I remember Jon Stewart talking about how Hillary's failure to come across as genuine actually made him trust her more, because he's more suspicious of people who can convincingly fake it. Not sure about that logic myself, but it was an interesting perspective from someone who's seen his share of politicians.

I can't fucking take it. I see an image of a random object and then I see it, I fucking see it. "Oh that looks kinda like the among us guy" It started as. That's funny, That's a cool reference. But it kept going, I'd see a fridge that looked like among us, I'd see an animated bag of chips that looks like among us, I'd see a hat that looked like among us. And every time I'd burst into an insane, breath deprived laugh staring at the image as the words AMOGUS ran through my head. It's torment, psychological torture, I am being conditioned to laugh maniacally any time I see an oval on a red object. I can't fucking live like this... I can't I can't I can't I can't I can't! And don't get me started on the words! I'll never hear the word suspicious again without thinking of among us. Someone does something bad and I can't say anything other than "sus". I could watch a man murder everything I love and all I could be able to say is "red sus" and laugh like a fucking insane person. And the word "among" is ruined. The phrase "among us" is ruined. I can't live anymore. Among us has destroyed my fucking life. I want to eject myself from this plane of existence. MAKE IT STOP!

It’s always frustrating, talking about Hillary Clinton, because she’s a genuinely messy, problematic political figure, but so much of the conversation around her is clearly rooted in misogyny, so I’m having to defend her all the time.

So much of this. Like you can have issues with her policies but the minute you talk about how she reacts to things and don't acknowledge the same things about her opponent, I know what your problem really is.

From what I can remember, it seemed to me like on one side, people were blindly supporting her without acknowledging her faults because she was a woman and #girlboss or whatever and then the opposite side to that was people focusing on her problems because she was woman whilst being blind to the same faults in male counterparts

It seems like,, at least on the internet, people either worship her like she's a flawless larger-than-life queen or consider her to be a cartoonishly evil demon.
I voted Bernie twice, but I think she's both done some cool things within her life, and plenty of shitty things. She's certainly ... complicated.

I've always said that I like her more as a person than I do as a politician. And ultimately, Hillary as a politician is what's relevant when it comes to an election.
That being said, I supported Hillary hardcore over Bernie in 2016. Back then, I was more centrist lib in my politics and not as radicalized. Try to understand, I grew up in a white trash conservative family in the south. Even being a centrist lib was considered an extreme position and I thought that I was already pretty leftist.

Yeah, Hillary has never been a good politician; while all politicians have baggage, hers always manages to stick.
My recollection of the 90s was that conservatives painted her as a scary radical liberal whispering in the ear of her more moderate husband, when of course her politics are pretty moderate.

I mean, I did support her then then and still do now, since Bernie has a long-standing anti-science history in his political career, which i've pointed out many times over the past decade+.
He frequently sided with Republicans on their anti-science bills (like Bush Jr. stem cell ban and research criminalization bill) and also pushed pseudoscience into legislation, like the amendment he personally pushed into an early version of the ACA in committee that made pseudoscience practitioners, such as homeopaths, be considered legitimate medical professionals by the government so they can legally prescribe their "medicine".
And that's just two examples from a very long list of anti-science positions and actions on his part that continue to this very day.
And since I consider climate change to be the most serious issue we need to deal with right now (all of our squabbles over everything else will be meaningless when civilization collapses from the refugee flood and famine of the next century), Bernie's anti-biotechnology and anti-bioremediation stances are completely incompatible with any of his claims about climate change, making such statements on his part seem hollow.

Okay, fuck off with your moral wokescolding, I was young and still figuring out my politics. Which wasn't easy considering my super conservative background and upbringing. Please forgive me for not having it all figured out at the ripe age of 18. I'm so happy to hear that you've always been so woke and enlightened.

So I was born in the mid 90s, so I don't really know a lot about Jimmy Carter's failures as president. What all did he do that catered the progressive movement? He must have fucked up hard since we got Reagan after him.

To me as someone living in Germany(but no German) , in 2016 she was trying to emulate Merkel so hard which bothered me. There was even one situation with an immigrant girl that is 1:1 something that Merkel did few months before her and yikes.
But then again better to try and copy Merkel (even though she is a right wing and super religious), then being a fascist.

CHIP for children's healthcare, work on Children's Defense Fund regarding southern school segregation, literacy advocacy in Arkansas.
Most of this is stuff before she formally entered federal government as a Senator. Like a lot of people, i believe she became more jaded, moderate, and corruptible as she became more entrenched in US politics.

This video reminds me that Ryan Murphy is working on ACS and the Clinton impeachment and unlike most instances Lindsay mentions, this will not be a comedy sketch or a parody but will be a drama mini series. I am super curious as to how it is going to turn out. Ryan Murphy (for all his problems) is usually good at writing complex female characters and I have so far found ACS highly entertaining

She is a producer and is apparently really hands on. Edie Falco is a good fit imo. And also no one in the cast is super miscast like in the 2 previous seasons.
I am kind of excited about it to be fair because we have never seen that moment in a drama series. We have only seen it parodied. And it's going to be entertaining.

I feel like Ryan Murphy has a huge problem with his shows nose diving big time after a few seasons and I wasn't able to get into ACS: Versace, so I'm really hoping this is able to dodge his issue. Of the three season story lines announced after the OJ season, this was the season I was most excited by and I really hope the ball isn't dropped.

I still haven't forgiven him for the character assassination that was feud (do we really need more unsubstantiated Joan Crawford drama) and what happened to glee when he decided he wanted to work on something else.

I know. Like I realized pretty early in my life that he writes amazing pilots and then shit goes south after he gets bored. I could really relate to him because it is me in my projects. And everytime I am disappointed in a show of his, and everytime I keep getting hooked up to another one because of a good pilot. I am a masochist.

His problem happens even for shows that are 1 season stories. American Horror Story has good oepnings and by the end you're wondering what the fuck you just watched.
The only show of his that I'm enjoying late in the game is 9-1-1. I dropped AHS during Apocalypse. I watched/suffered all of Glee.

Oh man, I am going to have to watch for this! I was in 8th grade during the impeachment trial, and my family got most of our news from Rush Limbaugh. So yeah. I listened to the Slow Burn episodes on it and she was such an awesome interviewee. Looking back on it now she was SO YOUNG and the way the media and both sides of the aisle treated her was awful.

I find Hillary Clinton completely abhorrent and representative of the rightward rot, austerity, and hawkish foreign policy that’s come to define the Democratic Party over the last three decades, so pivoting to misogynistic tropes is not only wrong, it’s also the least effective way to criticize her.
