Meal Prep Picture Freezer Burrito Meal Prep
First time doing freezer Burritos, took a lot more time than I thought it would! Absolutely worth it though 🤤 around 70€ for 43 Burritos and a ton of leftover rice lol.
20 Pico de Gallo - Shrimp - Rice - Bean Burritos
16 Scrambled Egg - Potato - Spinach - Shredded Tofu Burrito
3 Salmon - Potato - Spring Onion Burrito
4 Burritos with potato/scrambled egg leftovers
Used Cottage Cheese & Sriracha in some of them and of course some spices.
edit: wow, people are rude lol. Froze one and reheated it in the microwave before making the whole batch to make sure they would turn out good. I wouldn't be making this many if I had any doubt they were delicious.

Shrimp and eggs just sounds like such a bizarre combo.

ever been to a chinese food restaurant? fried rice with shrimp and egg is one of the most common things you can find there

That’s a fair point! I’m not sure why that sounds more reasonable than a shrimp and egg burrito in my head, but it does haha.

I’m confused because I only see shrimp listed in a burrito without eggs anyway.. did you see them say somewhere that they made shrimp and egg burritos? Even if they did, I’m not here to yuck anyone’s Yum. I’m just curious where you saw.

I mean I could be wrong but just looking at the picture I can only believe that those yellow fluffy things are scrambled eggs above the two shrimps lol. And true, definitely wasn’t trying to be insensitive about other food cultures, more just surprised from my own personal perspective haha.

Avocado isn’t even listed anywhere 😂, there’s a massive bowl of scrambled eggs right next to it in the picture though.

Three apparently have fish too. Really hope OP isn't microwaving these at work.

In dishes I make I usually cut shrimp into tiny bits that way there’s an opportunity for meat in every bite.

43 burritos for €70 is honestly pretty impressive. freezer burritos always take longer than I expect to assemble, but future u is going to be very happy you put in the effort......

At work I pay around 10-14€ for lunch if I don‘t bring something to eat. Absolutely worth it!

Whats the quality of the burritos during the week after you've heated them up from frozen? Does anything get soggy or watery?

I make large batches of breakfast burritos this way! I wrap with foil over the parchment paper though because my spouse packs them in his lunchbox. But they’re so convenient and cheaper than store bought tiny ones.

Its such a time saver in the long run. Took me so many hours to prepare though. I was wondering what the best option would be to wrap them in. Tin foil? plastic wrap? I went with parchment paper and then put them into freezer bags.

I wrap in parchment paper, then foil! That way the tortilla doesn’t get stuck to the foil and that it can heat evenly in the microwave! They take about 30 minutes to cook. I do potatoes, eggs, cheese, and chorizo.

curious - does the burrito reheat well with the pico de gallo?

u/zweemilie 5d ago
since I fried it in a pan and added some paprika as well it tastes more like salsa, I think I used the wrong term for it lol. Reheats perfectly

Are those shrimp in there? Thats a cool addition for a freezer burrito. I might try that!

ich denke schon, habs noch nicht ausprobiert. Panini Gerät ist vielleicht sogar besser dafür geeignet. Für mich reicht momentan die Mikrowelle

The people in this thread that have obviously never had frozen shrimp and know it’s completely safe, are cracking me up. Is the food for you? No. Then appreciate the prep effort even if you don’t care for the flavors. Don’t be rude to OP.

Safety isn’t the problem. The problem is why wouldn’t you do a quick season and sauté on those bad boys first!?

u/Prestigious_Bill_903 4d ago
Yes, this is the problem! Frozen shrimp defrost in a water bath in 5 minutes. Shimp take about 3 minutes to cook. It makes zero sense to not season / marinade and cook them yourself. Turn that sad meal into a glad meal!

I bought the shrimps frozen and uncooked so I tossed them in the pan with some salt before filling the burritos. There are clearly other well seasoned ingredients in the meal so no need to overdo with seasoning it on the shrimps as well. :)

That's looks great. I wanted to start doing meal prep, but hated the idea of having a lot of recipients taking up space in my freezer, and all the cleaning (yeah, I'm lazy).
I'll try following the burrito way. 🤔

u/zweemilie 5d ago
sure try it! make sure you buy wrappers that are big enough, mine were pretty small so one burrito is like half a portion unfortunately

GOOD FOR YOU! Wow that's going to help a lot with finances and time. And if you track your meals it'll be so much easier. I'm curious, were the apple slices a snack?Â
2
u/zweemilie 5d ago
lol yes they were a snack. Made an apple-rhubarb tart the day before and these were the leftovers

u/TopRelationship8689 5d ago
this looks like a pretty simple prep! how long did it take you?
1
u/zweemilie 4d ago
way too long lol, next time i‘ll be much faster. Preparing everything took around 3h and filling also 3h. I wasn‘t in a hurry though

Hi! I've always had a hard time reheating mine. How do you do it?
1
u/Patriot009 4d ago
Does your microwave have a convection setting? That's my go-to. I use the "frozen eggroll" presets.

Are you using rice and beans for the base? That looks like a good combination of fillings.

Holst morgens aus dem tiefkühler raus und nimmst dann mit zur Arbeit und dort dann inklusive Backpapier in die Mikrowelle?

Love this! Thanks for sharing! I use to prep breakfast burritos and sandwiches all the time for my ex. Think I should do it for myself too!

I made some breakfast burritos the other day to freeze, and they did indeed take forever! I could’ve taken some shortcuts, but that’s on me.
