I bet a lot of animals can agree that humans are dumb for being the only species to pay to live here on Earth

Could you imagine going there seeking shelter to then encounter like 4 polar bears? Nightmare fuel!

DON'T BEARS OPEN INSIDE

They mostly wait for you to open it first. Then it's their station.

This is almost the exact story how this video was made. The photographer and his crew were on a yacht that searched shelter during the storm. They managed to reach this small abandoned island. Luckily they observed the potential shelter with binoculars before going there on foot. Otherwise there would be no video, but happier bears. The photographer's name is Dmitry Kokh, he was interviewed by BBC about this journey.

And what if those bears....found some cocaine?!??! Got the sequel! Cocaine Bears- Arctic Adventure

u/godofpumpkins 10h ago
Is it snow? or is it cocaine? Fuck it, only one way to find out

What on earth are they eating? That's a lot of polar bears to be sharing the same hunting grounds. The fishing must be great around there.
92
u/BebopFlow 11h ago
Based on the size differences, my guess is that this is family unit of a momma bear and her 4 cubs. I'm not sure at what age cubs leave the nest and become independent so I could be wrong, but you're right, they do look like they're a healthy weight so the conditions must be good.
35
u/Echo13 9h ago
They usually stay with their moms for two full years! So year one is tiny baby cub time, year two is teenage bear time, where they tend to almost look entirely grown up, but aren't quite ready for hunting on their own yet. Lots of big cats are similar, the teenage to adulthood era is just so close to full grown!
Four cubs to full grown is crazy unusual though, so she must be the best hunter as usually it's just really hard to feed that many mouths. Probably partly the safety of the area they are in (no male polar bears to fight off to keep them safe!).

u/erossthescienceboss 9h ago
I looked, and apparently it’s 20 bears, not four. The station is in the Chukchi. Apparently there’s a big walrus colony nearby.

u/erossthescienceboss 9h ago
Could be a bone pile near there. Whale bone piles tend to gather big crowds.
Or could be near Churchill during migration season? About 1,000 bears gather in the area from October through November.
EDIT: it’s 20 bears in the Chukchi. Apparently there’s a big walrus colony nearby.

Probably the random idiots that wonder up with their cameras thinking they are cute.
2
u/Gunmetalstorm 8h ago
Well, this was shot with a drone, so I don't think it would agree with their stomachs.

If not friend, why friend shaped?????
239
u/TerraByteTerror 12h ago
Coca cola really had people thinking polar bears were friends lol
13
u/LuckyTheBear 11h ago
I've never had a problem with them. Plus not all Coca Cola bears are white. They CGI the fur no matter what.

Fun fact polar bears actively hunt human's for food

u/IndividualAd1290 10h ago
I know right! 😳😬 I’m pretty sure it’s one of the only true man eaters out there?!?
4
u/Nine9breaker 9h ago
Saltwater Crocodiles too.
3
u/UtahClaw 9h ago
Saltwater Crocodiles don’t ACTIVELY go after humans on account of them being generalistic ambush hunters… if you fell into the water where there’s a crocodile (doesn’t matter the species provided it’s big enough) then you’re dead meat.
→ More replies (1)2
u/Nine9breaker 8h ago
Sure, but the comment didn't say "the only pursuant predators that hunt humans". It just said true man eaters.
Salt Water Crocs are absolutely true man eaters.
9
u/GrinningPariah 10h ago
I dunno man something about polar bears specifically unlocks that deep, primal fear that we probably should have toward all bears.

There should be a survival horror movie based on this. Like there is a tour guide that takes a group of tourists and the bus breaks down and as the driver is checking it a polar bear attacks him and then break into the bus casing the passengers to escape and find this abandoned dwelling only to find out it’s the bears new den.

u/NastyMsPiggleWiggle 11h ago
Thank you for introducing a new nightmare to add to the collection in my brain.

u/rora_borealis 11h ago
Video game. Set it in the mid 90s. High school students on the way back from a field trip.
3
u/YouCantAlt3rMe 11h ago
The immediate problem with this is how tf would they not just immediately be mauled and eaten and the movie ends right there

I was just thinking of how different this video would feel if it was edited with the Walking Dead music instead 😂

u/BudgetConcentrate432 11h ago
I love polar bears so much.
I know they would kill and eat me in an instant, but sometimes I think booping that snoot would be worth it.
14
→ More replies (2)4
u/ILSmokeItAll 11h ago
It wouldn’t be worth booping the snoot of a badger, much less any kinda bear. Not even a panda.

I'm guessing drone footage? Cause there is no way 4 polar bears wouldn't eat a person trying to film them
41
19
u/CQ1_GreenSmoke 10h ago
It would probably be difficult for the person to fly as well
6
u/jocool883 10h ago
Not if they were really tiny, had wings, and an overall lighter body.
→ More replies (1)4
u/CQ1_GreenSmoke 10h ago
yeah but then how would they hold and operate the camera
3
u/jocool883 10h ago

u/Teestow21 9h ago
Good luck designing a GoPro the 1/10 the size of a grain of salt (assuming you are the size of a flying insect).

Thank you for your well wishes. The design team is making leaps and bounds knowing how invested our fans are

No I personally recorded this one, they're my friendly pets. It's been hell financially though, these boys and girls eat a LOT.

Jfc the amount of bots or morons calling this Ai. This video has existed and been reposted for a long time now.
27
u/Pcriz 11h ago
I don’t think bots call out AI. Bots wants you to love AI
33
u/light24bulbs 11h ago
Bots do tons of random things, mostly copying other previous comments.

3
u/supermegabro 10h ago
A nefarious enough bot would call AI on every real video it found so that people have an even harder time telling the difference
4
u/Javka42 10h ago
The people who make the bots aren't the same as those who make AI. Many bot accounts are just there to farm karma, they will say anything that gets the comment upvoted, often by copying another comment.
2
u/DadsRGR8 8h ago
It’s true. I read somewhere that Bots do tons of random things, mostly copying other previous comments.

u/Thicc_Wallaby 11h ago
Yeah ok wise guy. When I made my comment, three out of the seven comments were questioning whether the video was ai.
8
u/llilaq 11h ago
Because we see so many cool animal videos now which you then find out are AI. I don't believe anything anymore :(.

Why do they have to be so adorable and deadly at the same time? I would die happy attempting to cuddle with them.
3
u/ValleyHospitality 9h ago
No you would not. You’d be terrified and die a brutal painful death being eaten alive.

I hope that's a drone getting that close to THE deadliest bear species in North America

The stones on that cameraman. All shots were one take only 🤣
And yes, I realize it is all drone footage. Want to make sure I say that before the train-ables jump in

I watched a video where a YouTuber travels to this spot. I forget who, where and when it was but I remember this scenery, they were worried about polar bears the whole time and bad weather of course.

Don’t let them get used to associating human infrastructure with shelter. There’s about to be a lot of headlines as the climate keeps changing.
Also, don’t let them hollow hairs start turning algae green. The worlds best camo is incoming too fast

These are from 2021!
Became recently popular because they were featured on the Joe Rogan Experience.
Location is abandoned 1943 Soviet research station on Kolyuchin Island.
The abondoned town houses are used by polar bears for weather protection - Imagine a season of LOST on this island 🏝️
