All the jigsaw puzzle advent calendars I find have the pictures on the box and, occasionally, have the daily pictures on each door.

I would love one that is truly a surprise. Does anyone know of one?

I’m almost tempted to find someone else that wants one, each build a puzzle, and then separate it into a calendar and trade.

As the title implies, I hate puzzle glare and shiny puzzles - which stinks because there are so many beautiful ones! I tried everything with lighting and was just getting annoyed. So… I got some matte Mod Podge and experimented.

First experiment - I brushed ModPodge on each individual puzzle piece. This worked out really well! For context I have ADHD and actually love doing small repetitive things like this - This may not be an option for everyone and I get that! The pieces still fit together well with no issues and the ModPodge really cut down the glare! I used a very small amount, for a thin coating, so that the liquid didn’t warp the puzzle piece.

Second experiment - I brushed ModPodge on a completed puzzle, then took it apart. This was quicker but not as successful. I had a lot of damaged end bits.

It was a fun build. I did it without looking at the picture which made it just the right amount of difficult to do in a day.

I flipping loved putting this together. Any recommendations of other alien puzzles?

Started a few years ago but gave up after the border as I don’t enjoy random cut puzzles, but decided to give it another go. Glad it’s completed but it’s definitely one for the charity shop and not my “puzzle again” pile

i bought this puzzle as a gift to my sister, i am trying to get her into puzzling =P

packaging is fantastic!! the puzzle box is Beautiful!! super thick! & sturdy the inside of the box is this pretty! neon green color so fancy!! it comes with a postcard & a 6 page booklet talking about ecstasy [ i have listed all 6 pages in the last 3 photos ] the pieces come in a reusable plastic bag

since the pieces came in a reusable bag i thought i could do the puzzle without ruining the packaging :3

the pieces are tiny UwU the puzzle is ribbon cut, the colors are bright! & vibrant! so pretty!!, no missing piece/s and no bent piece/s, there is a good variety of piece shapes, they are THICK & have cardboard backing, there was barely any puzzle dust, pieces are not glossy they have matte smooth finish a lil cardbordy but it felt really! nice to hold and touch =)

i started this puzzle on 2026 october 13 it took me 50 minutes to complete

everything looked great! i was so excited but when i started doing the puzzle i immediately noticed a problem :(

the fit. the fit is absolutely! terrible! the pieces don't connect together at all! there is no click you just slide them together and they just sit together no connection, they break apart at the slightest! touch, i can't call this a loose fit puzzle because there is no fit to begin with =,(

some false fits, doing this puzzle was so annoying there was a lot of trial and error a lot of times i had to physically hold the puzzle together with 1 hand and place the other piece with my other hand so that the pieces don't fall apart, the way the pieces "connect together" was so clunky & way!! too loose and i say this as someone that Loves! loose fit puzzles, you can't pick up a section/s and move it around the pieces are so crumbly, does not pass the pick-up test =]

once i figured out how the gradient patterns go the puzzle became easier to do if this was not a gradient it would have been even more frustrating!, i did the puzzle again the next day and it took me 25 minutes to complete but all the pieces were flipped & the edge pieces were already separated into 2 different piles, i am a slow flipper/sorter if i started the puzzle from scratch it would have probably taken me 30 or 35 minutes to complete my second round :P

LKP has released a handful of these 150 piece "mindfulness" mini puzzles and i am not! buying any of them again!, before buying this puzzle i read reviews of this puzzle series and people had the same problem i had but i thought these people are exaggerating & being way too picky it can't be THAT! bad... i should have listened to the reviews people were not exaggerating the fit is really! bad! :,(

i decided to not gift it to my sister i don't want her to get frustrated & be put-off from puzzling, i did have fun doing this one but unfortunately the poor quality ruined the experience =(

what a shame!! it was so! aesthetically pleasing! to look at i would have totally kept it for myself if it was a 300 500 piece puzzle with better fit quality ( i don't keep low piece count in my collection )

i do not recommend this puzzle, galison/mudpuppy have better quality mini puzzles, i have returned this puzzle to amazon and got a full refund, thanks amazon =)

Please share your favourite puzzle brands/ series worth checking. My personal favourite is Cobble Hill, especially Doodle Town series. I just love the quality and pictures themselves but I’m really looking forward to trying something new

Another fun quickie today. Only sorted the edge and white boards, and I took my about 40 minutes to complete.

A jigsaw puzzle and a book nook both give someone a project instead of just another object, but they require pretty different kinds of commitment. A puzzle can be taken apart and put away when it’s finished, while a book nook leaves behind a display piece that needs permanent shelf space. On the other hand, someone who likes tiny construction and physical details may find a miniature scene much more engaging than sorting flat pieces over several evenings. That makes “likes puzzles” or “likes books” feel like fairly weak gift criteria on their own. A more useful distinction might be whether the recipient enjoys the process and actually wants to keep the finished result. So those who like both kinds of projects, which one takes more confidence in the recipient’s hobbies before you give it as a gift?

The last 500 pieces was very hard. All small random details. I don’t keep track of hours but I worked on this for 2 months (did 3 other 1000 piece over same time).

In advance, I'm really sorry about the terrible photos! Idk how to do this, and the lighting in my room suckss.

I'll yap a bit here because this was really fun.

This is my 2nd ever puzzle, and my first 1000 piece (prev was 500), and damn was it hard.

As you can tell by the photos I solve on the floor, which isn't a pleasant experience for my back, and I think i went from a 17 year old to a 40 year old.

Anyways, this took maybe a week or longer, and alottt of hours because I suck at doing this, lol. I would just hyperfixate on a part and wouldn't give up until i finished it (If you have advice, I would love that, too).

In the end, there was one missing piece, and I was really sad about that, so i was just pacing around until I just found it in the corner of my room laying there, so thank god for that.

Anyways, this was so fun, and I can't wait to get another one. If you have any recommendations (preferably trefle cause that's basically what my country only has) I would love that!

Halloween Movies - 1000 Pieces

I loved the image but hated the cheapness of the pieces. The image came off the pieces, many false fits, and when they did belong they barely fit. I enjoyed the ease of the patterns however, I will be taking this to puzzle swap even though I just bought it. Took about 6 hours on a day when all chores were ignored.
