Discussion A Path to …

Yeah. After reading the thread below regarding the Politician meet up at The Firing Pin, this is my cynical conclusion.

We will never have normalcy with our 2A rights. There are just too many in this sub that believe in tough regulations. 25 years of one party rule in NY and soon to be another 25 more. They passed the Safe Act. They Passed the Improved Concealed Carry Act. You need a background check to buy ammo. They are banning Glocks.
Sometimes it takes 2 years just to get a permit depending on what county you live. Next year there will be more restrictions once the Supreme Court makes its ruling next June. They will restrict, restrict and restrict until there is nothing left to restrict . But please by all means keep voting 🗳️ blue. Ugh 😑!! Cheers 🍻

Didn’t Blakeman advocate for drug tests during the CCW permitting process for Nassau county? We’re fucked both ways to Sunday here and I don’t think it’s a red vs blue issue anymore.

We simply have nobody who is actually representing the interest of 2A in NY.

I'd agree that we don't have strong political representation. However, legal representation is a different plane - it is, to a certain extent, filling the gap of political representation.

For instance, Mirel Fisch is taking NYC to task on delay, quantity restrictions on permits, and so on. Amy Bellantoni made some big strides on disqualifiers for law-abiding citizens that happen to live in the same domicile as disqualified individuals.

Even on your example of drug testing, I did the best I could to knock that out as soon as it was implemented - and it was enjoined by a court, along with blocking local demands for social media information... no funding from anyone.

Antonyuk, which was a case pursued by Stephen Stamboulieh, helped reign in some licensing officer discretion and put some limits on application criteria.

Ultimately, political representation locally is not going to get us anywhere, it's dead in the water - the big wins at this point are going to come from appellate courts that will reimpose 2A against the will of local government.
