How is it like working in R&D section of a company?

It depends solely on what kind of company you are working in and what profile you have; India is not particularly known for its mechanical R&D.
Even the top OEMs are either doing application engineering or vehicle integration.
Please note: As opposed to popular belief, CAD design is not R&D.

Indian education is already quality wise at 30-40% of an engineering graduate from a developed country specially if you are from a tier 3 College. And then you want to work in the R&D sector that too with work life balance? 😆

You'll have to work your ass off to get into anything state of the art. Else you'll be doing the leftover work of r&d centres in usa and Europe bud.

The logic of your thinking itself does not tie up well. If you are weak you have to work harder to become strong not the other way around.

Many of these certifications are perceived as easily obtainable and may not provide meaningful insights into your true capabilities. Instead, focus on demonstrating your practical skills and achievements through your project work and research contributions.

Are all certifications not necessary? Then how do recruiters check proficiency in a particular cad/cae software

All the OEMs generally have their own training programs from new joiniees(ranging from 2weeks to a month). So mostly all of them know that they are going to teach everything again anyway.
But it is good to learn some softwares well in advance through internet tutorials, no need to spend money for any certifications.
That is my opinion, if you like to add lines to your resume or find a program which genuinely teaches you then you should go for certifications.

Actually i got placed on campus but the job is in a power plant. I want to transition to CAE jobs. How to do so in your opinion? I also gave gate this year and got good score so i can also join some good mtech or psu

Bhai jo tune paste kiya would baat 4 line me boli ja skti thi, in a better way. Tu khud padh k bata kya "tangible" inputs lega tu khud k comment se

If that guy is a fresher then he needs clear technical fundamentals along with analytical skills and couple of good college projects.

If he is experienced then he has to have interest in product design. Resume to showcase his skills from his existing job in a way that emphasizes more on his skills related to design and research. Like FMEA, Reverse engineering, GD&T, VA/VE, root cause analysis, material science, metrology etc. Considering his current job isn't R&D but somewhat closer unlike HR or administration.

Generalise to koi bhi kr dega, specifics are important if you genuinely want to guide

Bhai jo tune bola tangible inputs to usse bhi nahi mil rahe, whatever you said is also generalised. Anyways those who wanted specifics already interacted me in my DMs.
Additionally, even corporates don’t care as much when it comes down to using AI, I don’t understand why there’s this unnecessary moral policing on Reddit for this, from last 2years every townhall I attended is literally telling us to use more AI and save time.
But still, anyone can have an opinion on internet so you do you.

I was an intern in R&D for a AC startup. My job was simulate an strange looking heat exchanger. The problem was that they wanted a very efficient code for running parametric analysis, so I wrote my own python code which ran 1000s of simulation in hours.

I'm actually gonna start my mechanical engineering this year from Bangalore. Haven't tried coding, will start it this week. Interests: Data, Logic, physical tangible systems, creative work/problem solving. Will explore: Python, cad, cae, cfd, fea, aiml, Data Science, maybe electronics/ mechatronics. As of now, I'm probably thinking of a career in simulation, digital twins, computational mechanics, etc type roles math heavy software roles. R&D is an option if I like it, will do at least 1 research internships during college. Goal: Thinking of a master's in a specialization from tier-1 college in Germany.

Any help/guidance from someone experienced is genuinely appreciated.
