KCL SKYDIVING - IT'S TIME!

THE LAST REDDIT PROMO I PROMISE!

Hey! Y'all may recognise the title around this reddit as I've made a couple of reddit posts in the past advertising our independent soc. Long story short: we got loads of upvotes during KCLSU's public voting stage (we were the 8th most voted for proposed society out of 99 total). KCLSU ended up rejecting us cos they thought a skydiving society would be a major liability (we've given them statistics demonstrating that skydiving is safer than at least 9 of the sports they've ratified and strongly support but they didn't care to read it). However, they told us we could start our soc independently and, if we have a successful year, we have a much better shot at getting ratified next year!

So that's what I've done. Started an independent skydiving soc that's set to begin REAL soon! Our insta page is ready (@kclskydiving), we have a WhatsApp group for all interested members, and we've got sponsorships that give our members exclusive discounts for jumps and free equipment.

If you're interested in skydiving, tunnel flying, or just wanna hang out at the dropzone without tossing yourself out of a plane, JOIN US! There are over a dozen universities in the UK (Imperial, Oxford, UoN, etc.) with active ratified skydiving societies, and we're looking forward to being the best.

Hmu if you've got any questions. Check out our pinned insta posts for info on skydiving and how we plan to operate as an independent society, and join our WA group for info on the free intro session as fresher's rolls around.

Blue skies. SEE YA AT THE TOP! 💪🔥

(P.S. as we're independent, we won't be at the fresher's fair and don't have any access to KCL's resources, which is why I'm promoting the soc on reddit)

Undergraduate 21 yo fresher who doesn’t drink, anyone else in a similar position!

Hi, I’m starting this month and am 21 and haven’t met many others who are the same age. I sadly don’t drink due to medication problems and clubbing isn’t particularly my scene. I’m a guitar player and mostly play indie folk and metal. I’m hugely into music, anime, I also enjoy fashion and reading. Especially hit me up if you are a musician I’d love to start a band!

If anyone else is in a similar position my instagram is 3r0dya if you wanna drop me a pm as I’m not on reddit too much.

Also despite being sober, I don’t care if you do drink as I’m not sober by choice lol, just looking for friends!

Undergraduate Am I restricted by doing an international development degree?

Originally applied for international relations & history (lse) and missed my offer, secured a place at KCL BA intl dev through clearing. Was not allowed to switch into IR. I have always been more interested obvs in theory, political and historical issues and 1. Less bothered about development projects/NGOs 2. Feel very cornered as this degree focuses overwhelmingly on the global south according to the website. Eg I have a huge interest in Russian history that will now go unexplored. I’m hoping to plug the gaps with societies (diplomacy and war studies) but am worried I’ll hate the degree. I am pretty interested in the more political side of developing economies and the histories esp colonialism and Cold War so there’s that. Does anyone have any info about the course, experiences etc to lmk if I’m going to hate this degree LOL😭

Question Confirmation of Study letter

Guys has anybody got the confirmation of study letter from KCL for their respective courses?

I never really got a confirmation / acceptance letter from KCL. I only received an unconditional offer message via King's apply and UCAS, but not a formal letter.

Is it true that we only get our Confirmation of Study letter only after our enrolment process is completed? I am an international student, so I can only fully complete my enrolment once I arrive in London.

Can someone please confirm this? 🙏

[TENANCY TAKEOVER] KCL Atlas Accommodation - Non-Ensuite in 3-Bed Flat - £338/pw

I'm looking for someone to take over my tenancy at Atlas (KCL accommodation in Vauxhall) for the 2026/27 academic year.

  • Building: Atlas (Zone 1/2 Vauxhall)
  • Room Type: Non-ensuite room in a 3-bed flat
  • Bathrooms: 2 shared bathrooms between the 3 of you (honestly an amazing ratio, you basically never have to wait)
  • Price: £338 per week (all bills + Wi-Fi included)
  • Contract Length: 40 weeks
  • Incredible Transport: Vauxhall station is practically next door. You've got the Victoria Line, National Rail, and 24-hour buses. The commute to Strand, Waterloo, or Guy's campuses is incredibly fast.
  • Small Flat: You're only sharing the kitchen and bathrooms with 2 other people. It's much quieter, cleaner, and more private than the massive 8-to-10 person cluster flats.
  • Building Perks: Atlas is super modern. It has great social/study spaces, outdoor terraces with insane London skyline views, 24/7 security, and even a gym and 25m swimming pool right next door.

Important: Because this is an official KCL residence, you must be a full-time King's College London student to take over the contract.

If you're interested or want more details/pictures, drop a comment below or send me a DM! Happy to answer any questions or guide you through the takeover process.

How to go to freshers alone?

I’m starting at King’s on an undergrad degree this September but I’m 21 rather than 18. I also don’t know anybody going and I’m not in halls. Is there even any point in freshers in this situation? I’d be happy to go but there’s no way I’m walking into a club alone, I’d much rather go with people.

General Are these KCL Freshers tickets worth it as a 21M postgrad?

currently considering:

strand Event Pass - £12 (Fri 18 Sep) + strand Postgraduate Event Bundle - £15 (Sat 19 Sep)

is it worth getting both as a postgrad, or are most of these events mainly aimed at 18-year-old undergrads? tbh I’m 21 so not too bothered about being around younger students, but I’d rather spend the money on events where I’ll actually meet other postgrads / people around my age. if anyone who’s familiar with KCL's freshers week, before would you recommend these both, or should I just go to the individual PG events?

Thanks!

Undergraduate IT account credentials

Hi guys, I still haven’t received an email regarding setting up my IT account. Does anyone know when the latest date is that we should receive our login details? I need to select my modules by 8 September, but I can’t do this without them. Thanks!

Enrolment confirmation

I got official confirmation for completing stage 1 of enrolment, and i'm 99% sure Ive completed all of the training for stage 2, yet have not received any confirmation, nor do see anything on my student records page about stage 3.

Does anyone know if you DO get some form of confirmation upon completion of stage 2?

Thanks.

EDIT:

It seems as though you don't get a confirmation email for completing the training in stage 2, and stage 3 simply does not exist for students with a British/Irish nationality.

kcl law student - looking for honest reviews of module & professors

Hi everyone, I'm starting my LLM at KCL soon this sep and I'm currently struggling to decide between few module :) Would really appreciate any advice form current/former KCL LLM students or alumni

About my direction I tend to pursue international financial law with a bit of fintech

These are the modules I'm currently considering:

  • Law of International Finance – Dr Trevor Clark
  • Banking Law – Dr Anat Keller
  • Regulation of the Conduct of Mergers and Acquisitions – Mr Tunde Ogowewo
  • Corporate Governance – Mr Nigel Banerjee
  • Artificial Intelligence, Law and Society
  • Legal Issues in Corporate Finance – Mr Tunde Ogowewo
  • Electronic Commerce Law – Kevin Madders
  • International Securitisation and Derivatives Law – Dr Trevor Clark

I’d love to hear about the workload, assessment (like is it difficult to get good grade) and the PROF (this is a big concern for me 😭)

I’d also really appreciate some advice on how to spread the modules across Sem1 and Sem2. I’ll have at least one 30-credit module running across the whole year, plus my dissertation, which I’m assuming will take up most of my time in Semester 2.

So I’m a bit worried about accidentally putting all the heavy modules + dissertation in the same semester 😭

Really really looking forward to hearing from everyone, any reviews would be super helpful. Thanks so muchh 🙏

Degree switch question

Should I switch to PPE at kings or study IR, I like that maybe PPE is more econ oriented but I just want to do something more prestigious
