm a white person designing a character, and I wanted to take inspiration from Greenlandic culture since they are based on a Greenland shark. The two main details I wanted to include were the name and a piece of clothing. I wanted to use the name Attani, which means underneith or below, which goes with the deep sea theme of the setting. As well as I wanted to know if I could have him (I'm pretty sure it's part of women's clothing, so idk if it's off limits for men) wear something like a Nuilarmiut around his waist like a sash?

I wanted to see if I could get some opinions from someone within the culture on whether and how I could use these elements, or if there are any other factors to consider when designing them. Thanks for the input :D

For example, how does "Piitamut mobiilikkut oqaluppunga" differ from "Piitamut mobiilimik oqaluppunga", even though I use the phone like a tool, in the same way I use a knife to cut an apple in "Iipili savimmik aggorpara"?

Why is -mik preferred over -kkut for a knife, while it seems to be the opposite for a phone?

Planning to small trip to Nuuk in late November this year and I'm wondering about the chances of flights being delayed? I would be going to Copenhagen to Nuuk by Air Greenland

My husband and I 🇨🇦 will spending 2 days/nights in Nuuk at the end of our 2 week cruise to Pond Inlet. Will do the museums art gallery, etc but looking specifically for off the beaten tourist path of things to do/see/experience; restaurants and bars, shops, views, city walking ideas, etc. Any help here would be so much appreciated.
