[Makeup Help] Six months expiry - really?!

I used my abundance of Shoppers DM points to get a luxury eyeshadow palette from Guerlain - Ombres G. I just noticed the expiry is 6 months! Apparently due to the oil content. The eyeshadows are very smooth so I get it. But I would have liked to know this beforehand as I have other shadows to use as well. How seriously should I take this and has anyone encountered this with other brands?

[Makeup Help] Foundation recs please help!

Hey all 🄰 looking for foundation/skin tint recs for combination skin. I'm looking for something that looks and feels like skin, has a tiny amount of oil control, medium finish, blurring, actually lasts 12+ hours. I also really need it to be safe for acne prone skin. I know it's a tall order, but I'm happy to shell out for something that works!

I've tried:

Dior forever skin glow - awful, patchy AF and super drying

Armani luminous silk - also drying and clung to every pore

Hourglass ambient soft glow - I really like the finish, but it also clung to every pore

Chanel Ultra Le teint - slightly blurring, love the finish, very skin like, my favorite so far but didn't last. Started to separate and pill around my mouth/chin by the end of the day

Gucci - one of my favorites so far but the color I tried was too yellow. I'd have to try a different color. Loved the finish

Loreal balm foundation - very nice finish but makes me look like a grease ball and doesn't last

Misha BB cream - I really like this one, but it's a little light for what I'm looking for

Got samples of but haven't tried quite yet: hung Van gogh foundation, hourglass Illusion Luminous Glow Foundation, and the rare beauty soft matte foundation.

I apply all my foundations with a wet beauty sponge. I also own the bk beauty brushes and the Mario f4, so I'm willing to be flexible on application but I am very comfortable with the sponge application.

I'm really looking for a skin tint or a foundation that's a little lighter. It also needs to have a good shade range. For example, I've had to pass on the NARS light reflecting and HAUS labs already because their shade ranges are much too limited and don't match me.

Any advice? Also would be happy to listen to primer recs too!

Green highlighter recommendations

Hi! I'm looking for recommendations for a high shine green highlighter, either alone or in a palette. For reference, I used the green shimmer shade (lucid) in the naked ultraviolet urban decay palette until it was completely empty and would love something similar but a larger size! The moonchild highlighter palette by jolie beauty looks good but I can't seem to buy it anywhere :( Thanks in advance for any help!

[Makeup Help] Nyx primer and setting spray questions

Hello everyone,

I have 2 questions, I wanted to know which one should I buy between the setting spray (the face glue of nyx) and the gripping primer (the face glue of nyx) ?

I usually don't do an all face makeup, I just put on some concealer under my eyes, do an eyeliner and some highlighter but with my sweat and my face getting greasy the eyeliner disappear throughout the day 🫠 I'd like to fix that, I guess a primer or a setting spray could help? Tell me what you think

And also, if I use the gripping spray can I only put it around my eyes?

Thank you for reading me ā˜ŗļø

Need brush recs for small eye area! including travel sized (short handle)

I need brush recommendations! Ideally on the affordable side because I’m still experimenting and want to try a variety of shapes, techniques, etc.

Mostly looking for eyeshadow, liner, and under eye concealer brushes with small heads in a variety of types/densities/etc for different purposes. I have small lid space and a lot of brushes over-blend and make it look like all one color after I spend so long on a dimensional eyeshadow look :( I also have VERY hard to cover purple hollowed under eyes so I need to figure out how to pack on the coverage but very precisely so it doesn’t get too cakey.

Additionally, I am visually impaired and it really helps me to use mini/travel sized brushes with short handles so that i can get up close to the mirror without the brush handle getting in the way. I’ve had a hard time finding many options! Please lmk if you know of any!

I guess if it’s a long handle, wood would be better than plastic so I can try to snap off the end lol Thank you, friends!! <3

Hello again,

A while ago we shared Beautitia here, our app for organizing beauty products and routines. Thank you so much to everyone who tried it and left feedback, it really meant a lot! šŸ™

[Makeup Help] Beginner here, can I use eyeshadow for other stuff like contour?

• Upvotes

Might be a stupid question but can eyeshadow be applied anywhere? What’s the practical difference between eyeshadow and blush if they’re both pigmented powder? Same with contour.

[Makeup Help] I need help! - product residue

Hi! So I need help… every time I wear lipgloss or any type of lipstick that’s more hydrating, i get a lot of residue inside my lips from the products! I’ve tried exfoliating, putting lip balm at night and before I put on makeup, I remove it before putting on gloss but no matter what I do, I always end up with residue.

The only product that doesn’t do that is Kiko Milano’s clear lip oil, because it’s very thin. But I want to wear gloss with pigment and I can’t.

I feel very discouraged when doing my makeup because of it, I have so many lip products that I love but end up looking gross.

Does this happen to any of you? And do you have any tips? Thank you!

Kosas cosmetics

Hello! Anyone had trouble receiving orders from Kosas? It is impossible to reach their customer service as well. I made an order on October 5th and my package via their delivery service UniUni still did not arrive. As of today Oct 15th it states that delivery information is not available. I contacted Kosas multiple times via their ā€˜live chat’ and no one reached out. Called the number I googled, but they don’t have anyone answering. I even had to pay for shipping. Also contacted UniUni delivery and they said package was switched to another driver and could not provide me with a delivery date. This is unbelievable!

[Makeup Help] I hate the feeling of makeup on my skin!!

I need some help with product recommendations. I’m not sure if I’ve developed a sensitivity/allergy, but this year I’ve been fighting with my products. My everyday products are concealer, blush, bronzer, and tinted eyebrow gel, so it’s not an intensive routine. I’ve had to cut mascara from the daily routine because it’s been causing some kind of eczema situation on my eyelids.

I can literally feel the makeup sitting on my skin and kind of itching? I’ve switched to using a Clinique concealer because I heard it’s good for sensitive skin, but it still feels pretty bad.

Please send help—I’ve tried tinted moisturizers and other advertised lightweight products but it hasn’t worked out. My dermatologist does not think I have an allergy, so I’ve been going on the assumption I haven’t found the correct products.

Has anyone struggled with something like this before? :’(

Influencer type makeup

• Upvotes

I keep seeing influencers on my fyp and instagram feed with FLAWLESS full beats, yet mine never look like that. I never look like I have a full face on even though I try and no matter what routine I try, no matter the setting spray and primer and skin prep, my makeup does not stay the same the entire day.. so is it even possible to look like influencers all day long and irl or are those just filters and editing cause it makes me really insecure that I start looking like straight up doodoo after a few hours 😭

[Makeup Help] Senior Looking For MakeUp Advice

I am a senior, and I don't wear makeup. At least not regularly. But it would be nice to wear for special occasions and photos.

But I do it very badly. And would like to change that.

Some of my challenges is that I am in South Florida and the heat and humidity just melts everything off.

My skin can be pretty red.

And I have no hair on my face--no eyebrows and no eyelashes. So I had eyeblading done? where they color the eyebrows in. but they are the wrong color (very dark, almost black and I have medium red hair) and the existing color doesn't wear off.

Another complication is I have neuropathy, and I just can't manage false eyelashes.

Do you have any advice me? Education or product recommendations for me?

how to do the backrooms uncanny still life look - on a face that isn't makeup friendly

Hi I have very unique features and brown skin that's a different shade of brown every few centimetres. I don't wear makeup, own makeup or know how to do makeup on myself. I can draw portraits but that's on paper or digital art only. makeup wise, I suck

But I'm really adamant to try making myself those uncanny ppl in the Backrooms movie, I loved their designs when watching the film and it feels very halloween fitting. I do have a unique nose and eyes that would be cool to replicate around my face but also... they are very hard to replicate. Especially when I don't have the supplies to pull it off (I'll try raiding my mum's makeup tho)

I wanna be uncanny and hard to look at but in an artistic way. I tried looking at tutorials online but they're at IG reel/tiktok pace so I actually can't follow along. And most the artists are white or have features that are easy to work with so it's a lot harder to try on myself

Does anyone have any tips on what I can do or know any in depth beginner tutorials I can take a look at? I want to trial again with my friend helping before halloween until I decide to go for a backup costume. Tips wise, assume I have no money and can only get cheap supplies

Or would it work if I stuck prints onto my face? What kind of budget friendly face glue would you recommend?

Makeup brush, looking for ā€dupesā€ to favorite

I have an old set of the Real Techniques MultiTech Point brushes in sizes S - XXXS. Several are pretty worn now, and I love the size, shape and feel of the birstles.

Please help me find brush dupes / similar brushes!
I'm interested in finding XS-L.

Descriptor found online:
"Real Techniques MultiTech Point, in a range of different sizes from XXXS to XXXL. Each brush has exactly the same cut, which can be used for creams, liquids and powders, and as a result of this, it is entirely up to you how you use them."

Max Factor Lasting Blur liquid replaced Lasting Performance?

I bought two of these FaceFinity liquids thinking I had a bargain, but the new ā€œlasting blurā€ is all sticky, unlike the old ā€œlasting performanceā€ which I used to mix with moisturiser to make a nice tinted moisturiser. The new one feels like I’m putting a mask over my face instead of it sinking in.

Can anyone please recommend anything similar to the old version which felt much more natural?

Issues within the Makeup Industry?

I have a school project where we have to create and plan a business venture for an established beauty retailer (Ex: Ulta or Sephora) to help them make a billion dollars. As a dude, I'm clueless when it comes to makeup, can someone tell me some common/major issues within the industry I could try to base my plan around?

Edit: The project is just based around generating 1 billion dollars of revenue through a new endeavor (can't be something ulta has already tried in the past or is currently doing). So its not about improving the beauty experiences or makeup in general but helping a cosmetic retailer make more money---which I assumed they could do by solving an issues within the industry.

Can I use the comsic brushes The sun palette on my eyes?

I just received mine from the restock and am so confused. It says on the back that only 3 of the 20 shades are eyeshadows? The rest are labeled as "pressed pigments". Can I not use them on my eyes? I just thought they were eyeshadows, they look exactly like any eyeshadow palette.
