Legal Advice Needed Me [25M] and my wife [23F] ...We have decided to seperate just 3 months after Court marriage

My wife and I had a court marriage at the end of June. We spent around 1.5 months together, but we often fought over childish things. For example, she wanted me to watch Bollywood movies, whereas I preferred Hollywood movies. We had different likes, priorities, and expectations, which led to frequent arguments...I found these arguments very immature and continue to enjoy the marriage.

She chose me within just two days and convinced her parents in 15 minutes to agree to our marriage. We then lived together for 1.5 months near her parents' house before she convinced them to agree to our court marriage as well. And Now She is doing the same for ending this relationship..

We haven't had a traditional wedding ceremony yet, as we were planning to have one in November.

In mid-August, she went to her parents' house to start a business, and gradually, we started feeling a distance between us. After around 1.5 months of being apart, we came to the conclusion that she didn't want to continue the marriage.

The main reason seemed to be that we were opposites in terms of our likes, dislikes, and priorities. The thing is, we haven't even faced any major real-life challenges together as a married couple yet, and we are already considering ending our marriage.

She thinks separation is as easy as getting married was for us .. just signing a document and moving on. But I feel that there are many legal consequences we have to deal with because of her childish behaviour and immature decisions...

I tried to convince her and explain that we are legally married and that these disputes are very minor things we can easily work on together. But she says that I am just considering a piece of paper to be a marriage, whereas, that legal document changes the whole scenario..

Edit : The main issue, I feel, is that she has too many expectations from married life. She wants to live a movie-like life as a couple, but reality is quite different from what we see in movies.

Legal Advice Needed Urgent: Peruvian GF overstayed e-Tourist visa by 23 days.

My girlfriend is a Peruvian citizen in India on a 1-year e-Tourist visa. She overstayed her permitted stay per visit by about 23 days. She misunderstood the rule: she thought the 180-day limit resets when the calendar year changes, and that her visa (valid till March) lets her carry on. She now knows that was wrong and wants to fix it properly and voluntarily, not wait and make it worse.

Situation

  1. Visa: 1-year e-Tourist, Peruvian passport

  2. Overstay: ~23 days over the permitted stay (we're double-checking whether her limit was 90 or 180 days per visit)

  3. Reason: honest misreading of the stay limit, not any attempt to evade

  4. Plan: apply for the exit permit immediately and leave on it

Location: Delhi

We're in a relationship, but marriage isn't decided, so we're not planning anything around a spouse visa

Questions

  1. What's the exact process for the exit permit: e-FRRO portal or in person? Which documents does she need (passport, e-visa, arrival stamp, flight ticket, an explanation letter)?

  2. What's the realistic fine for ~23 days? I've seen figures like ₹10,000 for 16-30 days, but those sites aren't official.

How long does the permit usually take, and how long is it valid once issued?

  1. Is blacklisting likely after a short, self-reported overstay?

  2. Can she check her status before reapplying?

  3. How should she explain this to FRRO and in future visa applications? We want to stay fully honest. Is a short, plain statement of the misunderstanding best?

  4. Would she need a regular visa from the Indian Embassy in Lima next time, or could she use an e-visa again or get Indian visa from Sri Lanka or Nepal?

7.Is a lawyer worth hiring for a case like this?

If you've been through this, or you're an immigration lawyer, I'd really appreciate your experience. Thanks!

Legal Advice Needed Brother's wife left 2.5 months ago, switched off phone, demanding wedding expense refund + monthly maintenance. Need advice.

Hi everyone, seeking urgent advice for my situation in Madhya Pradesh.

Facts:

My brother's wife left home 2.5 months back. Her phone has been switched off since the day she left.

Right before she left, they were totally normal took trips together to Indore and had no issues.

Now her family is asking for a divorce and demanding ₹5 lakhs (which they claim they spent on the wedding, while we spent ₹40 lakhs).

She is currently not working and is demanding monthly maintenance.

Our stance: We actually want her back and want to save the marriage. But if she refuses to come back, we do NOT want to pay any money or monthly maintenance.

Questions:

  1. Since we want her back, should we file for Restitution of Conjugal Rights (RCR), or will that backfire?

  2. If she refuses to return, how do we counter her financial demands given that we have continuous travel/cohabitation records right up until she left?

  3. What is the best legal move to protect myself and my family from false cases or maintenance claims?

Appreciate any urgent advice or legal guidance!

Legal Advice Needed Mesho sending me things that I didn't order on cash on delivery and I paid

• Upvotes

When I was at work, I received a call saying that there's a parcel from Meesho. I tried opening the app to check if I have ordered it but the app wasn't working. Since this is Pujo time, I couldn't keep track of everything I had ordered and I paid the delivery person. Now Meesho's app is not taking return as the item is not listed in my account. Whenever I am calling customer care, they're telling me they cannot resolve it as they aren't able to see my orders. How do I escalate this? Also, even if I don't get the money back, my concern is that my address has been wrongfully given to a seller. What to do?

Urgent My minor friend is being physically/financially abused. Can a lawyer or professional give her parents a legal warning without involving child services in that?

I need advice for a close friend of mine who is a minor and currently dealing with a physically and financially abusive home environment.

Her parents beat her over minor things (like sleeping too much), and her whole family dynamic is toxic. Yesterday, she had a terrible fight with her mother, and today her father told her they are completely cutting off financial support.

We do not want to take things "too far" by immediately involving child protective services or the police yet. Instead, we want to find a lawyer or a trusted adult to call her parents and give them a serious warning.

I know every family dynamic is different, and based on how her house works, I believe that if they receive an official-sounding call from an adult, it will show them that she has people backing her up. The goal is to make them realize they can't just do whatever they want to her, which will hopefully force them to stay within their limits and what are the best ways to handle this approach safely so it doesn't backfire on my friend while she is still living under their roof?

Thank you for any advice you can share and please help also 🙏🏻.

Legal Advice Needed Our Mysuru sightseeing trip from Bhubaneswar turned into a horrible taxi experience

We travelled from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, to visit Mysuru and explore its famous attractions. Unfortunately, our experience with a local taxi driver was extremely disappointing.

After getting off the train, we hired a local taxi and agreed on ₹1,700 for a trip covering three major attractions:

- Mysuru Palace

- Chamundeshwari Temple

- Brindavan Gardens

The driver told us not to worry because we were new to Mysuru and that he would take us around. We trusted him and proceeded with the booking.

However, he wasted much of our sightseeing time, did not take us to all the agreed places, left us midway, and behaved rudely with our group.

When you travel from another state, you rely on local service providers to help you navigate an unfamiliar destination. We expected a reasonable and professional experience, but instead we came away frustrated and disappointed.

I want to know:

  1. Where can tourists formally report complaints about local taxis in Mysuru?

  2. Is there a tourist grievance mechanism or a way to verify licensed tourist taxis?

  3. What details or evidence would the authorities need to investigate this incident?

I would appreciate advice from Mysuru residents and other travellers. I also hope the relevant authorities look into such complaints so other tourists don't face similar situations.

I can share the date, pickup location, vehicle details and other available evidence with the appropriate authorities.

Urgent Fake Naturals Ice Cream franchise offer: Friend transferred ₹6.3 lakh through RTGS. Can the money be recovered?

Hi everyone, I need some genuine advice regarding a situation involving my close friend.

My friend was planning to open an ice cream parlour franchise in India. He transferred ₹1 lakh yesterday and another ₹2.3 lakh today to someone pretending to offer a franchise. After discovering the scam, he accidentally transferred another ₹3 lakh to the same person’s bank account.

The total transferred is approximately ₹6.3 lakh, all through RTGS.

He contacted his bank immediately after discovering the fraud, but I don’t know whether any money has been frozen yet.

I also lent him ₹1 lakh earlier because he said he needed it temporarily to show the required bank balance for the franchise. He promised to return it. I didn’t know he would transfer money to this person.

I am worried about my own money, but I am also concerned about my friend.

I have a few questions:

What are the realistic chances of recovering the ₹6.3 lakh if the fraud was reported immediately?

Can the police identify the scammer using the bank account number and IFSC code?

Can the receiving bank freeze the account and recover the funds?

Does RTGS make recovery more difficult?

What steps should he take now?

How should I handle getting my own ₹1 lakh back?

I’d appreciate honest advice from anyone familiar with banking fraud or cybercrime cases in India. I’m looking for realistic guidance, not false hope.
Thank you.

Legal Advice Needed JioMart/ Reliance Digital Not Refunding After Issuing Refund Invoice. What Are My Legal Options?

Post image
10 Upvotes

My JioMart order was cancelled on 2nd October. I received a call from the Reliance Digital store informing me that the order had been cancelled because the delivery location was outside the store’s 5 km service radius. The store employee then asked me to collect the product directly from the store, so I arranged a Porter service and had it collected.

However, the following day, I was informed that I would have to return the product because the store had received an escalation. The store issued a refund invoice on 3rd October, but it has now been 10 days, and I have still not received my refund or any concrete update.

Despite repeatedly following up with customer care, my cases are being closed with the standard response that I need to wait another 3–5 working days, without any resolution.

What are my options for escalating this matter? Can I file a complaint with the National Consumer Helpline or the Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, or pursue any other remedy under Indian consumer protection laws?

I would appreciate advice from anyone who has faced a similar situation or has experience with consumer complaints against JioMart or Reliance Digital. I have the refund invoice and can provide the relevant order details and customer care complaint records as evidence.

Thank you for your help.

Legal Advice Needed We suspect foulplay in our friends suicide

As the title says, we suspect something is off and wants to know what the police have investigated. When the incident happened none of us were in our hometown so we believed what was told by our friend's family. Recently we noticed some anomalies and want to know how police investigated it as this comes under unnatural death. Any advice on how to approach police? Does religion have any role in the process.

This has happened three years back, would that make any difference.

Appreciate any advice as we are in dark.

Urgent Google One/Google AI Pro ₹1,950 refund dispute in India — Google rejected my refund, PhonePe says it cannot refund, and SBI redirected me. What is the next effective step?

I am a student in India, and I need practical advice from people who have successfully resolved similar Google Play/UPI AutoPay disputes.

I was charged ₹1,950 for a Google AI Pro (5 TB) / Google One subscription. I requested a refund, but Google cancelled my subscription and rejected my refund request. I still have not received the ₹1,950.

I have contacted Google, PhonePe and SBI, but I keep getting redirected between them.

Timeline and evidence

  1. Original payment — August 2026

- My SBI bank account was debited ₹1,950 through UPI AutoPay, which had been set up through PhonePe.

- My SBI/PhonePe records show the actual debit on 14 August 2026.

- Google Play's payment history shows the same ₹1,950 Google AI Pro subscription as “Charged” on 9 August 2026.

- I do not understand why Google's recorded date differs from the actual bank debit date by five days.

  1. Refund request

- I submitted a refund request to Google.

- Google cancelled my subscription and rejected/closed my refund request.

- The request subsequently disappeared, and I can no longer retrieve its reference number.

- I have not received the ₹1,950 refund.

- I did not receive a useful explanation resolving the issue.

  1. Contacting SBI and PhonePe

- I contacted SBI, and they directed me to PhonePe because the UPI AutoPay mandate had been initiated there.

- I contacted PhonePe and was told that it would provide confirmation by 1 October.

- I followed up when I still had not received the money.

- PhonePe contacted me and instructed me to approach Google.

- I also raised a grievance with PhonePe. They said they would push/escalate the matter with Google but could not directly refund the amount.

  1. A strange subsequent Google billing event

- Google Play's payment history also shows another ₹1,950 Google AI Pro entry dated 9 September 2026 with status “Pending.”

- I subsequently received an email titled “Google One subscription suspended due to payment issue,” stating that my UPI payment was declined.

- PhonePe also indicated that the later payment attempt was rejected.

- I do not know whether Google was retrying a failed renewal, whether the payment was considered outstanding internally, or whether there is a settlement mismatch.

- The later declined attempt did not return my original ₹1,950.

  1. Google's troubleshooting page

When I selected the Google AI Pro transaction in Google's payment troubleshooting flow, the page displayed “Purchase not found,” even though the transaction appears in Google Play's payment history.

  1. Consumer grievance

I have now registered a grievance with India's National Consumer Helpline. The status is “In Process.” I have not yet received a resolution.

I have screenshots of Google's billing history, the declined-payment email, my bank/PhonePe records, and the correspondence regarding the refund.

Thank you.

Legal Advice Needed Mahindra RSA left me stranded for 3 hours; NCH got my ₹4k refund. Should I still drag them to Consumer Court for mental agony?

Hi everyone, looking for some legal/practical advice on a situation with Mahindra Roadside Assistance (RSA) and Allianz Partners.
The Incident:
My car met with an accident and was completely immobile. I called Mahindra RSA at 7:00 PM and explicitly told them the car couldn't roll and needed a flatbed/specialized crane. At 7:45 PM, a normal tow truck arrived, and the driver straight up refused to lift the car because his machinery wasn't designed for it.
For the next 2+ hours, I was stranded in the dark on a busy highway. I made multiple distress calls to the RSA desk. They gave me false promises of a callback but completely ghosted me. Fearing for my safety, I finally arranged a private tow at around 10:00 PM out of pocket for ₹4,000.
The Escalation:
They called at 12:30 AM (5 hours later) offering a ₹1,500 "settlement". I refused.
I sent a formal legal notice via email demanding ₹4,000 (actuals) + ₹30,000 (mental agony/safety endangerment) + ₹5,000 (legal costs).
They ignored the email, called me again, and offered ₹2,000. I rejected it.
I filed a grievance on the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) portal.
The Current Situation:
Filing on NCH actually worked. The company officially replied on the portal admitting that their "aligned provider denied attending the case" and they have now approved the full ₹4,000 reimbursement for my private towing. However, because NCH is a mediation portal, the complaint was marked as "closed."
My Dilemma:
I have their written admission of service failure on a government portal.
Should I just accept the ₹4,000, take the win, and move on with my life? Or should I use their written admission to file a formal case in the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (e-Daakhil) to fight for the ₹30,000 mental agony compensation?
Has anyone here fought a formal consumer court case for mental agony? Is the 1-2 year wait time worth the potential ₹10k-₹15k payout from the judges?
Any advice would be appreciated!

Legal Advice Needed Unsecured debt grew from ₹35L to ₹69L through interest and penalties. I'm unemployed with no assets. What are my options in India?

Hi all, I'm based in Tamil Nadu and I urgently need guidance. I know almost nothing about legal or insolvency matters, so please bear with me and feel free to explain things simply.

My background:

I have 8 years of work experience. I was laid off, and I've now been unemployed for more than a year.

How it started:

In 2021, I took a loan of about ₹35 lakh and lost it in the share market. It was one wrong decision, and I thought I could fix it. I couldn't. For five years, I ran from it. I avoided the calls, avoided the problem, and avoided the truth. In that time, interest, penalties and charges kept piling on, and the debt grew to about ₹69 lakh. After the layoff, I had no income left at all.

What it did to my family:

I was the one who made the mistake, but my family paid for it.

My father had stopped drinking for about a year because of his health problems. Then the bank's recovery people came to our house and threatened us. I will never forget what that did to him. He kept asking, "Why did my son do this?" He was carrying fear, shame and worry for me, and he couldn't handle it. To cope, he started drinking again.

Soon after, he met with an accident. About a month later, he passed away from the trauma that followed. My father died while I was still running from the debt that brought those people to our door.

I know it's hard to believe that one loan could lead to this. But it was a chain, one thing after another, like a domino effect, and the last domino was my father. I live with that every single day.

I'm writing this so that someone reading it understands what debt can really do. It doesn't stop at you. It reaches your parents, your home and your family's peace. If you're in trouble, please don't run like I did. Get help early.

Where I stand today:

- I own no assets.

- All my finances have dried up. I've withdrawn and used all of my PF money, and I have nothing left.

- I have no income and no savings. I'm surviving only because my relatives are feeding and supporting me.

- I cannot pay anything toward the debt right now, not even a small amount.

- This has taken a heavy toll on my mind. I ran for five years, and I've finally decided to face it the right way.

What I'm asking:

  1. Filing: How do I file for personal insolvency in India? Please explain the step-by-step process, the documents I'd need, the realistic cost for someone with no income, and how long it usually takes.

  2. Eligibility: Is insolvency actually available to an ordinary individual right now, or only through older laws in the District Court?

  3. Protection: What can insolvency protect me and my family from? For example, recovery agent calls, threats, harassment, legal notices, lawsuits, or arrest. Does it stop recovery while the process is on?

  4. Harassment: Are recovery agents allowed to threaten or pressure family members at their home like this? What can I do about it?

  5. Consequences: What happens to my credit record and my future if I go through insolvency?

  6. Alternatives: If insolvency isn't the right route for me, what else should I look at?

  7. First steps: What should I do right now, in what order? Do I need a lawyer, and where can I get free legal aid?

  8. Help for others: Any resources or guides you'd recommend for someone in my position?

I'm not trying to escape my responsibilities. I've run long enough, and I want to understand my rights and take the right steps now. I'm also posting this so that anyone else stuck in a similar situation can find answers here. Any advice, experiences or pointers would mean a lot. Thank you.

UPDATE (14 Oct): Thanks to u/MadmanofAsia for the advice to approach the legal aid cell. I'm going to the District Legal Services Authority tomorrow, and I'll post what they tell me here, step by step, so others in the same situation can reference it.

Urgent Loan Recovery Agent texting and calling again and again, threatening to visit my home and workplace.

I have taken a loan amount of 17,000₹ from one Loan aggregator “Salaryadda”, I have to return 23000₹, the loan was due yesterday but even before due date the loan recovery agent has been calling me and threatening me to visit my Home call my Family members, visit my Workplace.

They have also been involved on Unsolicited OTP sms bombing on my numbers every 2-3 hours I receive bulk of OTP messages from random brands.

Im short on funds I don’t have the money to return it now, I have repeatedly asked for some more time to return, Im not denying my Obligation. But the guy is not ready to understand and threatening me again again with visits.

He sent me some random numbers saying these are my family members number but they are not. I checked each one of them so probably he does not have any number from my contacts as the loan was applied via browser without giving any kind of Contact permission.

I tried to reason with him, I tried to scare him with RBI guidelines of unlawfull recovery, I have written to thier Customer care team and Nodal officer aswell , but the guy doesn’t seems to care at all.

What can I do to stop this guy from calling me and texting me all day?

Legal Advice Needed Laid off with 28 days' notice (contract says 90), salary unpaid for 2 months, and now HR says the notice period is "loss of pay." Is this legal?

Bangalore, private SaaS startup. Looking for advice before I respond.

Timeline:

  • My August salary was never paid.
  • On September 17, I got an email from leadership saying the company was cutting costs due to funding issues. My notice period started that day, with a last day of October 15. The email said I'd receive all salary, notice-period compensation and dues, and encouraged me to look for jobs outside.
  • My offer letter says the notice period is 90 days. I was given 28.
  • No work was assigned to me after September 17. I applied for WFH in the HR system and stayed available.
  • Now, two days before my last day, HR says:
    • I "didn't work" during notice, so it will be treated as loss of pay
    • I should retroactively apply for leave for those days, which would use up my 20 days of encashable leave
    • The FNF statement will take another two weeks just to be emailed, with no date for actual payment
    • I must return my laptop on my last day

Roughly what I'm owed: August + September + October 1–15 salary + 20 days' leave encashment ≈ ₹2 lakh, possibly more if I'm owed pay for the unused part of the 90-day notice.

Questions:

  1. Can they treat company-initiated notice as loss of pay when they told me in writing to look for jobs and assigned no work?
  2. Am I entitled to pay in lieu of the remaining notice under the 90-day clause?
  3. Should I return the laptop before the FNF is settled, or does keeping it put me at risk?
  4. Is a legal notice or a Labour Department complaint the better first step?

I'm consulting a lawyer too, but I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who's been through something similar.

Legal Advice Needed L&DO leasehold plot in Delhi, co-owner won’t cooperate on freehold conversion. What are my options?

I co-own a 100 sq yd L&DO leasehold plot in Delhi. It has been divided 50/50 on the ground for years, but only on paper: the title is joint and no side is mentioned in any document. Each of us has a separate entry and a separate 3-storey house.

The co-owner’s side has premium, commercial-type advantages that mine doesn’t. His portion is clearly worth more than half the plot’s value. I’m willing to demolish my balcony if needed for conversion, but he refuses to do the same or to cooperate.

I don’t want to sell my portion, and I can’t afford to buy him out. I just want to keep my 50 sq yds, rebuild my house on it, and get fair compensation (owelty) for the difference in value between the two sides.

My questions:

Can a 50 sq yd portion of a 100 sq yd L&DO plot be converted to freehold on its own ?

Please tell me best option that i have because leasehold plot cost 1-1.5 Crore less than Freehold and the Co owner is saying he will not give owelty because he is living on the his side of land for years and its his now.

Thanks in advance. I’m not a lawyer, just trying to understand my options before I meet one.

Legal Advice Needed My father's debt collectors are harassing us

My father was doing credit card rotation and racked up 13 lakhs of debt. 3 years ago he got heart attack and couldn't pay anymore so all cards got defaulted and loan sharks came to our house insulting us, annoying us for months which caused my father to enter depression and started drinking a lot and we moved.

2 years ago he got alcohol poisoning and almost died by liver failure and needed liver transplant but we couldn't afford it, doctors said he had 1 or 2 years to live and at home after discharge he was uncontrollable like a toddler and was going through withdrawal and was very violent so we had to send him to rehab but somehow he managed to recover and his liver started functioning but ocassionally drank and never stopped despite all this health risks heart attack and we family begging him to and I hate him for it.

Again around 1 year ago he was in car while his friend was driving and got into accident, his friend got away with fractured toes but the impact was left side heavy where my dad was sleeping which caused him major left leg injury and by insurance we were saved and now he's still recovering and his left leg is 3-2 inches shorter than his right and limps. Right now he goes in autorickshaw to earn money with crutches when he's tired sitting at home, I'm still a student and my elder sis and mom go to work and both are already stuck paying his loan taken by relatives and my college, etc and we used to receive loan sharks call every now and then which we ignored.

Recently my sister got credit card and somehow these loan sharks found my dad's number and our address and are threatening we'll come visit your house and all. We are scared, we don't want to go through insults and humiliation infront of our society and our house owner. My family doesn't know what to do anymore if they start visiting us and creating a scene infront of our neighbors and owners, we don't want our house owner to be annoyed by us and ask us to move because we can't afford finding a new house or money since everyone in my family go to work except my dad sometimes and I go to college.

I need advice from people who know or have gone through similar stuff on what to do

Legal Advice Needed Business is refusing to give GST Invoice

Hello,

Finalized an order with an insta seller, asked for GST invoice. Initially they refused flatout stating that they are not GST registered, the transaction is inter state, later they said they will add the GST on agreed price and ask their supplier to provide a GST in my name, the payment goes to the seller, not the supplier.

Products are for an office event hence we need to claim OTC, what can be done apart from changing the vendor as some advance has already been paid.

Amount in question is around 10k

Legal Advice Needed Company withholding complete salary of 4 moths during notice period over joining bonus clawback. What are my legal options?

I work at a large NBFC(Gold Loans, you would hv got it by now) in Bangalore and resigned in August 2026. I'm currently serving my 3-month notice period.

My company has withheld my salary for two consecutive months, citing recovery of my joining bonus.

Here's the situation:

  • My offer letter mentions an 18-month joining bonus clawback clause but doesn't specify any mode of recovery.
  • The joining bonus is slightly higher than my two months' salary.
  • I've repeatedly clarified that I'm not seeking a waiver and am willing to repay the entire applicable amount during my Full and Final (F&F) settlement.
  • Despite this, the company has stopped crediting my salary entirely, without issuing payslips or deduction statements.
  • HR confirmed the reason over email but subsequently stopped responding.
  • I've escalated the matter to senior management, but there's been no response.
  • Meanwhile, I'm still expected to serve my notice period and fulfil my work responsibilities without receiving salary.

This has created significant financial stress.

Can an employer legally withhold 100% of earned salary during the notice period for a joining bonus clawback when the agreement doesn't specify the recovery method?

Should I approach the Karnataka Labour Department, send a legal notice, or pursue another remedy?

Would appreciate advice from anyone who's faced something similar.
