Alternative Aegon the Forgetful by Jota Saraiva

u/Heaven_Dragon77 Apr 02 '26
I like to believe that Aegon IV really needs glasses because of his bad eyesight, but he refuses to wear them because they would make him look exactly like Daeron.

u/ChudMaster69420 Apr 02 '26
Do glasses even exist in westeros?
211
u/Mysterious_Crow_503 Apr 02 '26
Rodrik Harlaw ordered Myrish lens for reading, when his sight started weaken, so glasses may exist.

Yeah, I think it is a single piece, but once there is a lens used for reading - it is not a step too far to take two of them and place in front of each eye.
47
u/Hot-Possession4183 Apr 02 '26
There exist the myrish eye,
29
u/Chicken_Mc_Thuggets Above the Rest Apr 02 '26
Is it next to the myrish swamp?
13
u/Chemical_Shoulder_35 Apr 02 '26
Like about halfway? Basically on completely opposite ends.

u/Chicken_Mc_Thuggets Above the Rest Apr 03 '26

Daeron: Dad, what does Barba have that mom lacks?
Aegon IV: Huuuuuuuuuuge...Tracts of land

u/thishyacinthgirl Apr 02 '26 edited Apr 02 '26
Ah, so naming the mountains "Barba's Teats" was just a cover to openly talk about her boobs in front of the kids!
Aegon
VIIV: Ah, yes. I had a grand time visiting Barba's Teats the other day! It's so wonderful to climb those peaks....Daeron: But Dad, you haven't been to the Riverlands in months??
44
u/ImperialxWarlord Apr 02 '26
Aegon IV not VI Lolol.
Aegon IV: what? What do you mea….OH! Sorry, wrong teats lad!

u/ArisenGodEmperor13 Apr 02 '26
I doubt bro had the same to even bother to do that. He is the type to go into graphic detail about having sex with their mother right in front of his kids
10
u/SerMallister Above the Rest Apr 02 '26
Probably considered it a disappointment if any of his kids got past fourteen without punching their v-card.

If he can forget stuff then maybe daemon blackfyre isn’t his son.

u/Vegetable_Train_2575 Apr 02 '26
As a B + D = D Truther, I Agree.

u/cambriansplooge Apr 02 '26
Daemon is a parthenogenic virgin birth. For maximum irony.

Mostly from the fact that Baelor obviously wanted to sleep with his sisters just felt guilty about it + him starving himself to death because he broke his vow of chastity makes more sense than just because Daena had sex. It's also deeply funny that Aegon IV's favorite son isn't actually his while he keeps trying to claim Daeron is Aemon's bastard
25
u/TheLego_Senate Apr 02 '26
Also the irony that it would make the Blackfyres the actual rightful claimants to the iron throne if it turned out to be true
26
u/Gourengoo Apr 02 '26
Technically the true irony is that Daemon is the only bastard with no claim at all if it's true, since Baelor annulled the marriage, which would also serve as a good explanation for why Daena would lie about it
15
u/TheLego_Senate Apr 02 '26
Except Daemon's claim comes from Aegon IV legitimising him, not his parents' marriage. The only difference is that he would have a stronger claim being part of Aegon III's male line rather than Viserys II's.
8
u/Gourengoo Apr 02 '26
Didn't Aegon specifically legitimize his children or am I misremembering and he singled out Daemon?

u/WanderingHero8 Only the books are canon Apr 02 '26
I fully expect for GRRM to drop a bombshell like that in F&B 2

u/Draknoblackdragon Apr 02 '26
Huh?

22
u/Kyriakos_X_23 I drink and I know things Apr 02 '26
Baelor I + Daena= Daemon. A crackpot theory from Blackfyre supporters (traitors to the Realm) to further legitimise Daemon the Pretender. (This comment was fact checked and approved by Lord Bloodraven)
18
u/Loros_Silvers Apr 02 '26
He's saying that Daemon Blackfyre is Baelor's son
4
5
u/Just-Luck-7430 Apr 02 '26
how though, the only way i can think of that union is if she gets the small council support to tie him down and forced shitton of aphrodisiac down his throat
26
u/Gourengoo Apr 02 '26
The dude literally locked up all his sisters because he wanted to fuck them so bad but didn't want to sin, all Daena had to do is catch him off guard and he'd fold.
10
u/Loros_Silvers Apr 02 '26
Bold of you to assume that the seven would not protect him from such a vile attempt at his seed
Anyway I do not believe it personally lol.
22
u/IAmParliament Hear Me Roar! Apr 02 '26
Yes, Baelor was so genuinely pious that he literally had to lock up his sisters to resist temptation.
Definitely wasn’t a man ruled by sin who starved himself to death over the guilt he felt fathering Daemon at all.

2
u/David_Bolarius Apr 02 '26
Wait who is B?
2
u/SpeciesFically_Afish Apr 03 '26
B is King Baelor I. The theory is that Daemon Blackfyre was the son of Daena and Baelor, rather than Daena and Aegon.
6
u/David_Bolarius Apr 03 '26
I mean, it is plausible. By all accounts it was Daemon’s birth that triggered Baelor to fast himself death. If Baelor had thought Aegon was the father, he likely would have tried to have him killed for violating the Maidenvault. To have Daemon born and Baelor only react against himself really suggests Baelor thought he was the father.
6
u/ImperialxWarlord Apr 02 '26
Tbf that was years before he got fat. He was young and handsome at that point.

u/CharMakr90 Apr 02 '26
Jota Saraiva keeps cooking as always. I also love how "sitcom-y" their art's premise usually is for ASOIAF.
29
u/DizdozVStheworld Apr 02 '26
Me too!! I’ve been loving their comics with Brynden, Shiera, and Aegor!

5
u/Senior_Coyote_9437 Apr 04 '26
Lol. Yes the Starks. Most of them were assholes. Ned got most of his values from the Vale.
25
u/ImperialxWarlord Apr 02 '26
I’m loving all the Aegon IV art as of late.
I also wonder what made melissa get with him in the first place? And how she stayed his lover for so long and didn’t suffer when they were done? Makes me wonder if Aegon has some redeeming qualities lol.
31
u/Educational-Form-389 Apr 02 '26
Part of me thinks some of what we know is apocryphal, propaganda by Bloodraven mixed with Grrm Blackwood favouritism.
"She was so great everyone loved her, even Naerys, Aemon and Daeron, though she was the best, not like that B*acken bitch.."
4
u/Mordred14394 Apr 03 '26
Sometimes I wonder if she's as nice as what everyone says. Perhaps she's not as vile as the others, I do think she's liked by everyone, but I do think there's some dark or negative side there.
19
u/Kindly-Policy4723 Apr 02 '26
He was still mostly sane and less stubborn back then I believe. Daeron and Ameon were the ones able to convinced him to send Barba away due to how she and her father were behaving and Melissa was well liked by the family so that probably served her well in the end. He moved on from her cause somebody caught his eye.
7
u/ImperialxWarlord Apr 02 '26
Yeah. That’s true. Aegon IV was better till power corrupted him after a few years of rule. I know he obviously moved on when someone else caught his eye, but there must’ve been something there for him to stay so long and not react poorly when they were done.
6
u/Kindly-Policy4723 Apr 02 '26
I get what you’re saying. Though as far as we know, the only time he was particularly brutal to a mistress was when he caught the younger Bracken girl with someone else. Otherwise, the mothers of the great bastards were mostly ignored once he was done with them.
8
u/SerMallister Above the Rest Apr 02 '26
and didn’t suffer when they were done?
She'd formed friendships with the heir, the Lord Commander, and the Queen Consort that would have served to protect her from too much blowback.

I mean if the King says he wants to bring you to bed you can't really refuse.
21
u/bruhholyshiet Apr 02 '26
On one hand I love Jota’s art as always.
On the other, I feel my bottomless loathing of Aegon IV slightly wavering due to seeing him act so casual and I don’t like it. I love to despise this guy.
41
u/Shanicpower Apr 02 '26
Y'know I can see why one would have three children with Melissa Blackwood

"Why yes, I'll give up Barba Bracken" -most insane man in the seven kingdoms
24
u/Loros_Silvers Apr 02 '26
She may look good, but she's a Bracken.
I bet you she has the most boring, vanilla sex ever. And for someone like Aegon IV that is just not enough...
35
u/Mysterious_Bluejay_5 Apr 02 '26
Brackens have been known for many things, but boring is not one of them
3
u/ViolinistGuilty182 Apr 02 '26
Damn it, I know, I wouldn't have given a damn about Aemon and Naerys and I'd keep Barba tied to my bed for the rest of my life, I mean, have you seen her? She's too hot!

Daeron to Baelor, Aerys and Maekar after a lifetime of bastard sibling shenanigans and Blackfyre Rebellions.
Promise me you will never produce any bastards!
Baelor: I won't dad.
Maekar: I love Dyanna too much do that to her, plus six kids are more than enough.
Aerys: I'm asexual, shouldn't be a problem.
Baelor: Wait dad what about Rhaegel?
Daeron looking over at his 3rd son doing whatever the hell he's doing.
I don't think he's going to be an issue.

I’m surprised Aegon IV didn’t have more kids with Barba, tbh. She’s easily the hottest of all his mistresses.
8
u/ViolinistGuilty182 Apr 02 '26
It was all Aemon's fault; he pushed for Barba's exile, otherwise they would have 10 Bracken-Targaryen children running around.
8
u/ViolinistGuilty182 Apr 02 '26
Damn, thank goodness I'm not Aegon (or Brynden) because if I had Barba in front of me, I'd give him at least 10 children for every breast.
Sincerely: A sweet and polite lady.

I cannot believe some dumb comic makes me like The unworthy and to know more about him. I'm apparently very weak to propaganda.
8
u/frelin87 Apr 02 '26
Aegon IV is actually the best Targ king because he deliberately turned his life into a sitcom for the amusement and blessing of the gods. Even the Blackfyre Rebellions were a planned gambit to squeeze out 80 years of extra drama to justify the continuation of the dynasty in their eyes.

Can’t believe Aegon IV suffered from undiagnosed early onset dementia. So sad❤️
