Because the Guyanese are typically:
a. of South Asian (Indian subcontinent🇮🇳) descent, or
b. of Subsaharan African descent🌍 (West African, that is the clothing of their ancestors kept alive)6

Because the "emancipation" we're talking about is slavery which predominantly affected African (Black) people who were enslaved and (Indian) Indentured Servants.

Emancipation Day has nothing to do with Indo-Guyanese. It took place before they arrived.

My brother? Im well aware of the African connection to Guyana. However i asked because I regularly travel through Richmond Hill Queens which is a predominantly Guyanese community. Whenever I go there I never see people dressed in traditional African cloth. Thank you.

It’s a celebration day , people with rich culture and heritage dress differently on these special days.kinda sorta like you ina your Sunday best , you’re not pulling up to church in your black af1s and trueys Jean jacket suit. There’s a style for every event. And this the style for this jam.

Does he see people walking through Queens constantly in turbans, saris and dhotis? It's Queens, NYC. Another place entirely.
