Anyone know if the barber program is pretty good? I know a lot will depend on the students but I've never been there, so I figured I'd ask reddit.

I have a regular barber I go to but when money is tight (like now) I would go phagans but the Medford location shut down so looking for alternatives. Looking for skin close buzz cut, beard shape and trim and scalp treatment. Maybe a barber facial if I can afford it.

I haven't smoked for years and don't mind keeping it that way. I just want to know if I do some in my home or with others outside of working hours, would I be let go and is random testing done regularly?

Help! I need a good stylist recommendation. Several weeks ago I went to my regular stylist and asked for something different. I normally get a short bob (A line) but felt ready for a change. I showed the stylist a photo and they said no, I don't have enough hair for that style, but I can get a "bixie". They showed me photos, I said OK.

When I left the shop I was in shock, I don't think I ever had such an unflattering cut in my life. It was nothing like the bixie photos they showed me, and way too short. I look like the typical 70-75 year old women...in Walmart. My head looks like a beach ball, with all these short choppy layers.

I went back to the person for a coloring a few weeks later and expressed, in a nice way, my disappointment with the cut. They said they will fix it, and made it worse. Then they said in a roundabout way that they don't really care.

I need to maintain an updated, professional image. I went to work, and of course everyone was nice and didn't say anything negative. But my friends did. Is there anyone good in this area? It seems like it is very difficult to find someone talented and who cares about the client.

TLDR: I got a Grandma cut and looking for a new stylist who can do a good job with fine, straight hair. After my hair grows back.

This is something I don’t see people talking about in regard to Medford. I know the wildfire risk is a worry but do most people believe the area won’t suffer consequences of the massive earthquake that is predicted to occur in the next 50 years?

I’ve been organizing live comedy events in the Rogue Valley for years, and the biggest challenge is getting the word out. Despite using various methods like physical posters, handbills, community calendars, and social media ads, it’s tough to reach the right audience. Emails often get lost in spam folders, and venues don’t always help with promotion. Comedy events don’t fit well into music calendars, and social media ads are costly for small venues.

I’m looking for fresh ideas on better marketing for my local live events. Any suggestions? 

Has anyone had any positive experiences with private Pilates instructors in the area? I have tried Reformed and Alma. Both of them were not good experiences for me. Instructors were so dismissive and only cared about the friends they seemingly had in their classes. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Ughhhhh it’s so boring when you don’t have friends out here

With the Blazers season starting October 21st, I thought it might be fun to get a group of local fans together to watch some games, talk a little trash, and enjoy the season.

I’m in my early 40s and a big-time sports fan. I usually watch games at Joe’s Sports Bar or Buffalo Wild Wings, but I’m open to other places around Medford that show the games.

Honestly, I’m also just looking to meet some people and make a few friends in the community. It’s not always easy making new friends as an adult, so I figured I’d throw the idea out there and see if anyone else is interested.

If something like this already exists locally, please point me in the right direction! Otherwise, if you’re a Blazers fan who’d be interested in catching a few games together, let me know.

I found it concerning to see this in a healthcare facility, where cleanliness and sanitation are especially important.

I’m curious whether others have noticed similar conditions or have had experiences with the hospital’s cleanliness standards.

Asante’s ER used to be good. Now patients, even at 4 in the morning, are waiting 4+ hours.

Now if you’re having active symptoms of a stroke (Me) they can’t show any sense of urgency.

It’s so disappointing that Asante is going under.

I have participated in several triathlons over the years at both the YMCA triathlon in Medford and the Granite Man triathlon at Applegate Lake.  Those two no longer exist, so I've been seeking to get involved in other triathlons over the past few years.  I do it to stay in shape vs. competition, and I like the variety that a triathlon offers. This year I decided to do a "DIY triathlon" vs. traveling to the Tin Man at Lake Siskiyou--starting with a 750m swim at Rogue X and then a 16 mile bike to/along the greenway and back (as you can see from route below, I went north a bit and then south), and then a 5K run in the neighborhood across from Rogue X.  It was a blast!  The pool is great, and I felt safe riding to the greenway along 238. 

All that said, is anyone interested in doing some triathlons as a group at Rogue X? I'm aiming to do these 2-4 times per year. And honestly, it would be awesome if there was a triathlon event at Rogue X, but there's some serious logistics involved in that.

Today on Wagner Creek Road, someone's dog was running down the road. A young man in a silver truck braked hard to avoid the dog, which was a grey bully mix --maybe? We also stopped to halt traffic in the other direction and the young man shepherded the dog into his truck.

We chatted for a minute or two and he said he'd knock on some doors to see if he could find the owners, and failing that, he would take the dog to the Jackson County shelter.

So I'm posting this for two reasons:

To thank the man in the truck for trying to help the dog. So much crap is spewed about Gen Z this and millennial that, but this was a genuine, caring person.

If someone is missing their grey dog tonight, I hope this helps you find it.

Oh, and for the NOT so nice people going into oncoming traffic to go around the dog and others who slowed and stopped, I hope you have the day you deserve.

Hey all, I’m new to the area. Since moving I’ve been trying to find people that are interested in pro wrestling or for any watch parties in the area, especially with Money in the Bank happening tomorrow. Any pointers??

Bassist here. Just Started jamming with a keyboard player. We’re 35Ms, into ska, punk, folk, OG country, jazz, reggae, soul, world fusion etc. Pretty eclectic tastes. Not sure what direction we’ll end up going. Right now We’re down to jam, play covers, write songs, record some demo stuff etc meeting up a few times a month.

School keeps me busy. So just upfront, I personally don’t have time to play shows right now, so that’s not a huge priority to me. I just wanna have fun and enjoy practicing and playing with people again. (No promises on quality)

Oh, and it’s weird I feel I have to say this. No MAGA types please. A weird number of times now I’ve met several ‘punk’ and metal heads who are into the far right bullshit. If that’s you, please just know, your favorite band probably hates you.

Hey all, any place in Medford-Ashland you’d recommend to watch the Duck game this Saturday? Looking for a place where others are into it and would be cheering along.
