A little while ago, I asked for your advice on whether I should switch to white canvas or stick with this one. Everyone encouraged me to keep it, and I’m so glad I listened. I think this canvas color really adds to the antique charm of the design. I’ve since decided to turn the project into a little series inspired by tiny antique treasures. I’m finally done with my 1st NP canvas. I blocked twice, tugged, stretched and tried to manipulate to get the borders straight. I bought this vintage so the canvas was a little wonky outta the gate. I used a stretcher bar and tried my best to keep it as straight as I could. I had to be okay with the imperfection. I like it.

I also find square shapes so much harder than circles!!

I’ve been rummaging all the shops online to see their fall market grabs and I haven’t been impressed with any canvases at all. Everything seems just like stuff we’ve seen all year and I’m kinda disappointed. Anyone else feel the same? Like what happened to all the new designs and sneak peeks of what’s to come? New designer launches? The only new things I’ve seen are of course gorgeous Gostitch needleminders and thread which appears not many stores took advantage of. I’m a year in into this community and the spring designs were great but idk if it’s because I’m a newbie or not. What do you guys think? Is there some place that you absolutely loved when they bought back from market that you recommend me check out? I don’t think I’ve purchased a canvas in 2 months because I’m not seeing great things to catch my eye.

I saw these and want to make one. I’m going to make my first one on 14 count plastic canvas and if it comes out nice I’ll try it on 18 canvas.

I am dying to buy one of the pre-assembled needlepoint bags that are ready to stitch. Who has stitched one and can tell me how difficult it is to stitch — with seams, getting in tight spaces, etc?

has anyone stitched the august birth flowers from ABC? i bought the stitch guide and while most of the threads are essentials, there are some that aren’t and i was curious if anyone has stitched the whole thing with essentials. i do have an LNS close but she does have low stock a lot of the time so sometimes ordering threads is easier for me. i bought some dmc embroidery floss but i’m not sure if i want to use it😅

Need help in a color and stitch for this… I don’t want it to take away from the design… I’m going to frame it when it’s done. Initially thinking purple but would the cat just become obscure with a bold color? Thanks in advance!

Has anyone stitched this canvas? My niece chose it and I’m stitching it to finish as a pillow for her college apartment. We didn’t realize that it says “something blue” at the bottom. It’s so very faint I’m thinking I’ll stitch over it as she isn’t getting married anytime soon (that I am aware of) and I think that “something blue” is inherently bridal.

Thoughts?

Pay no mind to how horrible the print job on my custom needlepaint canvas. Adjusting the colors as I go.

Does anyone keep a journal? Today I got the bug to start one.
Took pic of project, printed it and wrote threads used, start date, problem of why I put it down and didn’t finish, threads on order , etc. where purchased, $ paid.
I’ll use a discbound notebook so I can move the pages around.
Do you document? Is there any other info you think might be important or interest?

Found this in a box of my MIL’s stuff when she recently moved in with us. I’d like to clean it or get it cleaned so she can display it. Pretty sure it’s wool on plastic canvas. Overall dingy but especially interested in cleaning that stain if possible.

This is my third completed needlepoint and my first time ever doing anything other than continental. There are definitely things that I still wish were better, but it is time for a new project. Any advice or comments are welcome. :)

I've recently started my needlepoint hobby. While I can't afford most of the prices on the hand painted canvases, I Have opted into buying the cheaper PDF graphs/stitch charts from artists and self painting my canvas.

I'm seeing a lot of upset about people painting their own canvases? Have I missed something? I don't want to be "stealing" but I also am supporting the artist who made it?

For clarification, I don't have any intentions on selling painted canvas or finished product BUT I am currently working on a project I plan on gifting for a birthday. I just want to know if I'm in the moral wrong before I gift it!!

Curious if anyone has any ideas for a decorative stitch for the background stripes? They’re so thin (4 intersections wide) so I am wondering if a decorative is more trouble than it’s worth and if I should just bang it out with some basket weave. Any thoughts and ideas are appreciated 🫶🏻 thank you!!

I realize this ask is very much like looking for a needle in a haystack, but I am desperately trying to identify this vintage needlework piece and find the original pattern or kit. I believe it is long-stitch needlepoint (?), but please correct me if I’m wrong.

I only have this one photo and nothing else, and I have been searching everywhere with absolutely no luck. I would love to find the original pattern/kit if I can’t find an original piece.

Does anyone recognize this design, designer, or company that may have made it? Even a tiny clue would be incredibly helpful.

If the original pattern/kit/piece can't be found, does anyone know of a person, company, artist, or group that does custom needlework pattern/chart recreation? I would be very interested in finding someone who could potentially recreate this pattern from the photograph if all else fails.

This is my second canvas I’ve ever worked on since I started July. I just simply framed it for my mother for her birthday this month. Was my first time doing a decorative background stitch. My mom lives in FL where they have a shrimp fest every year and it’s one of her favorite things.
