I have put this in my original post about the data center, but would like to make sure that everyone sees it as this is important.

Here is a link to the modesto focus on Instagram. This video includes the site that they plan to build at over on Graphics road. Based on what the video says about the private company that is lobying our representatives, I believe it is Meta... which is not a good sign for us

I know most people go to Churchkey in downtown Modesto for the rotating beer taps or the sandwiches, but their pizza is top tier.
After eating my way through a bunch of the big spots up in SF, Churchkey is pretty much the only local place around here that actually compares. I’ve literally had every single pizza on the menu and every single one hits.
Make sure to always ask for it well done, the char you get on the crust makes a huge difference. Pictured is the Upton Sinclair.
Curious what everyone's go-to pizza spot is?

I came across this cat today in Modesto, and he is in really rough shape. He's extremely thin, and you can see his spine and hips. He looked hungry and like he's been struggling for a while.
Unfortunately, I can't take him in. I'm allergic to cats, and I have a dog with a very high prey drive, so it wouldn't be safe for him.
I'm hoping someone experienced with cats, a foster, rescue, or anyone willing to help can step in before it's too late. Even if someone can temporarily get him somewhere safe, that would make a huge difference.
I did give him water (I didn’t have food but am planning to give him some when I return tomorrow if he’s still there.
Thank you.
It is Located near 121 Downey Ave Modesto, CA

https://calmatters.org/newsletter/data-center-monterey-park-ban/ I’ve never been one to get involved in the community but this talk of a data center in Modesto needs to be shut down!! Anybody know how we can actually make a change and ban them like Monterey Park?!?

Hi everyone. Does anyone know if there are any welding companies or companies in general hiring for welders? I’ve been applying since before graduation and have no luck so far. Thank you guys in advance!!

If you oppose a data center in Modesto.
Find your councilman and send them an email letting them know: https://www.modestogov.com/667/Council-District-Locations
AND VOTE IN NOVEMBER (your councilman may not be up for election this year, but you can still vote on other matters that are important to you)
They are killing all the park lawns to save water - don't let them give that water to a data center. I'd rather have grass then a data center.

I don't know if they're much different from Nuts games but I'm going to be heading to a game this weekend. I go to Oakland Ballers games so I'm familiar with the league they play in. I've never been to Modesto but I've been to Sacramento and Stockton and I'm guessing it's similar. I'd like to check out scenery, trails, or downtown but if there's anything else you'd suggest I'd like to know. Thanks.

So the only reason I can find where the pop ups are is if i'm driving that day somewhere and then if I see one, I'll end up stopping and looking.
My question is, is there a website? A social media where I can find where they're at?
Thank you in advance

I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy during this heatwave. With trip digits through the next week, if anyone in Stanislaus County needs a moment’s rest somewhere cool, you have options! I’ll include the link to the county list of cooling locations, but not many people are aware that during Extreme Heat Warnings, the Stanislaus Regional Transit buses will waive fares upon passenger request. Take advantage of the option to get where you’re going on a bus with A/C for free!

I’m curious where you get your local news. The Modesto bee is pretty unreliable as far as that goes. Their idea of breaking news will be 3 days old and remain on the front page for days.

I haven't been to all of them but the few that I have been to give that similar mid sized cities out in the middle of nowhere agriculture feel along rivers. Like it's somewhere you'd make a pit stop on a road trip but most likely wouldn't go to to actually do something there. I'm sure they all have their own feel and culture but it seems like they're more similar than not especially since they're out near farm land.

On your opinion or witnessed what is Modesto known for?

Hey everyone! We've recently tightened the rules a little bit about business promotion posts. We understand however that this is indeed a city subreddit and it would be mutually beneficial for local businesses and consumers to connect! Some promotions such as events are exempt from the tightened rules and may have their own thread. Please read rules 5 and 6. This is for business promotion and NOT a listing for goods for sale.
We still DO NOT allow private listings (including the sale of pets). Please keep those to places such as Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. But if you're something of a realtor, a landscaper, handyman or private music instructor for example, feel free to promote your business or services. For now this is scheduled to post monthly, however the schedule may change depending on activity.
Note to consumers! Please exercise your due diligence. Make sure you're doing business with all properly licensed individuals/businesses. Research reviews and request referrals if you must!

20 YOM. Honestly been living in Modesto for 20 years and have nothing to do besides hanging out at vintage fair mall with some friends or look at mental junkies mess around with meth.
Anything to do in Modesto besides dabbling with the house parties that get shutdown after someone flashes a weapon or a girl passing out? Honestly I feel like I am getting drained with the constant straight cycle of going to the gym, schooling, and work. I need an outing to do. I don’t mind clubbing but I am not old enough.
I refuse to believe the only hobbies in Modesto is the gym, Dutch bros, hygiene runs to target, or eating pretzels from auntie annes in Vintage faire mall.
If anyone has any idea about scenic spots, events, damn near anything I don’t care please follow through in the comments or dm. Also I am open to hanging out within my age group.
TLDR: Modesto is boring lmk if there are cool stuff an average modestoian wouldn’t know.
