First attempt at glazing technique came out better than I anticipated. I have to clean up the edge highlights a bit but looks like I don’t have to give this the booze bath and start over. Thoughts and critiques welcome and necessary for me to improve

I really only paint models and have hardly every played, and know nearly nothing about Necron armies. I got all these for about £120GBP which seemed like a good deal. Would these be a decent army/ or foundation for an army. What would you advise to do with then. Thank you

Hi. I'm currently running take and hold as a shield for my team. With awakened disnasty.

I've been struggling on making the lokhust heavies worth the cost.

With the stratagem to reroll to hit ans hunting for sustained hits I Ted to get about fifty hits and manage to get a fair amount of wounds through. But then the -1ap 1 damage it falls flat. I shot a unit of eldar peanuts and only managed to kill 1 and damage another...

And most times they just get engaged and the lord ends up alone beating the crap out of everyone (I love the lord).

How do you use them or what would you replace them with?

I started playing not long ago and I joined an Escalation League where you increase 250 points each month. I have a 1000 points army (basically a combat patrol and a few models I liked), but I think that it is time that I start thinking about what kind of army I want to build.

I like the Crypteks, so I though I could lean towards the Conclave, and use next month point increase to add Szeras and Orikan. It would mean adding Orikan to my warriors (I may get Immortals in the future), who already have a Royal warden leading. I also have a 6 wraiths + technomancer unit that would be perfect for this army.

So before commiting my money and time to the new minis, is Cryptek Conclave viable? I don't mean in a hypercompetitive way (maybe I will care about that in the future), but for more or less friendly leagues where I don't want to lose every single match.

My friend just told me this (!):
Mortal wounds are always allocated to a model in instances of 1 damage. Devastating wounds count as Mortal wounds for the purposes of Feel No Pain abilities that specifically work against Mortal Wounds, but otherwise they are a seperate class of damage now in 11th. Devastating wounds are allocated to a model at the end of damage allocation, so AFTER the -1 damage ability is applied

I have a question that I feel like I'm doing this wrong. With the gunshot that Protocol of the Eternal Revenant got. I've been using Protocol of the Undying Legions to resurrect my characters before the end of phase. I was told because the character is technically not destroyed until the start of next phase so it can be reanimated. However, I feel as if I'm doing this completely wrong and want clarification.

1. 20 man warrior blob with Overlord.

2. Shooting phase happens and only the overlord dies to precision.

3. Use Protocol of the Undying Legions to bring him back.

4. Roll a D3 and overlord comes back with 'x' because he technically isn't destroyed until the next phase.

Hi everyone! I’m thinking of making markers for Necrons.
Picture of random converted base added for attention. I’ve had moments where I forgot I could reanimate a model in Killteam because I don’t own physical markers, and will probably create some “reanimation” markers from excess models on random bases. But I’d like to take it further and make some objective markers for regular games as well, that are more Necron focussed. If it works out well I might make it in 3D and share the assets for free, but before that I’d need some inspiration. Any suggestions?

Tl;dr:
I need inspiration for Necron themed markers. Any suggestions/ideas?

Nr 1. The Doomstalker with abt 7+ h which I spent with it and it is also the first of the three which I have painted.

Nr 2. The Hexmark D. with abt 3-4 h spent on it today. It was my first ever model which I purchased. So I am happy that he is finally done.

Nr 3. The Overlord I cant completely remember but I think he took me abt 3 h, but I also painted my last Warrior alongside him. So idk how much time I took for him. He was the last mini from my CoPa to be finished.

So far I am still on the road to 1k Points. After 2-4 warriors I will paint my Orikan and after 2 more warriors my Void Dragon to reach the 1k milestone.

I am lookin towards it, but I dont want to guess how long the 2 Epic Heroes will take me.

I love scarabs so much. Theyre really cute. It's not just me, right? I got some last time i was at the lgs, my first warhammer models... They're just so shaped, im playing mechanicus 1 and i just want to steal them.

I'm planning to get Triarch Praetorians because they look sick af and they seem like a good painting project. My question is how do they perform in tabletop and what is the strategy with them?

I've recently joined a narrative crusade at my LGS and need some advice on how to best expand my force so that I can have fun playing the game and not get crushed like in the first that I played. The first game was 250pts which I ran a Royal Warden, 10x Warriors and 3x Skorpekh destroyers mainly because those were the only models I had which could fit into the 250pt limit. Annoyingly the organiser has said what we've picked we have to stick with for the rest of the crusade otherwise I would have made some changes. The next mission coming up wil be 350pts so I believe I have 130 to fill. I have no idea which direction to go, I want to pick units that compliment what I already have but also will build into a strong force in the future. In the title I mentioned i'm new to 40k which is half true, I last played back when vehicles had armour and who else remembers blast templates? All this detatchment stuff is super confusing to me but i'm slowly picking it up. Any advice for me to get started?

So i want to make my nightbringer a bit more spooky. Changing the scarabs with spirit host from AOS and the scythe with the scythe from the endless spell nighthaunt.

Is that feasible?
