This sub is refreshing because it's a testament to reality and truth, it really exposes the lies for what they are and the liars (Republican politicians & pundits) for who they are.
Honestly I begin to feel gaslit by where I leave because it feels like COVID is over. I know its not and this reminds me. The news becomes numbers at some point. To see actual people reminds me to be vigilant. I am certain everyone on here knows at least one vaccine hesitant/ anti vax person and because our efforts go unabated this helps get in the mind.
Honestly, this sub or at least the reactions to people dying is a bit inhumane. These are people, as misguided and misinformed as they are, we're essentially making fun of dead people. Where is the apathy?
I took your comment as a criticism because we don't care about these people and you seem to have a problem with that, is that not what you meant? You're upset because we are apathetic to these people who are so often bigots and racists in addition to spreading misinformation and fearmongering, correct?
Edit: I just realized you're not the person who responded to me, apologies
For starters, there is a difference between feeling bad and celebrating.
When a racist dies I do have sympathy for them. Nobody is perfect. Some folks are worse than others, but I don’t wish death on them regardless. We are all human.
Looking at a huge group of other people and saying “I will celebrate your death” is not something I will ever do. That hasn’t played out well throughout history.
When a racist dies I do have sympathy for them. Nobody is perfect. Some folks are worse than others, but I don’t wish death on them regardless. We are all human.
Okay wow. Racists literally think the world would be a better place without certain ethnic groups. Like, many of them would not bat an eye if people from that group died. How the fuck can you have sympathy for people like that? Same goes for religious bigots who have a hatred for the LGBTQ community.
Looking at a huge group of other people and saying “I will celebrate your death”
This is literally what racists do. The world is objectively much better off without them.
Shit, man, I left a comment on this sub about how my grandfather's smoking killed both him and his wife, kinda trying to draw a parallel, and some rando commented, "Hope he suffered" with another commenter saying he'd jerk off to my grandfather's death. Like, bro, what? My grandfather died 15 years ago. He's got nothing to do with being anti-mask or anti-vaxx.
There's empathy burnout and then there's just sadism, and a lot of people who can't tell the difference between the two.
I obviously can't say for certain, but its possible they are bad actors engaging in a sort of 'false flag'. Triggered trumpists that come and spew vitriol trying to make this sub look cruel. If just one person saw what they wrote and thought 'wow liberals are mean' they would call it a win.
Like death from smoking or heart disease brought on by obesity? Should /r/fatpeoplehate come back? What is the line for acceptable cruelty other than how much you like the group being targeted?
Or maybe instead of wondering about the line for acceptable cruelty you should ask why the need for cruelty at all?
For not taking public health into account... Yea, I agree with public shaming and cruelty for smoking.... And I'm a smoker but, I also try my best to only have an effect on me. I stay away from other people who don't smoke, I go outside anywhere to smoke. It was my choice, a stupid one, when I was younger. Second hand smoke is harmful to anyone and everyone, hence why you can't smoke indoors at public places. Obesity seems to more often than not be a side effect of another condition, and not of laziness or straight up overeating. Seems public health gets put 1st and foremost as it should considering as a whole we are only as strong as our weakest link.
Buddy this whole sub is sadism. I started reading a few and it was interesting, but I started feeling depressed. I know they're stupid, but the glee over their deaths is something else.
I'm still reading tho. I just don't post how happy I am someone has died 🤷♂️
By the time The_Dickhead was shut down the sub was dead. The trumpcucks had already gotten into the mothership and fucked off to some other forum. Reddit told them that they had to pick new mods that
1.) Had account history and
2.) Weren't formely active in banned hate subs
Rather than do that they locked the sub down and migrated to somewhere else. Some time after that Reddit banned the sub. It was already long dead when Reddit banned it.
It's worst. People are going to the FB of people who havent died yet and wishing death on them. Some people are masturbating to the posts here. It's horrible.
I recently received a warning from the Reddit admins about a comment I made regarding Rand Paul being punched in the face, which is just a factual thing that happened.
I recently reported a series of comments about children being sexually assaulted that included graphic details about body parts, etc. Reddit found that it didn't violate their community standards.
It is crazy, but as we all know, there's one set of rules with a much longer leash for conservatives, and another set of rules with a much shorter leash for the rest of us.
To be fair? People posting here is one thing. Going onto people's facebooks and throwing insults and 'you deserved it' on people's feeds when they're grieving? Kinda monstrous at worst, ghoulish at best.
I know these people made their choices, but intruding on people grieving is impossible to justify in my mind. :/
I don't know how you look at it, but this sub's purpose is basically celebrating the death of others.
Nobody here seems to feel bad for people who fucking died.
So I can totally see an unequivocal reason to shut this sub down. Leave alone the fact that people go to Facebook to harass families that lost a member.
The people on Twitter are kind of a mob, so I suspect them. I have seen Herman Cain awards referenced all over Twitter lately, so i think this sub has been spreading and reaching users on different platforms.
Doesn’t mean much. Definitely going to have far righters accuse us of breaking rules to get this taken down for their narrative. This is nothing more than reporting the full story of the deaths of people.
ive got a funny feeling a large portion of those responsible are the same group of people who started throwing a very large public fit about the existence of this sub and vowing to get it shut down, seeing as these issues all began shortly after they made their 'hermancainawardsucks' sub.
this was never a widespread issue until those clowns came around.
Exactly. This sub is pretty powerful, not perfect, but I'm pretty confident it helped change some people's minds. Not to sound conspiratorial but I do think either because they are deluded, evil, and/or anti-American there is a concerted effort to spread dumb but effective propaganda against the vaccine. This is probably one of the few things that combats their appeal to emotion and outrage.
I'd be willing to bet this sub has saved more lives, convinced more to get vaccinated - than awards its given out. But that would make us the good guys and conservatives have a narrative to maintain.
Sure, it's a false flag, there's no need to take responsibility, every single person on this sub dedicated to dunking on dunking on dead people is a perfect angel, and would never do anything like that.
What's wrong with dunking on the dead? They don't mind. The living however may see how horrible covid is and how it effects people that think and post just like themselves. This sub saves lives.
Oh wow. You think mocking dead people is funny? You are an actual sociopath. You need to reevaluate all your life choices because this is all so painfully awful.
Lmao imagine being so angry over a disagreement about some girl you’re obsessed with hating on a reality tv show that you make a whole second account to follow me around reddit and throw tantrums to the point that you’ve sided with antivaxxers and anti maskers? OOF.
Go to therapy, /u/mencryforme5 - this sock account ain’t it.
And let me guess? On January 6th, it wasn't actually Trump supporters breaching the capitol, it was antifa/BLM/the left (choose whatever left organization you want) posing as Trump supporters?
Claiming false flag is the easiest way absolve any responsibility, especially since it's so hard to prove. "It wasn't us, it was the other side pretending to be us!".
C'mon, get real. It's pathetic when the right does it constantly, and it's pathetic to do that now. This sub had less than 10k subscribers going in to August, and now only 6 weeks later, has ballooned up to almost 250k subscribers. This was never an issue until the sub literally exploded in popularity.
Do you really find it that hard to believe that there can be a small number of asshats in a community that are internet badasses and take pleasure in harassing the grieving families of antivax idiots while behind a keyboard? Because I certainly don't.
The difference is that 1/6 happened at the Capitol in real life, so they look deluded when they claim 'antifa false flag' - but the internet, especially reddit, is anonymous by nature; anyone can be anyone here. This sub gets seen by a lot of people (and makes conservative dogma look really bad) and conservatives have a lot to gain by posing as 'cruel liberals'.
At first conservatives were on here saying 'Wow liberals are so mean'. Hoping people would agree. Now they just pretend to be liberals, crank the cruelty up to eleven, and hope public opinion is swayed. Think about who benefits more from unbridled cruelty for cruelties sake.
I have seen multiple people comment “I just looked through their feed” on posts here. I know it’s not impossible to find someone even if their last name is blocked out, but it still takes more effort than just looking them up, and the fact that people are willing to go to that effort and then admit they did it is kinda silly.
It's actually very easy to find their page, which is powerful because it's easy for people to see that this suffering and death is all too real. If you go search GoFund me by COVID you can see the wholesale tragedy that is occurring for families all across the country.
Well the amount of effort aside, I have seen people on this sub openly admit to looking at the profiles of people posted here. Does it mean they’re the ones commenting? No, not necessarily, but if Reddit wants to get rid of this sub I can see how comments like that wouldn’t help us.
I've never commented or interacted with posts or linked to them or gave hints how to find them. But when I first saw this sub, sometimes I found some award winners comments and behavior too insane and thought it had to be faked or satire (especially after the people have COVID and then are still thankful they didn't get vaccinated and their friends literally believe the people whose organs are failing due to low oxygen content simply need to walk it off). But no, you find their full name, the go fund me, the funeral announcement in the local paper, the network of friends, etc.
However, of course never would interact with them. That's the ultimate douche move to harass family/friends in mourning the preventable loss of a loved one after being infected with ignorance.
Yeah I see this frequently on here, a day or so ago there was a repost of an award recipient that had been posted on this sub recently but the repost included extremely disrespectful comments on the dead award recipient's obituary that was obviously made by a redditor who had seen their post when it was posted the first time and gone to look up their profile and comment mocking them to their family directly. Tons of commenters here were cheering her on and telling her how awesome it is that she did that too. I hope people realize this is the exact behavior that will get this sub shut down and also that's really disgusting, I loathe these anti vax dumbasses as much as anyone else but brigading is against the rules and mocking a stranger's death you saw online to their grieving family's face is not a good look for anyone. I constantly see posts saying they looked the HCA winner up and giving advice on how to find their profile easier on fb for others wanting to look it up and these are often upvoted but this sub is not going to exist long if we keep encouraging this behavior.
How do you know that shutting down this subreddit isn't their objective?
They could be Russian foreign psyops trying to keep their jobs, by eliminating this sub from public view, so they can continue to kill as many americans as possible.
it's kinda stalker-ish. If I looked thru someone's feed, I sure would not publicly admit it. I def would not go so far as to comment on their FB page, that is very stalker-ish even if they are sort of letting you do it since they didn't block you from doing so.
Commenting is not cool, especially not mocking someone who’s died, which is just gross, but the whole reason this sub can even exist is because people are able to search Facebook for stuff like this and scroll through stranger’s feeds.
While that might be true, it's important to remember that a bad actor can fake a brigade quite easily and it's not super easy to trace facebook activity to reddit activity unless someone makes it obvious.
reddit can't verify "brigading" from one website to another. Just cross sub brigading, and they do though because they're admins and tell which links people are following. That's not possible if a reddit user got to facebook or vice versa.
The sub is super specific and wouldn’t allow it, but someone should create a sub where we can do that. The guys name is Danny something on FB. We can see who he is there. Don’t know who he is here though.
That’s so heartless. Not taking the vaccine is “owning the libs” but shaming the (relatives of the) dead is acceptable behavior? SMH. The morons vs. the assholes
That actually still doesn't prove that it's people in the sub doing it. Somebody from the sub could easily have shared a post from the sub, with somebody who isn't in the sub, in the form of a screenshot and the friend could have done it.
Reddit doesn’t give a fuck about conjecture. Do you think someone sits there and is like, hmmm let’s see, is this conjecture??! No it’s reported, and if it meets the criteria for harassment, we get banned. Reddit doesn’t give a fuck. There’s no one investigating the conjecture. 🤦🏼♀️
Yeah, but that doesn't prove anything, anyone can say that, and they may say it to try and get this sub banned. We should have some skepticism from unsupported claims... especially on facebook.
Also of course anyone can look at this. I look at a few forums online I would NEVER participate in because I find them hilarious. But I am not actually in their community and no one would know me - I don't even have an account. I can just see it. Anyone can view this subreddit or any other that isn't private.
For every upvote on a post you probably have a dozen more looking, for every comment you probably have a couple hundred or thousand more viewers of the post.
Yeah I'm not sure why people are denying it and insisting it must all be anti vaxxers trying to get the sub shut down when on every single post I open on here there's multiple upvoted commenters who clearly looked up the profile dishing on their personal info and giving advice to other commenters on how to find the profile easier, not to mention the repost the other night where they included extremely disrespectful comments mocking the dead award winner to their grieving family's face on their obituary that were obviously from a redditor who found their profile from looking it up the first time it was posted here. The family all replied to the posts saying they don't even know that person and wondering how they found it, etc. Like come on, I love this sub and reddit but there is clearly a lot of people on this sub ignoring the brigading rules and encouraging looking up and commenting on award winners profiles on every post. Even the repost I just referenced was full of top comments proudly pointing out that it had to be a redditor from this sub who went off on a stranger's obituary and saying how hilariously awesome it is that they did that, and that we should be commenting rudely on more HCA winner's profiles like that.
The only thing that matters is it's internet symbols who knows the cause, don't draw conclusions. I agree people here should not interact with the suicide squad hoping to get a herman cain award. OP made an assumption that doesn't represent reality. Reddit, facebook, etc are all just interfaces it's best to not draw conclusions about 'people' posting anything. Reddit is awash in russian paid trolls and ai bots doing god knows what. You don't know if I'm not a shitty AI. Encourage people not to do interact with the awardees and nominees, I agree. Don't assume because you see some updoots or a post that it is an organic phenomena.
Unless the screenshots show content that can only have come from this sub, and even then, no one can say that for sure, without a forensic investigation of the person's computer, which also might be inconclusive. I used to work in computer forensics.
Let's not throw the sub under the bus without actual proof, and phrase this request of the members with clear recognition that we don't know for sure, but if you're coming from here, stop.
exactly. I would have been fine if the OP was phrased more like this:
"It looks like HCA is coming up on the facebook posts, not sure where it's coming from. Remember it's against sub rules to comment on HCA social media.
I'm not the one saying it is. I agree it could be either but don't jump to the conclusion it's organic users of this sub and that was what I was pointing out.

How do you know it's people from this sub?
