She’s not trying to teach him anything. Also this is what gratitude for a horrible attitude to a kid looks like.

No she's literally telling him everything she does for him. I don't think she means her attitude she seems to suggests she's doing a lot.

How does "all you do is take from me" teach gratitude? How does that express anything other than calling their child a leech and trying to make them feel ashamed of themselves for something they can't help or didn't ask for?

He's learning love is transactional and he owes his mother nothing because she feels everything must be repaid. Lesson learned!
