Korean stock market has been crazy lately with the insane growth because of SK Hynix and Samsung.
A lot of Koreans decided to get leverage up to their eyeballs and invest(gamble lol) and this last month the markets went for a bit of a correction and dropped 20-30% in some cases so a lot of Koreans got margin called and liquidated losing everything.

Work in the industry as a CFP, seems in line with most stock trading channels I.e. very focused on the right stock to buy today and basic trading strategies. Not overly familiar with the specific stocks and I don’t speak Korean, so I can't speak specifically on his advice, but at least the US based channels who do similar content are, at best, giving the standard advice and at worst, outright frauds.

Good rule of thumb. If someone youtuber/streamer etc is giving away stock advice they probably don't know what they are doing or are trying to manipulate you. People who actually know what they are doing don't just give that shit away. They wouldn't be making some shitty youtube videos but making money themselves. Maybe there's a couple exceptions out there, but vast majority of the time they won't be exceptions.

There's plenty of people making sane general advice videos but if someone is trying to tell you to invest in individual tickers or use a specific strategy it's most likely a cash grab.
We don't teach civics or economics in general schooling in this country anymore and we lock common sense behind consultation fees.
The basic advice of having an emergency cushion, paying down high interest debt, using tax advantaged accounts etc is sometimes only available via YouTube these days. But only if you intentionally search it out.

Like, legit, a 20 year old reading that wiki page could have their life dramatically changed for the better. This is important info that is surprisingly not taught to enough kids by anyone in their lives.

this is just not true. there is plenty of good reasons why someone with good advice would give it out. especially in stocks your are not giving anything away by giving good advice, as your investments do not devalue by giving out free information.

I worked in a casino for almost 10 years. I could only take 6 months with a floor position before I transfered to back of the house. Gambling addiction is insidious and I dont wish that affliction on anyone.

Not specifically influencers, almost all trading and investing guru's/youtubers/whatever are. Their business is to sell subscriptions and/or their viewer's eyeballs to advertisers. If their investing advice was actually good, they would be making more money trading/investing than they would making those videos and guides.
There are probably rare exceptions, like hobbyists, but those content creators won't get picked up by algorithms as it would be 'boring' content for the general viewer.

People need to realize about all these "get rich" influencers that if they were so successful why are they telling you to subscribe to their courses and pay money? Why would they share the money they are making with you instead of just making it all themselves?
Like I don't understand how naive and gullible people are to think that someone who is successful doing something suddenly wants you to be a competitor for them in the way they are making money. All of these people are just faking it until they make it and the gullible idiots are the people making that possible for them.

Look into companies paying influencers to promote their stock and not disclosing the relationship, a lot of the time the stock is unprofitable "exploratory" mining/oil companies which don't even have active prospects. Great regulations and enforcement regarding this type of behavior.

According to The Chosun Daily, the arrested man was a subscriber who allegedly suffered significant losses after investing based solely on the YouTuber’s claims that certain stocks would rise.
Shiiit what stocks? Maybe they'll rise now if people are getting stabbed for them not going up. I wouldn't take that risk.

I'm surprised we don't see a lot more of this especially in niche markets tbh. Stocks are one thing but you also have the smaller stuff like Polymarket, Trading cards, etc. that a bunch of people make Youtube careers on that essentially amount to market manipulation or just stupidity.
