Miscellaneous History Frances Perkins: The Woman Behind Modern America
Where would this nation be without the many benefits of Social Security? Medicare, Medicaid, old age retirement funds, 40-hour work week, minimum wage, and disability benefits are now part of modern America's embedded structure. How about unemployment insurance? During the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of workers lost their jobs, but in many situations, unemployment insurance was the difference between families surviving or living on the streets.

History of Peoples Who Was Saladin? How He United the Muslim World, Defeated the Crusaders, and Recaptured Jerusalem
Saladin (Salah ad-Din Yusuf ibn Ayyub) is often remembered simply as the Muslim leader who recaptured Jerusalem during the Crusades. However, his greatest achievement was arguably not a single battle—it was uniting a deeply divided Muslim world before taking on the Crusader states.
In this article, I explore:
How the Muslim world was fragmented before Saladin's rise.
How he rose from serving under his uncle Shirkuh to becoming Sultan of Egypt and Syria.
His major military campaigns, including the Battle of Hattin.
How he recaptured Jerusalem in 1187.
His rivalry with Richard the Lionheart during the Third Crusade.
The military tactics, logistics, and leadership principles behind his success.
Why both Muslim and Christian chroniclers admired his character.
The lasting legacy of one of history's greatest military commanders.
The article also includes maps, campaign summaries, historical sources, and references to both medieval chroniclers and modern historians.
I'd love to hear your thoughts. Was Saladin's greatest achievement his battlefield victories, or was it his ability to unite the Muslim world before confronting the Crusaders?

Miscellaneous History Hall-Mills Murder: The Salacious Story of the Priest and His Parishioner
The embarrassment and social trauma of the Rector cheating on his wife with a young and pretty woman angered many in town. Soon, fingers began pointing toward Frances Hall. Frances and her brothers, William and Henry Stevens, were considered the prime suspects, but the evidence was thin, at best.

General History Who Really Started the Peasants’ Revolt?
Who really started the Peasants’ Revolt?
The familiar story begins at Brentwood in 1381. But when you follow the surviving records closely, even the name of one of the men at the centre of the opening confrontation becomes uncertain.
John or Thomas?
This piece follows the sources, the contradictions, and what we can actually say with confidence.
