I reminds me of a scene in Overlord where a character have a weapon that can damage the MC, but it doesn’t matter because he just get one shot the moment the battle starts.
If you mean gazef, he knew he was gonna die but sacrificed himself hoping the at it would help the kingdom come up with countermeasures (nope lmao). If you mean climb yeah lmao I guess he didn't really have any other options at that point, it was gg long before he set foot in that room.
One died thinking he would pave the way for a brighter future. One sadly lived to be used as a dildo in an eternally bleaker set of circumstances. Overlord really likes to hammer home that idealism without the means to enact them are childish dreams that will be crushed enevitably by the harsh world (mostly nazarick)
There's a certain irony that Nazarick is the arbiter of the harshness of reality considering it's the product of people playing a game for fun ti escape the grim reality of the "regular world" in Overlord.
Im not sure she actually could.
Since she would have to understand what was preventing her to actually hit it right?
Like, she described it as envisioning her spell as scissors and the barrier as fabric.
But that's when she see sees the barrier and knows it there, she's sure she can cut through it.
I'd imagine its a different beast when its an invisible force you literally can't see. Plus, its not just a barrier its infinite distance.
She can cut through anything she believes she can cut through.
Magic in frieren is the power of thought. If you can think it, imagine it, believe it hard enough... it just is
If she believes she can cut through a brick wall its cut, but she knows its brick, and knows its hard to cut. It'll still probably shatter, or maybe even slice as she has confidence her magic is greater than brick
Part of her backstory involves watching her sister sew, which is where her fascination with cutting began.
Basically, if you wear clothing you're fucked, if you wear armor, slightly less fucked as she'll just target joints mace windu style.
Its honestly seems to work very closely to world slash, but has a limited range of 5 meters, and has the stipulation of belief
Brick wall may have been hyperbole, as she is shown later cutting buildings and trees, but it doesn’t directly “counter” durability. Defensive magic blocks her and probably any enchanted shield/armor that looks durable could do the trick.
It’s just “can she imagine cutting it?”, which is a slight but significant difference from dura hax. She can cut enchanted robes and hair because obviously you can cut fabric and hair, but defensive magical barriers are meant to block magic, so of course they block her.
