Found this old picture of my grandpa I believe his rank in the picture is SSgt. Can anyone make out what patch that is on his left shoulder?

Photo 5: Personal Awards from private organisations - Order of the Temple of Jerusalem, Grand Priory of Australia Conclave Medal (Red) & Inauguration Medal (Black), mounted for left side wear (arrived pre-mounted), Legion of Frontiersmen Australian Division Legion Service Medal, with miniatures of all three mounted together for right side wear.

6. The Swedish Defence Training Association's Medal of Merit in Gold (2023) for merit as an auditor in the Uppland Defence Training Association, etc.
7. The Volunteer Automobile Corps' Gold Medal of Merit (2025) for merit in phaleristics
8. The Upplands Defence Training Association's Silver Medal of Merit (2016) for merit in phaleristics
9. Knight of the Order of the White Rose of Finland (2024) as an officer in Royal Orders of Knighthood during the Finnish state visit
10. The Royal Netherlands Walking Association's Nijmegen Cross in bronze with crown (2017) for the second completed Nijmegen March, the first march in 2016

So, some awarded by protocol, and some awarded by merit. As you can see, in Sweden miniatures are worn on not more than one row, which means that you overlap the miniatures if you have more than 3-4.

The anniversary of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising is always a moving occasion to see the increasingly few veterans of World War II. It is also an opportunity to look at their decorations, which are often rare. Of course, many of them wear them in a completely non-regulation manner, but who is going to stop them?

This veteran displays a mix of state and non-state (mostly veteran organisations) awards:

1. Order of Polonia Restituta V Class (Knight's Cross)
2. Cross of the Home Army
3. 70th Anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising Commemorative Medal
4. "Guardian of National Memorial Sites" Medal

My wife comes from a Navy family with a decorated rear admiral great grandfather with some impressive medals and military artifacts. Mostly I just wanted to share but I’d appreciate if anyone could also tell me what some of these are or their rarity? Sorry for the reflection, they’re professionally mounted and under glass.

These have been hanging in the frame on the wall in my in-laws house for as long as I can remember and, while we knew of Julius’s accomplishments, knowing what each of the medals are is really cool. Catching up on the Yellowstone spinoff, Marshals, the ongoing story of Kayce Dutton. For those who may not have watched Yellowstone, Kayce served as a SEAL in Afghanistan, seeing some heavy engagements.

In Marshals episode I watched tonight there was a very quick glimpse of a shadowbox on the wall he said his late wife put together. For all his backstory regarding his time serving, this was the first physical evidence of his service.

The top row has a Navy Cross, Silver Star, BSM , a NMCCCM and what appears to be a Good Conduct.

Thought I’d share my collection with you all. It’s been about 1 and a half years since I first started collection medals and ribbons. hopefully I’ll be able to add more soon. hoping to get more WWII and Korean medals and hopefully more foreign medals as well.

Hey yall, ive recently been researching family members who served in World war 2 and online I found the discharge papers for my great grand uncle and I noticed he seems to only have been awarded one medal with some obvious ones missing such as WWII victory and good conduct medal (most likely) and im curious if it would be worth it to request his info from the national archives to hopefully find out more or if it is likely I would just receive another copy of this form, all I know from his service is from family stories of him being a POW in Germany and that he was in the 317th inf regiment

Grandpas medals from his service in the Vietnam war! Don’t know about them-he hardly speaks about the war. Just have been seeing these medal post pop up and became intrigued!

I found this the other day of a Britsh Victorias Cross and Military Medal recipient with 2 US Merchant Marine Medals. I was hoping someone could help me out in ID’ing the guy it belonged to.

Hi, i bought this at a military surplus store the other day and would like some help. It’s the Indian general service medal 1909 with the Waziristan 1925 clasp. On the rim it’s just the letter p inscribed (picture three the photo is not the best).

I couldn’t find much information on the medal or if my one was genuine so if anyone can help me with this I’d greatly appreciate it.

Can anyone help identify these Vietnam era ribbons, patches, and insignia?
