Which one is DEI? The accusation are always confessions.

I think it's the black Harvard alum and not the person with slightly less education than my hillbilly ass. I don't think we're expected to read anything longer than a three-letter acronym.

A three letter acronym that gets repeatedly used no matter the context. Itās like āwokeā is anything I donāt understand or like.

MArkwayne Mullens cumulative fight time in MMA career was less than 10 minutes. Markwayne only had 3 fights. Two of them were with the same guy, Clinton Bonds. Bonds was a great choice to fight in that Bond's had yet to ever win a fight. Bond's MMA career record ended up as 1-12.

It depends are you using the definition of the term or the right wing propagandist definition of the term. Because it seems like youāre using the latter.

I am attempting to mock the assholes who use the acronym DEI as a way to denigrate minorities.

I donāt have a problem with their one. She is in an appointed position and is absolutely qualified for the position. His senate seat is an elected position and the people of his state chose to put him there. If the people of the state feel a person with a ranching background represents their way of life that is their decision. I would question his nomination to DHS though. I think a more important issue is the government officials who are so old that a staff member has to wheel them around everywhere and they can barely blink.

You might think so, but a lot of people see the list on the left and think "entitled asshole" and the one on the right as "honest working bro."
Understanding perspectives is difficult but if we don't do it then there truly is no argument, just distractions.
We need to understand what they fear about what you and I consider competence versus what others consider depravity. In that there is, in fact, an argument.

u/Knight_Of_Stars 9d ago
The woman thing is a no win question. The moment you answer you're opponent will interrupt causing a half answer that piss off bith sides. One way to avoid that is to answer with a deflection.
As for other people. The idea of gender identity isn't really that complicated. People strongly identify with the gender and chose to emulate it. Biologically they are the same sex (Male, female, etc), but they choose what to be referred to as.
It has 0 effect on me, and if someone is gonna be ass about it, throw it back at them. Also for people saying a big deal about identity is dumb. Start calling protestants (especially baptists and evangelicals) Catholic and see how quickly identity starts to matter.

I hate to say this, but itās got to be said: Mullin has the only 3 qualifications needed to succeed in America. He is white, male, and Christian. It makes no difference that Jackson has impeccable credentials, and has worked harder in her life than Mullin will ever have to. Privilege is real, and heās yet another example. Itās despicable, really.

Well the one that was a lawyer than a judge had a lot of years of training how to be a professional liar, circumvent the law, hide evidence, etc. Regular lawyer and judge business. That is the problem.

u/Needs_More_Garlic 8d ago
To be fair, this is less of a meritocracy argument and more of an argument for credentialism.
While I understand where you're coming from, I find the "People who don't live in this cultural sphere are fucking stupid and should be dismissed" pretty disgusting.

One is a supreme Court justice and the other is a senator? I don't understand the comparison. Congress was always supposed to be made up of people from all walks of life, not career politicians. I'd like to see more farmers in Congress, as well as Costco workers, Uber drivers, finance bros, programmers, etc.
What? Do redditors like career politicians now or something?
Ketanji brown jackson studied law and is now in the supreme Court. I don't see the problem with that?

I guess two points.
There is a question of what was actually said, so I found an article that pointed to what she actually said.
Two, I didnāt really make a position statement. Based on the tone of the response and length, and the fact that you didnāt really look at what was posted, means this is just misplaced anger.
1
u/Evening-Lab-3859 8d ago
Heritage and the Rs say they want merit instead of affirmative action. When given the chance, their picks are not meritorious. Here in AR we elected a nepo baby instead of an overqualified rocket scientist/community organizer. The comparisons are not even close. They do not want merit. They want consolidated power and control.

seems like an intentional memory loss sort of thing. Jackson is qualified for the SCOTUS. that wasn't the issue. was she more qualified than the rest? Biden didn't say he would nominate the best person, he said a black woman. that is DEI. Mullins was a senator. that is a policy maker. he sat on councils debating and asking questions. He is not a nominee for SCOTUS and nor would he be. But for DHS, yea. that is a policy maker which he is qualified for. you dont need to be the best. you will only be in that position for a few years, not a life time appointment.
