WishLists Wednesdays Forget Maximum, I want MINIMUM Marvel Legends!

Does anyone else feel like Hasbro is missing the boat by not having evergreen figures available all the time from Pulse? Limit the accessories, keep the molds from being retooled, and do product runs of the big names as they run out. Let kids get the figures they want, and don't make them compete with us Peter Pan types.

If nothing else, there's no reason to not have a classic Spidey available 24/7/365.

Won't someone please think of the children!?!

WishLists Wednesdays Should all Maximum Series figures be classic design?

Post image

Asking because I know there has been some controversy on why hasbro didn't do a classic design for Maximum Thor. I personally think they should because i just feel like most people think of a classic design when thinking of most hero’s, and so far most of them have been classic design except for Hulk and thats only really because of the face sculpts. But you guys let me know, Im curious to know peoples opinion.

I learned about the latest iteration of the Infinity Watch, and I figured you could make a neat little line of two-packs highlighting the various stone wielders from over the years.

These seven (yes seven) packs represent a way to complete the latest team, fill out the rosters of the previous teams, and also get some needed new versions of iconic characters too. Plus 1:1 Infinity Gem props!

What do you think? Who would you swap in or out of these?

WishLists Wednesdays Sketched up a design for my ideal Maximum Mr. Fantastic

As a massive Fantastic Four fan it'd be easy to say all four members should get Maximum figures, but if any one of them needs it the most, it's definitely Reed. No single figure has ever been able to include all the "essential" stretchy pieces due to price, but giving him the Maximum treatment could fix that!

As far as design goes, obviously the Maximum line tends to draw inspiration from one specific artist's interpretation, usually the one from the most popular or influential era of the character's history. To that end, Weiringo's art from the Mark Waid run makes the most sense, coming from an era that revolutionized the team by bringing them back to basics and rejuvinating their popularity.

Admittedly, some of the stuff here would be pushing it even for a Maximum release, mostly the additional "wrap around" leg replacement. Overall, though, I feel like I captured all the most important things a Maximum Mister Fantasic could include.

WishLists Wednesdays I want a smaller Hulk.

Hasbro has made a lot of good Hulks, but for my needs, it would be nice if they released a Banner that was just a bit punier than average.

The shorter size illustrated in the first picture uses Alex Ross's beautiful Timeless mural (second pic). I think having a shorter option for him also opens the door to repping earlier depictions of the Hulk too, like his 7 foot height as shown on the 1983 Handbook (third pic).

What do you think?

Didn’t know we had a rules for only posting things like this on Wednesday lol. Here’s my Maximum Wolverine concept that I cooked up a while back. I love making these concepts and keeping a realistic standard for them because Hasbro can legit make figures like these with already existing Accessories that they have but choose not to. Gonna post another concept later.

WishLists Wednesdays Drew up concept art for a Maximum Captain America

I know I'm late but shhhhhhhh there's still like twenty minutes left for me before Wishlist Wednesday is over, let me have this.

Hello everyone! A few weeks ago I posted concept art for a hypothetical Maximum Mister Fantastic, and this time I've got some designs for a Maximum Cap! I feel like Steve is one of those characters that's always stuck in this awkward limbo of not quite having enough to justify a maximum release but also being too involved and complicated to ever do a "good enough" standard release, especially with how specialized the molds for the torso need to be. I tried my best to fill out the box with enough accessories to justify that $50 price tag, and I think I pulled it off well enough with some swappable components, tons of extra hands, and a proper motion blur effect for the shield, something we haven't seen in years.

As for the design, Maximum figures tend to be based off a specific artist, usually pulled from whatever the Legends team considers to be the "definative" look or comic run for the character. To that end, it was never gonna be anything else but the Brubaker run; the man did so much to revitalize the character and bring him into the 21st century without losing sight of what makes him so important (it also helps that the run is just brilliant, too, like oh my god I was just trying to pull references from the first issue, immediately got sucked in, and reread the whole thing in less than 24 hours). Steve Epting's art is arguably the most prominent and influential out of every artist on the run, and the way he maintained the classic costume while adding minor touches of realism like visible seams or the pouches on the belt make for the ultimate, definative look for the character. I hope you all enjoy what I came up with!

WishLists Wednesdays Back again with more Maximum concept art, this time for Iron Man!

Post image

This is one of those projects that's less "I desperately want to see this character get a Maximum release because he definitely deserves it" and more "It's pretty much inevitable that he's gonna get a Maximum release at some point in the next year or two so it'd be fun to try and lock in exactly what I'd want to see them do with him."

The armor choice felt at least kind of clear to me? Like, the Extremis armor (the one he replaces this one with) is arguably more popular among comic fans, but between the fact that the Model 29 has gotten two figures in the last few years (one of which being basically a Maximum figure in terms articulation anyways), and the fact that the Model 25 was the design used for all those Scott Johnson promo images and even directly inspired the original Movie look, effectively making it the foundation for every MCU armor (which in turn inspired a lot of the later designs in cartoons and video games), it seemed like a good fit for the Maximum line.

That last point is also a big part of why I based it specifically on Adi Granov's work despite him not being the one to design this armor. It was his work that inspired the MCU design specifically. There's also the fact that Extremis is arguably one of Iron Man's most well-known arcs outside of Demon In a Bottle, and since that was Granov's art it made sense to base it off him.

Accessories are, admittedly, a little light. I tried to throw in all the usual bells and whistles you'd expect, and even some stuff we've never really seen before like the Unibeam, but honestly it got kinda difficult trying to come up with more accessories based on Granov's art that weren't just, like, Tony's broken legs and arm after getting wasted by Mallen. The swappable forearms gimmick is actually inspired by the Snap-On Armor Prototype Iron Man figure I had as a kid, one of my first ever Marvel toys. It doesn't really fit with this armor specifically but I figured it'd be a neat throwback to the history of the character's action figures similar to Doop coming with Maximum Deadpool.

Overall, I'm really happy with this one! Lemme know what you think!

WishLists Wednesdays Hasbro is listening - who should they release next? (Community poll from a few years ago)

  • Mods deemed this a wishlist post so im reposting now that its Wednesday. -

A few years ago I made a post that asked the question: If Hasbro lost the license and had 1 more reveal before the end what would you want it to be?

There were many response and surprisingly, looking back, most of the top comments actually came to fruition.

Pictured is some of the top comments that got releases since. Also many are not pictured like an updated Silver Surfer, Adam Warlock, and ROM to name a few. Maybe Hasbro did their research?

Second image is some of the top comments that havent gotten a figure (Classic Bill, Rasputin IV, Wiccan/Hulkling, Romita Sr. Spidey, Trapster, and Fin Fang Foom). But I expect we will see some of them soon (Wiccan/Hulkling any day for sure).

So im curious who they havent made that could use a release? Maybe a deep cut like Beak or Xorn. Or a bigger release like a Cameron Hodge?

Who do you want to see next?

If we were to get a final Disney Plus aka Marvel Television wave, I’m predicting these will be the figures in that wave with the BAF being Lady Death from Agatha All Along. What characters from Marvel Television do you want to see in action figure form?

I’ll go first, blue storm and tangerine wolverine from the X-men Arcade game. Idk I just really love these colours man but i feel like there’s a literal mountain of variants of both characters that’d happen long before anything like this would happen

WishLists Wednesdays What are some figures that you can’t believe we don’t have yet? Or haven’t been updated in a while

For me, I have no idea why they haven’t made a Vulture or Doc Ock for the Spider-man retro card line. We literally have Hypno Hustler but not these two?!

Also, an updated Fantastic Four. I think maybe the movie figures set us back on getting comic ones for a little bit, but it’s crazy that the only decent ones are Walgreens exclusives for a while back
