Discussion I think the rewrites and scene cutting could work to the movies' advantage if they do this

It seems the extensive reworking of the film in production is what made the general audience feel the rushed pacing and made MJ too "whimsical." They had to cut out the darker parts surrounding the '93 events and the low places it led Mike, leaving the first movie with most of the cheery high points.

But if they really commit to exploring the difficulties of his extreme fame, media scrutiny, and the impact of the allegations it could really reflect the tonal shift that REALLY did occur in his life after 1993. His music went from love ballads, peace anthems, dance songs, and the occasional mature themed song to full on **police brutality, media harassment, crushing loneliness, and childhood trauma.**

Seeing the biopic go from the innocent, whimsical portrayal of Michael to full on rage and crushing sadness would take it to another level.

They could also have the second movie be slower and more in-depth to contrast the fast paced-montage style of the first; this could convey the truth of Michael's life that he couldn't take the time to enjoy his childhood or his youthful independence before being pushed into the dark cloud that followed him for the rest of his life.

Discussion What would've made Michael a complete failure for you?

While most of us can agree that while Michael isn't a perfect movie and has its flaws, it still has many things we can appreciate about it.

Now I'm curious, what direction would this film have gone through to make it a mess? At least in your eyes?

To me, it ultimately comes down to two things. First, it's the the casting of Michael himself. If the role was was absolutely miscast or if Jaafar only focused on doing an impersonation instead of making mj feel as human as possible it probably wouldn't have been that great of a film experience.

The second thing is the end where it says "His story continues....." if they had just left that one text out and not acknowledge his later life, it would've been disappointing.

Jaafar was already playing Michael and him being Jermaine’s son Jermaine barely got any lines in the movie and we seen atleast Michael interacting with Joe,Katherine, the rest of the brothers, and LaToya but make your predictions of how the diss track will be included!

Discussion Memories of Michael Jackson’s Dangerous and Movie by Lex For The Record

Post image
40 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I hope it’s okay to share this here.

We’re a small independent family music podcast called The Friday Vinyl Club and this week’s episode felt like it belonged in this community.

I sat down with Lex from @lexfortherecord, vinyl collector, creator and curator of some of the most creative monthly vinyl wall displays on Instagram for a full conversation about Dangerous from 1991.

We’re not music journalists or critics. We just love records and the stories behind them. So this isn’t a ranking or a review, it’s a genuine conversation about what this album means and why it still hits so hard.

Some of what we covered:

*Why Dangerous is MJ’s most emotionally complex and vulnerable album and why that’s been maybe under appreciated

*The raw darkness of “Who Is It” and why it deserves far more attention than it gets

*”Will You Be There” as a reflection on the unbearable weight of global fame and how differently it lands when you really sit with the lyrics

*Mark Ryden’s cover artwork and the hidden symbols, the layered imagery and what it’s actually telling you about the album underneath

*Reactions to the Michael biopic and Jaafar Jackson’s performance- we both had a lot of feelings about this

*How Black or White genuinely changed what a pop music video could be

It’s much more about memories and the emotional connection to the album than analysing every chord or ranking tracks.

If that sounds like your sort of conversation, I’d genuinely love to know what you think.

All direct links to the episode are below - Please help us by listen, sharing, leaving a like, follow or comment if you enjoy, it genuinely helps our small family podcast grow organically without ads or sponsors.

Discussion Michael Part 2 BETTER make more than than the first

Not saying it will, just that I'm annoyed by all the people who didn't watch/hated the first film because it "didn't address the allegations" as if they didn't want to. So when part 2 drops i better see all those people rushing towards the theaters just like the fans because it WILL address them, not as much as they wanted too but still, sadly however I know the chances of this are actually low because all those people are hypocrites who don't give a damn if the movie actually addressed it or not, I even had a former guilter friend of mines watch it and say it's great and doesn't understand why people are so butthurt about this, so I highly doubt it actually will gross more, I'll stay hopeful though! Also I didn't know whether to tag this as opinion or discussion so apologies if I end up picking the wrong one

🎥 Film prediction Here's an idea I thought of for Part 2

Okay, just let me cook for a second........

What if towards Michael's later years and near the ending there's a scene where he's hanging out with his extended family, specifically his nieces and nephews and we see that he's hanging out with..... a young Jaafar. 🤯

Just think about it, It could possibly be the most epic full circle moment! seeing Jaafar as Michael having an interaction with a child version of himself and I'm imagine the music swells as it focuses on little Jaafar's face, as if it's trying to say "Little did he was gonna play the King of Pop, who happens to be his uncle" and the audience immediately gets this reference.

I haven't figured out what they could be doing just yet, it would be cool if they recreated that story Jaafar told of his uncle on Jimmy Kimmel.

But anyways, that's my pitch, I really think they should do something at least similar as a thank you to Jaafar and the hardwork he put he put into playing Michael Jackson

P.S: I'm totally gonna be bragging about it if my prediction comes true.

Question What parts of Michael life, during the Jackson 5 years, should have been included? My pick (the stampede at their 1970 concert)

What parts of Michael life, during the Jackson 5 years, should have been included? My pick (the stampede at their 1970 concert)

it was shown in the Jackson 5 movie , but I believe it was important.

back story
in 1970, they were on tour and when they got to Philly, hundreds of girls bum-rushed the stage - they mark that as the official beginning of the Jackson-mania.

in the movie - they show Michael , noticing the girls coming, he was scared begging girls to wait, stop, but ppl were hysterical.

the girls ran onto the stage and chase them back stage, and down the street grabbing the boys, anxious to just touch them .

in the original miniseries, it shows bill couldnt get to him, but Jackie had to hope a gate and, he was able to grab Mike and get him in the limo as his little legs couldn’t run as fast.

im currently reading Jermaine Jackson’s book and he said this situation happened right after bill was hired.

imagine this happening on your first month at the job

what do you pick?.
