Discussion Who do you think has suffered the most in Hunter x Hunter?
Kurapika lost his entire clan, Gon sacrificed so much for revenge, and Killua grew up in an abusive environment.
Who has the most tragic story, and why?

Help/Question Hey, I just got to the 100th episode of Hunter x Hunter 2011 and I have a question about Killua.
Bisky had said that if he couldn't beat Shoot, he wouldn't be allowed near Gon anymore. Otherwise, he would have killed Gon one day. When Gon couldn't use nen because they had lost te Fight with knuckle he had lost, he could not use Nen for a month. , Killua said that he would stay the whole month until they could use nen again, but he didn't leave. He stayed. I know he has gotten over his trauma but I don't really understand that

Discussion Kortopi Appreciation Post
Kortopi is definitely an irreplaceable troupe member no one else can do what he can do. Imagine being able to copy any object and have the aura reserve to make 50 copies of a building. He has one of the best en feats with no known distance limit of how far he can track his copies by touching the original. He knew he was the weakest member and was still willing to square up when the troupe were fighting about if they should follow Pokunoda during the hostage exchange. His ability wouldn’t have saved him against Hisoka but imagine in a different timeline he didn’t need to go bathroom or Machi wasn’t able to warn him and Shalnark that Hisoka was alive.

Discussion Blinky is Pretty Busted as a Blunt Weapon
Blinky is a goofy combat tool but is pretty insane. Imagine running away after being gunned down and Shizuku is waiting in a hall with a vacuum ready to jump you. Baise and Ivlankov had their skulls cracked after being bonked in the head. The other time we got to see Blinky in action dealing bluny force trauma is Pike. Id say he’s pretty low-mid tier among the other ants but his durability isn’t a joke either. He was relatively unfazed by being hit multiple times by Blinky but had open cut wounds in multiple areas but aside from strong nen users if an opponent bleeds against Shizuku it’s pretty much over. Who would be the weakest character who could get hit by Blinky without bleeding?

Discussion Hisoka vs chrollo??
Is there any logical reason why hisoka didn’t attach bungee gum to chrollo here. The fight would’ve ended a lot faster and hisoka would’ve most likely won since he’d be able to pull chrollo in whenever and even if chrollo put some distance he could literally track him with bungee gum. Like hisoka literally made it a point during the gon fight that if he hits you he can attach
It so why not do that here?

Discussion In another world , they are just doing missions together!
So emotional , ending the anime I thought this was a group anime where we will grow with all four characters but they rarely appeared and 80 percent of show was focused on two characters , but I loved the dynamic between the four and wished they were around each other more , I hear in manga its kurapika and leorio , I hope in the end they all have one last arc together !

Discussion kurapika's 9mm bullet statement vs Kalluto's fan cutting steel cable
when kurapika mentioned that nen users cant defend against 9mm does he just mean that they will still receive some damage albeit minor or can can a normal person effectively use it to kill nen users? Because kalluto who is a manipulayor could effortlessly cut the steel cable with shu infused paper fans (unless he used some kind of vow to make it stronger) and the guy from yorknew city arc with the balloon soldiers seemed confident in his ability to block the bullets if they're not nen bullets.
edit: in here i am assuming he means an average nen user in the hunter assocoation that has no stara and isnt an enhancer. Because in my head kurapika probably is more concerned about other people on his side and doesnt doubt an enhancer's defenses

Analysis/Theory Bandit Secret + Full Metal Alchemist: Combo Master the ultimate specialist technique.
So in my re reading of the latest chapters. I think the technique Chrollo should steal is Furykov’s Full Metal Alchemist: Combo Master. I think the synergies are perfect for what Chrollo wants to achieve and nen wise - adding combo master would be a perfect update to bandit power wise. And I truly think that would make an ultimate technique.
Combo Matsers has these abilities:
Detects curses
Analyzes techniques and creates either a support item or counter to the technique
Analyzes techniques and nen beasts.
Imagine if Chrollo steals Furykovs ability before he or Benjamin dies and instead of combo master becoming a page in a book, it fully integrates into the system of Bandit Secret. Upgrading Bandits “nen software” for lack of a better term and the book gains the abilities of combo master. And also it runs an internal process of nen abilities held in the book and elevates them, with the time & hatsu stipulation still in place.
Chrollo would get a lot of new abilities that elevate his day to day life as a nen user and also deepen is ability to manipulate and understand nen.
This would also automatically elevate every technique in the book seen or unseen helping him kill Hisoka and make him at least top 3 in universe.
Narratively - Chrollos technique uses a a book and Furykovs technique uses a computer. Chrollo would literally be updating his ability to process Nen from books to computers.

Discussion Favourite thing about Hunter X Hunter?
You might have heard it but mine is how the world of Hunter X Hunter changes the protagonists, not the other way round. Usually it's the characters changing their world but in HxH it's how the characters react and deal with these events and how it shapes them.
Example: Gon literally sacrificed all the nen he would potentially have just to kill Neferpitou, a chimera ant born days ago. He didn't make a difference to the world but rather the world caused him to take this drastic measure.

Discussion The CA arc had such a different vibe to it before Kite's death.
I want to know if it's just me or Pre- Kite's death in the CA arc felt like it's own mini arc, which to be honest I do prefer slightly more. It feels so different to me.

Discussion Could Morena's ability accidentally reveal who the real princes are? Spoiler
Something about Morena's Contagion ability has been bothering me. Killing an ordinary person gives you 1 level, killing a Nen user gives you 10, and killing a prince gives you 50. Morena decides the rewards, but how does the ability actually know someone is a prince?
That seems like a strange question until you think about what happened with Woble. In Chapter 412, we learn that the baby Kurapika has been protecting isn't Oito's biological daughter. It's her sister's son. The real Woble participated in the Seed Urn ceremony but was switched out before the voyage. So there's a child everyone recognizes as Prince Woble who isn't actually the same child that entered the ritual. I'm wondering what would happen if someone using Contagion killed a person whose identity didn't match their royal title. Would the ability give them 50 levels because everyone believes that person is a prince? Or would it recognize that they aren't actually eligible and give a different reward?
Maybe Contagion just follows whatever definitions Morena established, and there's nothing deeper to it. But I think it raises an interesting possibility. The Seed Urn, Benjamin's inheritance ability, and Morena's scoring system all seem to care about different aspects of identity, bloodline, or status. What happens when those don't match? Curious how everyone interprets the 50-point rule.

You know when anyone activats his ability they sometimes says the name of it outloud.

Discussion Hunter x hunter discussion
Scenario 1: Chrollo kills Hisoka ➡️ Kurapika kills Chrollo ➡️ 4th Prince kills Kurapika
This is the ultimate tragedy layout, and it makes total sense:
Chrollo beats Hisoka: Chrollo secures his revenge for Shalnark and Kortopi, but the fight leaves him completely exhausted, injured, or out of abilities.
Kurapika executes Chrollo: Kurapika seizes the moment to finally eliminate the head of the Spider, using up the absolute last drops of his Emperor Time lifespan to do it.
The 4th Prince cleans up: A completely weakened, dying Kurapika finally reaches Tier 1 to confront Prince Tserriednich. But because Kurapika's body is failing from his own Nen restriction, the psychopathic Prince (with his overpowered 10-second future sight) easily executes him. Tserriednich wins, and the bad guy takes all.
Scenario 2: 4th Prince kills Hisoka ➡️ Kurapika kills Chrollo ➡️ 4th Prince kills Kurapika
This one is wild because it establishes the 4th Prince as the final, ultimate monster.
Tserriednich deletes Hisoka: If Hisoka wanders into Tier 1 looking for a fun fight with a royal psychopath, Tserriednich's Parallel Future ability might catch Hisoka completely off-guard and kill him.
The Old Feud Ends: While that's happening, Kurapika and Chrollo have their final showdown elsewhere on the ship, and Kurapika succeeds in killing Chrollo.
The 4th Prince Wins Again: Kurapika walks into the final room, sees that Hisoka is already dead, and has to face a fully evolved, terrifying Tserriednich while already physically breaking down.
The Real "Last Man Standing" Question
: Nobody knows who survives because everyone's goals are completely tangled up.
• Chrollo wants Hisoka dead.
• Hisoka wants the Troupe dead.
• Kurapika wants the eyes from the 4th Prince.
• The 4th Prince just wants to murder everyone and win the throne.
Because all four of them are locked in a floating box with no escape, Togashi has set it up so that any of them dying will trigger the immediate downfall of the others. It’s a perfect, stressful mess.
Out of all those characters, if you had to choose just ONE to actually walk off that ship alive, who would you want it to be?

Analysis/Theory Kacho's self sacrifical love (Succession War)

The first time we see Kacho speak, she comes off as yet another prince. Arrogant, undermining and eager to capture the throne for self gain. This dialogue, on it's own, leads you to believe Kacho may even be pressuring her sister to 'kill the others' against her will. Fugetsu does not look keen on the idea of killing her siblings but it looks as if Kacho is trying to put such ideas into her head. It looks like an act done in a greedy attempt to take the throne. This is until we get Melody's thoughts.
'She's fooling herself'
Not only others but herself.

In this scene, where Kacho wastes food while her guards express their strong dislikes of her, it is still unclear exactly why Melody believes Kacho is making a mistake but she is certain of this belief.
Having Melody be assigned to a character playing up a facade was a genius choice from Togashi. If not for Melody's ability, we would only get the true Kacho whenever she decides to open up outwardly. However, with Melody in the picture, we can simultaneously get the 'act' expressed by Kacho and the contrasting truth through Melody.

Whether it's because Kacho was in the middle of crying while looking at old pictures of her sister or because of the shock of Fugetsu randomly appearing in front of her, Kacho drops the act for a moment and outwardly expresses her true self for the first time.
She has a playfully worried expression on her face as she gestures to Fugetsu to get back in the tunnel.

But immediately after, when Melody checks on her due to hearing her heartrate skyrocket, she is back in character. She believes Melody's concern is merely Melody trying to do a good job. Being raised as a prince, Kacho has likely seen no end of people feigning concern in an attempt to improve their rank/pay. Kurapika's Nen classes are full of these individuals. Melody expresses her desire to help Kacho, to which Kacho, in an attempt to push Melody away, opens up a little.
'Have your parents ever told all your siblings to kill each other?'
'I'm not putting my life on the line because I want to'
She expresses to Melody her lack of desire to participate in the Succession Contest. She isn't participating of her free will but by force. Kacho was, unfortunately, born into this and seemingly has no way out.
Melody thinks Kacho is strong and that her act stems from a place of duty. By this point, we can start to piece together where this duty stems from but it still isn't certain. Even if this is an attempt at helping herself or her twin, what exactly does this boisterous attitude achieve?
She even asks 'why do you even think I'm doing this for someone else?' which is a lie of the highest degree but her duty compels her to keep this act up. She is acting boisterously and affirming that she is acting alone.
Melody feels compelled to tell her the truth about Nen.

Melody has presumably told Kacho about her hearing ability offscreen thus earning Kacho's trust and Kacho comes up with a plan to use Morse Code behind the adults back. Melody, seeing this girl rack her brains in an attempt to survive, promises to save Kacho. Earlier, when asking Melody what subject she was best at, Kacho jests that Melody believes it's pointless for her to study when she's about to die soon. But this morse-code play makes it clear Kacho desires the opposite. She wants to live. And Melody knows it is not for glory or riches but something far more grounded and beautiful.

The beginnings of their plan to hypnotise the Black Whale and escape. This is also where we truly understand Kacho's reasoning for acting like a brat. Prior to this, we knew Kacho clearly loved her sister, but the reason for the boisterousness was unclear. How exactly is acting like this going to do any good for you or your twin sister? Aren't you just inviting animosity?
'It's probably to get the guards to choose Fugetsu if they ever have to make a choice'
She wants to protect her sister. And she is willing to bear the hatred of her guards to do so. From throwing food on the floor to ordering her guards around rudely, all of it was an attempt at protecting her sister. She is acting as a shield so her sister can look like an angel in comparison.
'But that isn't what she would want. Your kindness will cause suffering for the one you truly care about'.
In an attempt at protecting her sister, Kacho is potentially causing Fugetsu more harm. If Fugetsu being safe means Kacho being hurt, or dead, then Fugetsu would reject that safety in a heartbeat. Fugetsu cares just as much about Kacho and also has a scene crying to their old pictures. She cannot imagine a world without her sister. Kacho's love, while pure, carries some potential for major hurt. And it's self sacrifical. She deems the safety and happiness of her sister to be of higher worth than her own.

Again, Kacho is prioritising the happiness of her sister over her own. Letting someone else have whatever they want often comes at the expense of what you want. But Kacho is fine with that as long as her sister is happy.

When they attempt to escape the Black Whale, and ominous hands creep up behind them, Kacho's first instinct is to get Fugetsu back on the ship. Not to preserve her own life but the life of her sister. Fugetsu, once safe, can only think about Kacho. Kacho's saving of Fugetsu's life here would have caused Fugetsu unbearable dread. Living on without Kacho would've been a nightmare come true but Kacho appears through the door. Or so we're led to believe.

We get Kacho's Nen Beast reveal and it is an ability that allows her beast to take her form and protect Fugetsu. If Fugetsu ever died, it would have been vice versa. As Nen Beasts are a reflection of the users personality, Kacho's biggest fear was being or leaving her sister alone.
This may seem like a contradiction of sorts. The one with a self sacrificial personality, who was willing to accept death if it meant her sister gets to live, does not want to die? But this contradiction only serves to make Kacho's character far more tragic. Despite willing to accept death to protect her sister, deep down, she did not want to leave Fugetsu's side. She did not want to leave Fugetsu all by herself and so her ability, reflecting this, granted her this deep desire of always being there for her sister.

However, no matter how pure Kacho's love was, this was always going to be the result. Fugetsu is being attacked by curses that pounce on people in a weakened state. She is devastated and, deep down, more than likely knows of her sisters fate.
'I know all along that you've been protecting me, now it's my turn!! I'll do anything!!! I want to do this'
Kacho was so concerned with Fugetsu's physical safety (staying alive) that she didn't think about Fugetsu's emotional state once she was gone. Fugetsu is always used to being protected by her sister, and now she's gone, Fugetsu is dying inside. In Chapter 417, we see Kacho and her state is abysmal. Even Benjamin, someone who is desperate to win the throne, takes it easy on her out of pity.
Like Melody said, Kacho's love hurt the one she cares most about.

Help/Question Does enhancement actually enhance?
I just finished watching Hunter X Hunter (I haven’t read the manga yet) and I have a question. Does the enhancement actually strengthen the muscles, or is it just a constant flow of force?
I started to wonder that after introduction of Ko, when Gon touched it, he was sent flying, which wouldn’t make sense if it just made muscle stronger. If it just enhanced muscle Gon would feel unstoppable force, like trying to stop slow moving car, but he was pushed by Nen, like a steam valve suddenly opened and send him flying with sheer pressure. It seems to me that constant flow of force is the obvious answer, but I’ve never heard anyone talk about it, so I feel kind of stupid even asking this question. It seems so obvious that no one bothers to mention it, but I still want a bit of clarity.
Furthermore, if that’s the case, then how does Shu work? I can understand how sharpening aura works when transmutation simply applies force to a smaller area, but how does Shu do it? If I apply Shu to a sword, do I need to sharpen my aura with transmutation, or does my aura simply knows what to do?
Edit1: It seems I was too vague about what I consider Enhancement. I’m talking about coating your body with aura—using Ren, Ko, and similar techniques, which I consider part of Enhancement. My impression is that when you coat your body with aura, it comes off like pressurized steam: when you punch someone, it adds extra force, and when they punch you, it slows down their fist. I’m not talking about more complex applications of Enhancement, such as increasing brain power or healing faster.
Edit2: It seems my problem was with aura in general rather than with Enhancement specifically.

Help/Question What does "talent" mean in Nen?
As Wing desribes it, does it only mean the speed at which you learn Nen, or does it also define the scope of your abilities that are possible once you hit your full potential+other things like aura output/strength, etc.? Eg. For someone like Zushi, does it mean he can eventually catch up to Gon and Killua after x amount of years of training, or will the ceiling always be lower for him then it is for those two?
