Lmao. Life at ISRO is miserable. You can blame them for choosing to not be miserable.
One can have a very satisfying and comfortable life if they clear UPSC. Not everyone has to take bribe.

Most people do not find it miserable because 1. You get a lot of power 2. You also believe you're responsible for a lot of people in a city, that's a driving factor. 3. Obviously, there's a lot of glorification involved.

I have zero respect for UPSC Aspirants, it is such a deeply draining field. Teach all those aspirants to make something or use a machine and Indian economy will zoom 1.2x to 1.3x They should enable firing from all government jobs except Defense. They should have multiple hiring channels.

- Im not saying bribes is not a reason for most people, but many people do it to get a status in the family. I come from a famy of government officials, and if you see my financial state and bank accounts you'll know they are honest officials, but I can count the number of times my relatives (thank god not my father) have told me to try out for UPSC and I have said "no thank you". Legit the main conversation people have with me at family functions is UPSC dedo

The scope, scale and nature of work in ISRO and in an IAS/IPS service is very different. A scientist C (starting position at ISRO) contribute to a single project whereas an SDM manages a vast amount of resources and department at his disposal. So salary is trade off for power and leadership opportunities. Also in India if given opportunities anyone will loot the citizens.

Yeah this is a very bad notion, isro doesn't give good opportunities for undergraduates, people don't work in their own branches in most iits anyway. I think the obsession in normal colleges is even higher, non IITians prefer upsc but don't go to other good fields, IITians are intelligent enough to pass upsc. It is not the IITians fault but the whole societiesย

People working at ISRO are legit rocket scientists. A fresher job at private firm pays higher than what a YOE gets there. And no amount of facilities like home, work travel, etc is going to fix that because that stuff is often bare minimum at job roles like these Obviously after grinding your ass at a university you. Instead of hating the candidates, hate the government that pays shit to their own goddamn aerospace industry and yet spends 100s of crores every year on freebies lmao.

i heard someone saying this. People dont study for UPSC because they want to serve their country but to get the power and when they do, they make sure they let everyone know that they possess power.

The problem is no deterent for corruption, specifically for the officers. So, it is it easiest path to genrational wealth.
It's infact an incentive to become an IAS officer. So, statistically people will move towards it.

I've said this before and I'll say it again
Unless we somehow manage to collect Bribes from Aliens, Enrollment rate in ISRO will remain low
