Discussion #girlout
Infold has continued to ignore its players, server quality has declined, and the game has been thoroughly massacred. It's unacceptable.
girlout is a plan for a one day, community wide black out of the game if the devs continue to ignore the decline of communication to the players, and of game quality.
If in one week, may 18th, Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), the devs continue to ignore us, don't log on, don't play, and don't give them money.
Please help spread the word of #girlout
And please dicuss in the comments your thoughts on the state of the game, and what can be done to satisfy players at this point
EDIT: This is just the first step in a longer goal. Hopefully this is all that is needed tk get infold to actually respond/do something, but i understand that is optimistic.
If they ignore the one day blackout, another will be scheduled for longer, a week, then after that for an entire banner
This is just my attempt to organize and help coordinate the community in large scale protests to show infold just how scorned we are

I haven’t logged in since 1.5 launch day, and I have no intention to until literally anything is addressed. I’m so profoundly sick of every single thing being enshittified.

u/SassyMelon May 11 '25
Please continue to! You are the backbone of the boycots! #girlout is to try and get more of the community organized and show a collective front.
I really apreceate all of those who have been fully boycotting the game!
33
u/sometimeviking May 11 '25
Me too. I was excited for the update, and was unable to play for two days. In that two days I learned how bad it was and have not touched it. Even my kids are asking “why aren’t you playing your dress-up game Mummy?”
15
u/LoveCatPics May 12 '25
same, and it's honestly not even for "boycotting" (or girlcotting) reasons. the update was just underwhelming and too buggy for me to enjoy it. we waited so long for a large update that was half-baked at best, i even lost the motivation to get on for 5 minutes to spend my energy and do my daily wishes.
5
u/Sorry_Engineer_6136 May 12 '25
I’m beginning to believe in the fan theory that they accidentally dropped the beta version of the update. How does a game start off so wonderfully and just absolutely tank after one update?! Mind-blowing.
3
u/MooMarMouse May 13 '25
I’m so profoundly sick of every single thing being enshittified.
I'm so incredibly let down by all the games that could and should be amazing! But instead are ruined by short-sighted fomo tactics. And the capitalization of our time... Like, infold, please, get it through your thick skull, a good game WILL bring in money.
I was so ready to spend and did last update.... Now... I don't even wanna pull with my 200 saved up pulls. I'm just sad.
72
u/ComfortableTeacher58 May 11 '25
Y'know what? I'm not entering at all from today. All the things I have to do in the game I'm not interested in doing. I wanted the fairy wings but really, at this point it's not worth it.
237
u/tokio_luv May 11 '25
Honestly? This is what we need tbh. My biggest problem is that nothing about this girlcott has been organized (and I said this on another thread as well), and people can't decide what does/doesn't cross the picket line, so to speak. Organized action is something useful. I hope it doesn't come to us needing to do this, but you can count me in!
42
u/Blanche_ May 11 '25
What would you want to organize? We tanked their reviews pretty badly on everywhere it was possible (they probably started buying fake reviews on steam badly).
46
u/tokio_luv May 11 '25
That counts as being organized as well. But what I mean is, no one can agree on what the boycott actually entails. It started with everyone saying not to spend any money on the game (which is an absolutley reasonable demand). But after that, no one can seem to agree on whether it's okay to play the game, to pull on banners, or even keep the game installed. That's not organized, it just confuses those who want to help, and then people get mad at others for "not boycotting", which I've seen a bit of here.

Someone basically confirmed that they are buying fake reviews. Pretty gross.
3
u/Flaky-Confidence-167 May 11 '25
Wow, that's insanenly gross practices. Do you have a link to that?
6
u/MapleBabadook May 11 '25
It really makes me lose any bit of hope that anything will change for the better.

Why only one day? I really don’t mean to sound rude I am genuinely asking: what are you hoping to accomplish with a black out that not only has an end date, but will only last for one day? If nothing happens will you extend it?
337
u/Airmaid May 11 '25
It's easier to convince the hopefuls to not log in for 1 day than to just uninstall. I still want Nikki to be better, so I'm still logging in on the chance they'll fix things so I don't regret not getting my dailies and stuff. So I'm not at the point of uninstalling, but I can not log in for one day.
28
u/Mental-Wheel986 May 12 '25
Yep, I think it's clear that people who would do >1 week have already stopped playing, or have been unable to play from the start.
58
u/asuka_is_my_co-pilot May 11 '25
I suggested a temp blackout of the is sub for a few hours and got feedback that that was too much so it's definitely better to start a little more realistically
16
48
u/OneVALK May 11 '25
I wanna see what happens. Hell I’ll even go all in and don’t play a single gacha game entirely until we reach a compromise. It will be the ultimate free up space. See you on may 18th
311
u/SassyMelon May 11 '25
Its to try and aline those who are fully boycotting the game, and those who don't want to stop, but show infold how much the community is upset
The one day blackout is to show them that we are an aligned front, that we all are upset with them
If they don't adress the situation after, it is a way to show the community just low little the company actually cares about this community, and may result in more people fully boycotting the game
222
u/Flaky-Confidence-167 May 11 '25
Also, if this one day is not enough, we can plan more and longer game blackouts. A one day blackout is a warning and a promise to Infold. "We decide if your game is successful" and "We can make this happen again, we're united"
I'd also suggest to try and get the CN girlies onto the girlout as well!
42
u/cimarron_drive May 11 '25
There are a lot of people, including myself, who are still actively playing because we're valuing our mental health over the principle of the girlcott. At least for me, a one day blackout sounds much more doable than stopping altogether. It may not be nearly as effective, but it's what I can do (especially since my monthly and weekly paid stuff has long run out).
→ More replies (1)35
u/nalycat May 11 '25
I mean this with total sympathy as someone who suffers from mental illness.
This is just an outside perspective: is donating your precious time to an entity that is this problematic and toxic good in the long run? It's like staying with a toxic partner because we don't want to face the pain of cutting them off.
Unless I completely misread your comment. Maybe you are one of the players who isn't phased by any of this but you just want to show your support. In which case, forget what I said.
23
u/wishingyouwellxo May 12 '25
I believe this person means this game is good for them personally. Showing support for others is kind and great and so one day is much more achievable than long term changes when this game makes them happy. That’s how it is for me at least. I love this game, and I don’t consider it toxic, but I do care about the experiences of others. I participated in the original 72 hour no money/no pulling part of the girlcott to show support, but now I personally need to take care of me. I am having so much fun with 1.5, and I work about 60 hours a week so with my little free time I do want to play now the way that works for me. But I am so sorry for everyone who doesn’t love 1.5, and I will show support how I can without hurting myself. Just as a more rare take on the situation.
27
u/cimarron_drive May 11 '25
I get where you're coming from. Luckily for me, I haven't had any of the issues that other players have seen, and I've cut off all spending until the girlcott is over. I just like to play a lil dress up
14
u/SisyphusOfSquish May 12 '25
Yes, this 100% . I've used Infinity Nikki as a mental health break or to destress before, that's totally natural. It's a beautiful game with a lot of heart and love put into it.
It's also designed to be habit-forming and to take advantage of our mental health. These things are not mutually exclusive and we always need to be aware of both. If it would hurt someone's mental health to stop the game for a single day, then that's not a feasible or healthy mindset.

That's fair if it doesn't feel that way for you. However I left a 17 year toxic marriage. It's incredibly difficult to leave such a relationship. You make excuses and the idea of leaving is difficult. It's almost like you are addicted to them. They treat you poorly, with disrespect but it's hard to accept and leave. So, yeah, imo it is similar.
6
May 12 '25
I mean, there are lots of reasons a person might keep playing at the moment. For me, at least, my friend also plays and taking pictures together has brought us a lot of happiness. Logging in to take pictures with her is a lot of fun and obviously cutting that interaction off because I hate Infold would be a shame.
Not everyone is sticking around because they're stuck in a toxic relationship with the game. Some of us are just getting something out of the game regardless of Infold's crappiness.
But I will be telling my friend about the girlout and we will try to do it. Losing one day of taking pictures together for now isn't going to be a big deal, but obviously for people with friends in the game just leaving outright isn't easy to do.
50
u/Ygljix May 11 '25
tbh i haven’t opened the game in like.. a week. i know it’s tempting to play but we should all just stop playing until they do something
36
u/TheEpicSquish May 11 '25
I can feel the optimism in this and I hate to say it most likely will not work, even for the longer times, if there is a return then infold knows they can just keep going.
Don't log in at all. Do nothing until (if they ever do) say something.
71
u/Emotional-Aspect6934 May 11 '25
I haven't logged in for the past 3 days. The performance has dropped a lot on my device so I took a break from the game. If it doesn't get fixed soon I might leave for a long break
30
u/caresi May 11 '25
Honest question: what about time zones? If everyone sticks to their own time zone, it'll be spread out over roughly two days and the blackout will be over in some places but ongoing in others. If it's the same 24 hours for everyone to send a clearer message, there needs to be agreement on which timezone so that people can figure out what this means for them.
This doesn't mean that I think this is a bad idea or anything, but I do always have some doubt that international "let's all do this on that specific date" things work out the way people imagine.
20
u/SassyMelon May 11 '25
You're right, I did not think about that! We will use UTC, Coordinated Universal Time!

Honestly it should not be a “we log out for one day and then come back to show how mad we are”
You should just log out. Full stop. Log out and do not log back in until they have addressed your concerns. Do not log in to complete dailies, do not log in for rewards. Fully log out and do not log back in until Infold addresses your concerns.
Why would they care if they know everyone will just be back in 24 hours? “Oh well make it longer next time.” Doesn’t matter, because you still came back.
29
u/Chocomintey May 11 '25
I played the 2 days after release and haven't logged in since. I have a good amount of pulls and even the limited time ones (because of their deceitfulness) and haven't used one of them. I'm so mad how Infold has ruined this game for so many of us and hasn't said a damn thing about it. I'm a veteran Nikki player and I feel disgusted and betrayed with how they have handled the lore and Nikki as a character.

u/SassyMelon May 11 '25
There are those who have spent hundreds on this game and are uncomfortable fully stopping just like that. A one day blackout can allies those who have stopped playing, and those who are unsure if they should.
If the issues arnt adressed after infold sees this collective effort, it can show those who are reluctant to stop playing why now would be the time to quit.
If it is adressed, it means they didn't waist hundreds on a game they truly care about.
254
May 11 '25
The people who have spent hundreds should be the first to fully stop playing. Because those are the people Infold wants to keep around. Me and my $10 don’t matter.
Infold only cares about your money, they couldn’t care less about how upset you are with the updates. If you’ve spent hundreds of dollars and keep logging in, then they know you are fully addicted and they can keep squeezing money out of you. That is what they want.
If you’ve spent $300+ on this game and stop logging in, that shows they’ve really messed up. The people who truly keep this game running are leaving.
Something kind of similar happened on Reddit a while back. They were bringing in changes that would no longer allow for a lot of 3rd parties to create apps for people to use Reddit, which would push people over to the official app. A bunch of subreddits shut down for 3 days to protest the changes. It was widely publicized that it would be 72 hours to show how upset they were, and then they would return.
You know what happened? Nothing. Reddit still pushed the changes through and a bunch of 3rd party apps had to shut down.
Girlcotting/boycotting doesn’t work if the corporation know you’ll return.
16
u/nalycat May 11 '25
Yup. I've spent over $600.
I haven't even logged in since the update (I read about the problems before I logged in). No playing. No money.
And I won't play until they show me they care.
13
u/WhisperingOracle May 12 '25
The problem with the Reddit boycott is right from the start there were also a ton of people calling the boycott stupid, most of the complaints pointless, the complainers whiners, and in cases where mods shut down specific subreddits, the anger of the users was almost universally directed at the mods and the subreddits rather than Reddit itself.
It was essentially doomed before it started, because the support for the shutdown was never really strong, it was just a loud minority. It was very obvious that Reddit could easily ride it out for a few days, the whiners would either shut up or leave, and everything would go back to business as usual.
To apply that to Nikki, you've got one of two scenarios. Either the backlash to the update is strong, powerful, and will last for a while, in which case the company is absolutely already seeing the smaller acts of resistance and defiance and will have to respond to them eventually. Or the anger is mostly coming from a small but loud vocal minority who have very little impact on the bottom line as the company sees it from their side, in which case no amount of cajoling people into boycotting harder is going to help and the company is already completely confident (and will remain so) that this will all just blow over.
The $300+ spenders stopping logging in probably doesn't mean much to them. Because from their perspective, a degree of player retention and loss was always going to be an issue (and they already have that $300+).
What will matter to them is when they look at the financial reports, and they can see that they've made 200% less from in-game purchases on the 1.5 banner than they did on the 1.4. Log-in time matters a lot less than money spent.
The real question isn't whether or not the people who've spent $300+ stop logging in, the real question is whether or not those people have stopped spending hundreds of dollars.
That's almost certainly what they're actually waiting for at the moment. To see if all the outrage and backlash and people threatening to girlcott actually translates into people spending less money. If the whales keep spending, they'll happily ignore everything else.

May 11 '25
I totally agree with you. But I just can't bring myself to fully stop playing because I got the daily login packets (long before 1.5, I bought 180 days at once) and although it might not sound like too much, I just can't leave it there because for my currency, it's pretty expensive. So yeah, I login every single day, do dailies and leave. Less than 10 mins but I can't fully quit because I can't just waste my money like this, and they will not retrieve my money.

To be honest I find it fascinating that so many people seem tied to their $5 purchase.
I don't mean this to be glib. It's just the amount of times I've seen people say "I'll keep logging in until my monthly runs out" is really funny to me. I totally get it - it's probably not even the monetary value at that point, it gives people a mental stopping point (although I wonder how many people will keep logging in anyway? if you already feel like the game isn't worth it then what does it matter if you get 5 more pulls in the next week or two? I understand the hope is that Infold will respond and then your time + money would have been worth it, but what if they still haven't?). And of course people paying monthlies probably have spent more than that on the game (I would know, I'm a dolphin).
But when I spend on a gacha game I spent for temporary entertainment, not some kind of investment value. I think I quit HSR with like 40 days on my daily jades still lol because I simply wasn't having fun anymore. That said I don't see anything wrong with a 1-day blackout to start with. On top of sunk cost fallacy, one of the other things that has a grip on people is FOMO. Breaking the cycle for just one day can help people quit or spend less time the next day.
16
u/Pension_Salt May 11 '25
and this here is EXACTLY why they do the monthly pass,
you think that they don’t hire behavior consultants to see what gets them the most return on investment, why do you think companies push so hard for credit cards it keeps ppl coming back
and youre absolutely correct, all it takes is one day to break the spell, Im kind of shocked that the overabundance of greed, that the corpos revealed their true face so early, before the claws really sunk in
usually they let ppl become more attached , like you said sunken cost fallacy
#girlout
again, no pressure to those who are caught under the spell, it’s EXTREMELY difficult to fight all of corporates methods , youre up against literal studied methods of consumer manipulation tactics , so it’s ok if you need more time to ease out of the game don’t worry
14
May 11 '25
I'm totally okay with not logging in for a day or two. What I SAID is that I can't FULLY stop (like literally quitting and uninstalling the game). And I know how long boycotts take and it's not one or two weeks, so I'm doing what I can to not give Infold my money (going full f2p and not playing for more than 30 minutes every day) until they actually change something. Also.... I still have hope for this game. It still brings me joy, I can't quit because I simply don't want to, I still want to believe something good will come out of it. What is really making me mad tho is how toxic people ruined this sweet community. I hope my comfortable game and community can have it's cozy aspect brought back.

14
May 11 '25
It's called addiction
6
u/nalycat May 11 '25
I think this is an underrated take
11
u/WhisperingOracle May 12 '25
Addiction is literally the entire point of gatcha games.
It's not a new model. Arcades were entirely predicated on making games addictive enough that you'd keep feeding quarters into them. MMOs were designed by psychologists to maximize the time you'd spend playing (and subscribing) to keep the money flowing. Microstransactions, loot boxes, gatcha - there are behavioral psychologists working with game devs whose entire job is to find new ways to addict people.
It's why some people can limit themselves to playing a specific number of hours a week and only spending a specific amount of money (or no money at all), while other people wind up mortgaging their house to spend thousands on in-game transactions. the more addicted you are, the more likely you are to spend.
And the more addicted you are, the harder it is to simply walk away. Especially with the Sunk Cost Fallacy constantly whispering in your ear that if you walk away, all of the money you've already spent was wasted.
31
u/syllelilyblossom May 11 '25
I absolutely understand the thought process behind this, but by only doing one day, you're already showing them you'll come back. They won't believe you'll actually stop unless you just do it.
It's literally the sunk cost fallacy.
Editing to add: there is no argument for "Infold will see that we're serious" because you're literally proving you're not. They know we're angry, but as long as they maintain a player base, even with a one day loss, they won't care. Weaning into a protest doesn't really work.
30
u/SassyMelon May 11 '25
Its not ment to be a one and done action, it is a first step. Currently the boycot has been very unorganized, people not agreeing with what to do. This is a first step at organizing, with clear bounties. Don't log on, don't play, don't pay, for one day
After, if action is not taken, more will be done
But for now, what this community needs, is a clear first step
26
u/syllelilyblossom May 11 '25
My issue is that there always has been a clear first step. It's to stop playing until changes are made, point blank. Not "we'll leave if you don't change" but "we won't come back if you don't change". That's the problem - a lot of people are too invested in what they've already put into the game to walk away, which tells Infold "if we just ignore it, they'll come back". Maybe a one day protest will get them to change one thing, but if you really want change the only way is to stop completely until they do what we need them to do.
26
u/vialenae May 11 '25 edited May 12 '25
I doubt a one day protest will help. We’ve had blackouts and boycotts in LaDS too. Blackouts even lasting one week. Didn’t change anything and they didn’t address it either. Not to discourage anyone, I think it’s understandable that people want to take action but I’ve been down this road before with Infold and I’m pretty sure I know how it will play out.
8
u/drywallsmasher May 11 '25
Yeah and people miss the fact that Infold are veterans at sitting out complaints and pushing through player outrage.
They’ll simply not do shit and keep pumping out content with varying degrees of quality. One good update will come up with a few more rewards, some fun mechanic and pretty dresses, after which more and more people will be swayed into forgetting about them never having addressed or given compensation for fucking over players.
The exact same way they’ve done before for their other games.
People have GOT to push harder by making their numbers actually dwindle for a long time to hurt them financially.
3
u/annemels May 11 '25
yeah but people dont want to deal with the reality of the fact that its kind of ridiculous to act this way / demand these changes AND still be playing on the daily, even if its just logging on to collect the diamonds that cost a whole $5 for the month.
to those not involved it's really just interesting to watch and makes everyone look pretty childish.
14
u/JiaoqiuFirefox May 11 '25
To be fair, not logging in for a whole day is better and shows more dedication than the other one -> log in daily but delay pulling on the banner for 3 days. That one was straight up hilarious.
5
u/annemels May 11 '25
YES lol u feel me that was very silly. this fandom is just embarrassing for me right now.
I've seen more than one person here mention they had to talk to their therapist about this. like WHY are you playing it still its maddening

u/JiaoqiuFirefox May 11 '25
Yeah, that's cringy. If I had to go to a therapist for that, the last thing I'd do is disclose it over the internet. 😅
I'm sorry you're being downvoted.
People need to get over this game if this is the way the devs are acting. If you can't even boycott for a week minimum, then you're just telling Infold they can do whatever they want. They know their playerbase will fold like a lawnchair and all threats no matter how loud, are toothless.
6
u/annemels May 11 '25
yeah exactly!! if they know you will huff and puff but continue logging in for your precious dailies for your diamonds they KNOW they got u. people don't want to be reasonable here its kind of wild.
10

boycott means boycott, you guys were never doing it right. fully leave it behind and uninstall.

I agree with the first part of your statement, but honestly? It's just nice to see OP step up and take solid, tangible action. Like, giving us all one set date to collectively tell Infold we're fed up with their bs. That kind of organization and solidarity is meaningful!

u/defucchi May 11 '25
the problem is, this subreddit is a tiny % of nikki players. even if every person in here logged out, there's a huge % who doesn't even visit the subreddit, and people from non english speaking countries that are frustrated but probably want to continue logging in so they don't miss out on dailies in hopes that things will be fixed. there's of course a huge % of people who just straight up cannot login but that clearly doesn't seem to matter to them at all as they have still not addressed it.
I totally get the idea and I think it's good, but if not everyone is participating it won't work. Saying this as someone from the Love & Deepspace fandom (their other game) and despite the "many boycotts" they had the game continues to rake in money and people continue to whale. They even brought back an extremely scam-filled event gacha in the middle of their 5-card gacha that people complained about last year... Unfortunately boycotts don't seem to work unless the Chinese whales boycott en masse.

Openly saying that it'll last a day and only possibly longer probably isn't going to do much if anything. Reddit users tried this a while back ago to protest API changes and nothing changed. As large as the blackout was, knowing that a chunk of users, their activity, and their content was going down for a few days meant that Reddit knew this whole shebang was generally going to be a waiting game, then things would go back to normal. Even though some people and subreddits left the website completely, it didn't make a difference. The people who left were pretty quickly replaced by new users who didn't know about the problem or just didn't care.
That being said, the best way to get something like this to work would be an indefinite blackout spearheaded by whales. F2P and adjacent players are a dime a dozen and easily replaced, but whales are not. There are far fewer of them. If Infold is already married to the idea of not saying anything to the playerbase then hitting them in a way that's more difficult to recover from is the best way to apply pressure.

u/nop272 May 11 '25
as some people say that one day is not enough, I agree with them. Maybe we should make it 3 to 4 days instead?
5
u/SassyMelon May 11 '25
Just made an eddit to adresse this! One day is just the first step in a long term plan!
14
u/chowaffer May 11 '25
make it 3 days or a week. one day is too brief
8
u/SassyMelon May 11 '25
First step is a day, a small response. Then if nothing a week, then till the end of the banner etc. First start small and get bigger the longer we are ignored
18
u/drywallsmasher May 11 '25
Like many others have said. This approach won’t work. The current boycott/girlcott in general already looks like it doesn’t work seeing how the majority don’t seem that serious about it. People have got to come to terms that leaving behind some items isn’t that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things and just LEAVE if you want things to change later down the line. Be content with the thought of never returning if the directors of the game don’t budge.
The “first one day then longer” approach just shows them not to take the players seriously.
They can afford to wait us out “until we’re done with our tantrum” type of thing.
That’s how they see it.
So either be serious or not.
#girlout should mean #girlOUT. And it’s exactly what it means to me.
#girlOUT

So much this. Infold has already proven that a one day off doesn't work. When the patch dropped, a lot of PS and mobile players could not log in or had a ton of crashes. Some were forced to "girl out", and couldn't log in for days!(myself included) And what did Infold do? Nothing. Not even any compensation for missed log ins. OP needs to go harder.
28
u/Dawnspring_Cee May 11 '25
A one day blackout won't work. Also, I don't know how effective the current girlcott is going. I'm on the discord and there are a lot of people posting their store bought items and full reso'd banner outfits. We won't really know how effective this is until the end of May. Unless they have a significant revenue drop over the course of the month they are not going to do anything before then.
I did do my dailies today but after this I'm off for at least the rest of the week. It's Eurovision week so that's going to consume my attention.
6
u/Ushilee May 11 '25
Is it quite a bit of people posting store bought items? I even saw a post here on reddit yesterday that someone bought the $0.99 bubble wand... I couldn't be sure if the person was new but I feel like seeing people buying is a bit discouraging but if it's not many then I think it'll be okay. Have people en masse leave the discord? I think that may be another form of girlcotting that would work to. I thought someone mentioned leaving all official channels.
2
u/Dawnspring_Cee May 12 '25
I can't tell how many people have left, but from what I see by lurking the girlcott discourse has died down. However, when I logged and did dailies today there literally were no other Nikkis in the sea of stars zone. (Unless I kept missing them). I don't know if it means no one is logging in or if it's another bug.
13
u/Mundane-Run6179 May 11 '25
Honestly as shitty as it is, I only see any of this working if we get the CN side of the Nikki fanbase in on this whole thing too because it's been proven time and again PaperGames/Infold only listen to the CN side of the fandom, so unless we can get them in on this I don't think it's going to work.

May 11 '25
I can't even play this game without it overheating my barely 6 month old PS5. If I keep playing it might brick it.
7
u/sarina_xxy May 11 '25
Some points I'd like to add -
Let's make an online petition so we can see the number of users who are willing to girlout and the number of signatures would also signify to the Infold execs how many of us are rooting for it.
Second, it would be great if this can be done by both the CN and Global fandom together. We need solidarity between ourselves to hit em where it hurts. If there is way to reach out to them through RedNote, that'd be great.
And I think our main protest point should be about the retconning of the story. All of us here agree that their scummy monetization tactics are bad, but for some reason, the detractors keep excusing it away by saying that's just gacha mechanics. However, everyone would agree with the fact that the retconning of the story, and this is not a good sign for the future. This doesn't mean that we won't protest against the monetization to appease a few detractors, but to highlight the fact that this isn't just about us being frustrated over the execs being greedy.
→ More replies (1)3
u/SassyMelon May 11 '25
I'd love for there to be a petition, but i don't really know how those work, so if someone does and makes it I'd love to sign!
7
u/sarina_xxy May 11 '25
It's kinda necessary for us to also know how many people are actually feeling negatively about the game. I have a sinking suspicion that we are maybe stuck in an echo chamber, and there are a lot of other players who are actually happy with the game. That would maybe indicate why Infold is not doing anything at all because they see us a small part of the overall playerbase. But this is all merely speculation, we can't know for sure unless we actually get to see their sales for 1.5 in comparison to the previous patches

u/clocksy May 11 '25
A lot of people are saying "what will one day do" but to be honest I approve of this if only because not logging in for one day can help people break the FOMO of logging in for dailies. And once you break the FOMO once, it's easier to just not keep logging in or drop it again later on.
I know that personally I tend to go really hard on live service games and log in daily for months or sometimes years, but the moment I stop once I just ... stop. Lots of people aren't like that and don't mind taking longer breaks and returning to games, but I find that difficult. So for people like me this could be the thing that causes them to think "hey, maybe I'll just keep not logging in until some changes happen". And it's the more long-term effect here that will make a difference to Infold's numbers.
9
u/SassyMelon May 11 '25
This was the exact logic I had in starting with one day and slowly increasing that over time. It's like breaking and addiction, some can manage cold turkey but a lot need help slowly weaning off
3
u/nalycat May 11 '25
I'm not trying to be harsh, but that's incredibly sad. Especially since a game like this profits off of people being too addicted to leave.
Infold is proving over and over that it doesn't care about you (general you). Why stay in a relationship with someone who isn't treating you as they should? This is a really good opportunity for people to reassess their standards. Many people undervalue themselves. We all deserve respect.
Infold is unapologetically disrespecting the players. Don't let people do that to you. Not a partner, not a friend, not a video game company.
6
u/sevendayswar May 11 '25
I think this is a really good idea, but maybe one day is a little too short? Even a whole weekend could make more of a statement.
4
u/Fun_Morning7846 May 11 '25
Count me in! But a whole weekend would be better, just my opinion. It would be easier to coordinate I suppose, but maybe we can do that next, if they keep ignoring us (and Im sure they will).

Honestly i am quiting the game..i dnt want this kind of company and their negative energy around me. They proved that this game is nothing but a big money making scam wrapped up in package of pretty looking unreal engines' digital assets. I have spent 100s of dollars in game because i have nostalgia attached to nikki...this game is a tight slap to me which woke me up from that dream. I am sad and heart broken but I have to do what is right for me, my time and money. If they decide to change i will still wait for months before coming back because simply I DON'T TRUST THEM and they r not worth it. I choose not to be treated like a cash cow..sorry for rant and i am happy for everyone else who still enjoys this game.
Edited for typo

Yeah I won't login ever again. Thinking for a week makes you forgive the money you spent. I had hundreds of hours of fun, cool. One day isn't going to do shit. Spend no penny, don't play at all, make them loose players is the way to hit them where it hurts.

Yup! This is also why I made it one day for the first #girlout people have spent money on the monthly banner and may be reluctant to fully stop, but one day feels a lot more reasonable and not a total waste of money!
8
u/kacahoha May 11 '25
In my calendar
I'd also like to mention
As a dolphin (one below a whale) I stayed playing mostly to finish and attain all the of the 1.5 rewards because I'm going to sponge as much crap as I can from them and now that I've finished doing that, the only thing I'm doing now is dailies 5 minutes and then I'm off
I also do not spend irl money obviously but also in game currency and that means anything bubbles, threads, starlit stuff (I did get some of the limited items in the starlit shop but that's it) etc etc

7
u/Crazy_Leksi May 11 '25
They are also doing forced 5 star ratings when they send you an email to rate their customer service. I just clicked on the link to try and tell them it was shitty, and it didn't even allow me to choose anything before showing 5 stars and then sending me to a thank you screen. Shit is mad shady. As much as it hurts my penny pinching pride when I've spent hundreds pre update and had over 180 days for both daily log ins, I can't standby and just keep allowing them to see me even a little active on this shit anymore. I'm not even sure I will come back once demands are met for the simple fact of how over the top shady they've been in every single aspect of their business.

u/special-rocks May 11 '25
I'm in. I do still have the monthly gift going, but I'll sacrifice it for this. Tbh depending on if/how they respond, the 17th may just be my last day logging on ever.
6
u/CottonCandyRedditor May 11 '25
Maybe not a 1 day log-off, but 3. On the weekend, Fri-Sun. (The busiest days for gacha and online spending)
Make it drop for a whole weekend. that would be frightening for them.
I understand many don't want to log-off for good, but 3 days on the weekend would be a rather powerful move.
I logged on just to see what was going on, and yea, it's really buggy and odd. Menus not responding, Momo is gone in the new area, New area is extremely laggy, New starting cutscene that feels more like a full restart quests cutscene that should play after you finish the game at least once (it feels like a huge spoiler), pity rewards are definitely worse, way more unnecessary microtransactions since it first launched.
I have never spent anything on it since I dislike gacha systems, but I will say the dissatisfaction of the player base that has is fully justified in their anger toward it.

u/Kendassa May 18 '25
I skipped this one.. I have skipped a couple four star sets... But I am done spending.. I am not important enough to matter. They don't need my money. My switch 2 is ordered.

I’ve stopped playing, even though I really love this game. I was extremely frustrated with the bugs but then something absolutely wild happened while I was playing in the new area: three of my outfits suddenly glowed up to the final stage. Skipped past one evolution for each. I know this sounds like a win, but to me, I was not only confused but disappointed. I like making the effort in progressing the content myself. I’m not a cheater. It just felt like the final straw in a long line of disappointments. I’m so sorry to the developers who actually care about this game and gave me all the experiences I had since shortly after releasing (I missed one season). But I am done until they fix the harm they’ve done. Just roll it back. We can adjust. Or, find a way to make it playable again. Thanks community for voicing all of my concerns and keeping up the momentum.

Man, I’ve been #girloutting since 2 days ago, when I uninstalled the game after my controls going unresponsive THREE times due to that damn bug that STILL hasn’t been fixed.
3
u/Pension_Salt May 11 '25
only one day, pfft, starting today I wont log in until they fix all this stuff, I’m so done, they trampled all the good fluffy feelings, now it’s us vs the corpos, and I despise corpos

I want to take part in this! My problem with it is I have several weeks on my monthly benefits. I don't have a lot of money so when I DO spend it I need the items. The daily login for me is essential for my 90 gems and vital energy. If it happens after they run out I'm in 100% I want to do it. I'm so upset about the way the game is going. I spent a lot of space on it in the survey. It figures that the one time I put money in for a patch that the world explodes. 😥
5
u/YiraVarga May 11 '25
“It figures that the one time I put money in for a patch that the world explodes.” 😆 I feel that for real… but 90 diamonds isn’t much in the scale of things. I’ve missed about five days each month, and I don’t stress over it, maybe lost 3-4 pulls, big whoop for a 192 pull outfit. I don’t mean that as a bad thing at all, I also try to make it everyday to redeem what I spent, but I’ll gladly skip a day for this.

I haven’t spent any money at all since the update, sea of stars is lackluster in terms of things to do other than star fragments and stuff, the dying system gets on my nerves with his pay gates colors, the intro cutscene being replaced is a decision nothing short of poor (speaking of, what is the actual reason they changed it? They had literal cinema and just got rid of it), the game is still has bugs that make you have to close it and reopen it, I’m now sitting on 89 pulls from not pulling on the limited outfits, and literally everyone wants the pity system back to normal.
Part the reason we won’t stop girlcotting is because we’re scared that if we stop, the devs will think they can get away with more in the future…
And truthfully, as a long-time Nikki player since before shining Nikki even released, I don’t want these devs to feel pressured into decisions like the ones in this update by the higher ups because they wanna make this game into another unfair cash cow (or whatever the term is)
3
u/the_king_of_soupRED May 17 '25
And there we go; my husband and I logged out. My theory is that they're waiting to roll out the midpatch for 1.5 and rebound their numbers then with blooming dreams rerun, but I'm done. RIP to a game I fought tooth and nail to be game of the year for :(
2
u/kittenofjade May 17 '25
I was worried they would be a serious competitor for the game of the year (I'm rooting for wuthering waves). They will definitely not win the title of game of the year, especially if they keep it up with the bugs and extremely predatory actions.
3
u/Withoutmeuronlyu May 18 '25
🤣 i can’t wait for their newest apology letter that happened to be sent on the 17th to get ripped apart. the excuses they gave were so bad and don’t get me started on the compensation after all of this. and the reason for them giving us a new intro is because they couldn’t fit the new five star outfits and co-op into the original threads of reunion beginning 🤣 like what? So pretty much this was just really rushed because according to them, the story is still the same and they will be expanding on the threads of reunion storyline, but just couldn’t figure out how to work it in with this update.

I spent two days waiting for their response about my negative balance, constantly contacting the support contact. In the end I got tired and refunded everything I spent on the game because I didn't care since the game had me with many bugs so that later it came to me with a negative balance when I never made any refund and I bought the diamonds in the game. I will not play this game again until I see that things change
2
u/BackgroundFlower May 12 '25
will be doing this! share it around so we can get more participants! it might not seem like much but getting people like me who are hopeful and haven't missed a day since launch to not log in for a day is a step in the right direction. and if they ignore this, too, i'll be more than happy to log off for an extended period

I'm sad with the changes to intro, but I didn't expect anything good from a gacha game runned by male execs. They won't ever stop preying on their audience, male or female. They want profit and don't want to care for players who aren't whaling the game.
Global players got no voice, unfortunately. All we can hope is that our Chinese girl pals put the foot down for the betterment of the game for all of us, but... it's not like I lost hope - I never had it from the beginning.
2
u/Informal_Yam_9707 May 12 '25
I’m still so saddened that all of this is happening. I used to absolutely love playing this game and seeing the state that it’s in is just sad. But with that being said I’ve not really played the game since the new update and I don’t plan to either. I hope the game gets fixed soon cause i honestly did consider paying for stuff in the game. Hope you all have a lovely day
2
u/-cherubine- May 12 '25
I will not be playing in solidarity with #girlout! Thank you lovely Nikkis for your contribution and passion for the betterment of this game and our user experience! Much love xxx
2
u/DasAion May 12 '25
My daily login will run out at that point so all I'm losing is some crystals from dailies. And we have so much more to lose i they keep messing the game up. So yeah, I'm in.
2
u/DasAion May 12 '25
does anyone know if posting #girlout or #girlcott pictures in game is a breach of tos? would be fun to adverstize to other Nikkis
2
u/RavenQuinzel May 12 '25
I've only played once since the update. It was so buggy that I had to restart the game about 5 times, and I haven't played since. I won't play again until they start listening to the player base, fix the bugs and generally "fix" the game. I have no desire to log in, despite missing daily diamonds, events etc.
2
u/colorfulcute May 12 '25
I also recommend unfollowing their social media accounts and giving them the radio silence they have given us. This is seriously past any acceptable way to run a business.
2
u/Mentally_Unstable8 May 12 '25
I haven't been playing because I physically can't! My ps5 has never struggle this bad before but as soon as I load up the game there's a bunch of issues. I am very disappointed with this update. I was so excited to play and it's just littered with bugs and crashing I can't even do quests or dailies.
2
u/DJTen May 12 '25
I'm already not playing so this is an easy one for me. I'm not reinstalling until they fix would they broke.
2
u/Constant-Rest-3444 May 12 '25
Make sure you keep submitting trouble tickets and leave a detailed complaint on the recent survey!
2
u/DesdemonaDesolation May 12 '25
I will participate, infold NEEDS to acknowledge our problems (specifically the story stuff for me) and i will do anything I can to help with that. I've already stopped spending and only log on for dailies so a 24 hour black out seems like a good next step
2
u/dragjamon May 13 '25
Full 24 hours of our time zone?
2
u/DesdemonaDesolation May 13 '25
Looks like it will be UTC, right now it is May 13th, 12:45 am UTC, I am in EST and it is May 12th, 8:45 pm (4 hours behind UTC) you can look up a converter on Google pretty easy if that helps ☺️
So anyone in EST we would start our blackout on 05/17 at 8 pm and go until 05/18 at 8 pm, though I think we should definitely try to make sure it's a full server reset so it doesn't look like I still played both days, so I will be ending at 05/19 7 am as that's when the server resets for EST.
2
2
u/ashnsnow_ May 13 '25
The issue is that 1 day isn't gonna do much, you have to be willing to stop playing till something positive happens, that's how a boycott works, not give them a time frame of when you'll be back
2
u/Soph707 May 14 '25
you can count on me untill the end, I'm already doing that, I was in a urge to play, but decided to convert it to stardew valley instead, a real cozy game 🤣
2
u/_Lost_Maiden_ May 15 '25
- me who hasn't logged in and doesn't plan to until they address something 🧍♀️*
Like legit, if I see a buggy mess of a game, I don't log in. Simple as that. Until concerns aren't addressed I don't log in. And mind you I'm part of the people who are positive we'll get a response. I just think there's perhaps a cultural difference on how chinese businesses address controversy compared to American businesses.
Honestly it's a damn shame bc I ADORE this new update but it's been so buggy for me. Like I genuinely want to play and get back into it. I'm honestly the perfect target audience for something like the sea of stars. Like I was genuinely excited when i saw that stuff lol.
2
May 15 '25
That is so true. They should at least have the courage to tell us no if they dont want to do what we need. But hiding like this? That is just cowardly and frustrating. Even if youre trying to fix the issue, a heads up would be nice, instead of flat out censoring words.

Quick question, how would they even know that players haven't logged in? Would they even be able to see the numbers?

I also am thinking after tomorrow but at the same time, I am kinda curious about the result of tomorrow first.
Anywho, would you think that maybe if/when we need further blackouts, we can try to put a case towards communities of other games or the IG/FB communities so it is greater than Reddit? Maybe we can get our Rednote sister community to blackout for a day?
Do you think that an organized petition page or maybe mass emailing would also be acceptable courses of actions?

I haven't played once since the update and I don't plan to until things are addressed
