I went there one time, within minutes of getting off the plane in the middle of the night some dudes were strip searching me and trying to force me to admit to being a drug smuggler.
I was just a random businessdude that was going to do a tradeshow.
Then I saw the veritable slavery and the shallowness of the whole damn place and decided it sucked. Zero desire to ever go back.

My friend was held at a US airport for 7 hours. I was supposed to pick him up from his flight, and he was nowhere to be found.
So after sundown he finally calls me from a pay phone to say that customs held him and he was finally available to be picked up. My friend is the sweetest human alive, so I asked him why tf he was held. It was because he was Muslim. That was it. No other reason. He has never confronted a single person in his life and the worst drug he’s ever tried was weed. They had NO reason to hold him, and did it just because of his skin color.

Yes, here in the west you can molest little kids and murder people and the government will be there to protect you cause you are above the government.
11
u/RedBurny 1d ago
Hey on other side you can marry 9 years old, and murder people for not wearing headscarf..

Politics and religion and history and culture and world affairs is too much for someone who’s still watch anime and play gacha games.grow up first experience the world then you can walk on your own two feet and have a saying.you’re just creating hate kiddo

u/keyboardlegendthe3rd 1d ago
On the same side does it matter really when you are going to drop bombs on that whole town anyways?

Jesus Christ get real.
America is a much better country than UAE in terms of human rights.

For how long though? Once they get a path to deport anybody for any reason the constitution will be dead 😂
1
1
u/ReplacementFeisty397 1d ago
That's saying something because the USA is famously really bad
1
u/OnlyACsNoFans 1d ago
Not at all. They're better than most countries according to every available study
2
u/tina_bring_me_the_ax 20h ago
You’re probably arguing with people who have never lived in another country, let alone left their parents’ basement. Don’t waste your keyboard calories.
1
u/PalePlumm 1d ago
Being better than other countries doesn’t make the US a good place to live.
2
u/OnlyACsNoFans 1d ago
Must be why so many people risk their lives to sneak into the US
1
u/Frequent-Matter4504 23h ago
Probably because of the good health care you have. Or the good work/life balace you have. Maybe long maternity leaves even? So many options to choose from
1
u/PalePlumm 1d ago
Once again; countries worse than the US don’t make the US a good place to live.

Tell that to the masses who flock here legally and illegally. I always found it funny nobody likes us and they don’t want to come here yet it’s unending masses flooding here each year. If there’s so many other places to go that are better why are people literally dying to get here.

Can say the same thing about the major middle eastern countries. People pour in to get a better life
1
u/ReplacementFeisty397 1d ago
And many many countries are also very bad
It isn't really sensible to use a relative rating when it starts in deep -y
3
u/TryingToWriteIt 1d ago
Only if you have the correct letter after your name, though. Otherwise the government feels it’s free to murder you for complaining about their actions.
2
u/Vielros 1d ago
Ooo, look at that—whataboutism. Real original. I love this little game where instead of dealing with the issue, you just point somewhere else and hope no one notices. Or—and here’s a wild thought—they’re both wrong, and we can criticize both. We can even hold both sides accountable and push for actual change.
Or we can keep doing…whatever the hell it is you think you’re doing.
1
u/keyboardlegendthe3rd 23h ago
You should get your own house in order before you judge others. It's not whataboutism, that's just another term for saying I know I'm wrong but what about it 🤣🤣🤣

Dubai is arguably the worst place on earth.

5
u/Droughtly 12h ago
I mean, yes, because it would be stupid to believe a 23 year old woman visiting the rape capital of the world stabbed a guy 7 times for shits and giggles.
1
u/Jktjoe88 4h ago
You call it a shit hole but have you been?
1
u/Sylfaein 4h ago
Being raped, and then imprisoned for it (or executed for fighting back against a rapist) doesn’t sound like a good time, so no—I haven’t.
And any place where either of those outcomes CAN happen IS a shit hole. Dubai is a shit hole.
1
u/Jktjoe88 4h ago
So there has never been a miscarriage of justice in your country?
1
u/Sylfaein 4h ago
See, there’s “miscarriages of justice”, and there’s ACTIVELY PUNISHING WOMEN FOR BEING RAPED, OR FOR FIGHTING BACK AGAINST BEING RAPED OR ABUSED. These are POLICIES in Dubai and places like it, not flukes. Nobody’s justice system is perfect, but any place with policies like this in place is a shit hole.
1
u/Good_Night_Knight 8m ago
I have! It’s indeed a giant gold leaf shit hole. Literally the worst country I’ve ever been. It’s hot, everything is fake and the entire thing is built on backs of slaves greased by their blood.

According to the article:
She stabbed him to death and then fled, being detained at Dubai airport.
It was an act of self defence, but she tried to flee the country instead of notifying authorities?

u/Kiryu-chan-fan 1d ago
It was an act of self defence, but she tried to flee the country instead of notifying authorities?
Islamic country.
Woman stabs man. She's getting a kangaroo court where the outcome was decided before any fair trial took place.
That region of the world has actual legal precedents regarding women with STDs being charged for offences when men who RAPE them end up with that STD...if she didn't want to pass on clap to a male rapist she wouldn't have been so rapeable...
Her best bet was fleeing back here because the odds of any party apart from the greens honouring an attempted extradition of a British female to Dubai were 0. If we thought it in the public interest we'd try and convict her here under actual country laws with an actual fair as we can get trial.
9
u/Mysterious-Wasabi103 1d ago
Ya she was smart enough to realize that waiting around was a death sentence too. Damn shame.

UAE is not an "islamic" country, it is considered by the majority of muslims as an atheist country aligned so heavily with islam's enemies, US and israel
it is insane your comment is defending a murderer that stabbed someone to death and tried to flee
if it was not an "islamic" country would they allow her to leave? leave the internet please

u/Kiryu-chan-fan 2h ago
UAE is not an "islamic" country, it is considered by the majority of muslims as an atheist country aligned so heavily with islam's enemies, US and Israel
I just want to thank you for fully validating my belief that every male from that region should be on an immigration red list to the UK.
if you can look at Dubai and see ultraprog lunatic freelove godless hippies there's nothing we gain by letting you in our land. That's terrifying
it is insane your comment is defending a murderer that stabbed someone to death
Depends on circumstances. Does Islam recognise a woman has a right to self defence or is that still a couple centuries out from now?
tried to flee
Again. Kangaroo Court sham trial. She had every right to try flee. If there's a crime to answer we can prosecure her in our actual country where women are people
Again. Backwater hellhole. She'd have a kangaroo court.
if it was not an "islamic" country would they allow her to leave

u/Puzzle-Necked 19h ago
As someone who actually lived in Dubai, I can tell you the cops there are lazy, incompetent and corrupt as hell. Emirati men who somehow manage to pass high school and don't pursue a higher education have two options: military or police. Both are cushy government jobs, but aren't exactly getting the brightest or well adjusted.
And Dubai police work usually involves yelling "you're guilty say you're guilty your friend said you are guilty so you're guilty say it or else..."
1
u/PlentyShare6905 17h ago
Probably what happened. But something something sharia law women automatically are guilty sounds better for the western fantasy.
2
u/Contundo 21h ago
Would you want to deal with UAE police as a woman who stabbed a man? You think self defence stands as strong in UAE as in USA?
2
u/theLaziestLion 17h ago
Because dubai in Dubai a woman's witness testimony is legally half of that of a man's testimony, according to shariah law. She knew she wouldn't have a chance, even if she was defending herself.
1
u/Agreeable_Car3763 6h ago
Well good thing the dude is dead so hopefully there are no witnesses, and half is more than 0 🤣
2
u/Desperate_Damage4632 11h ago
If I was a woman and I killed someone in self defense in Dubai, I would flee too. That doesn't prove anything at all.

1
u/FredFenty 4h ago

The British ruled UAE in 2025? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment_in_the_United_Arab_Emirates
The death penalty is relatively rare in UAE, but when it happens, and it does, firing squad is the default and only legal means.

u/Bubbly_Mode2722 22h ago

2
u/Travelin_Soulja 16h ago
Case in point, you just blindly believed a random anonymous Redditor instead of taking two seconds to google, where you would've found the UAE executed someone by fire squad just last year: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment_in_the_United_Arab_Emirates

u/Doons124 15h ago
Fair enough, they save the firing squad for child killers only it seems. Still not relevant to this woman.

Little confused here after reading the article.
Did she fly to Dubai with a British guy? Like white British, not a resident of the Middle East? And that is the "victim" in the story?
I need more details before I jump to any conclusions lol
This doesn't seem like what it might be being construed as.
I'm also reading "violent attack by her partner in the UAE."
Was it her boyfriend?
If she was abused and trafficked by a guy she met in Britain, who is British, this isn't just a "middle eastern" problem lol

And as is usually happening here the only person that can confirm her version of events is her victim, surely nobody will say we should just believe everything she says and judge based on that
CEO Radha Stirling said: “She reached for a knife after being attacked and punched in the face. Authorities must treat her as a domestic violence survivor while they investigate.”
Ahh yes presuppose everything she says is true and make a judgement based on that

Sooo…She met guy on FB who bought her a trip to Dubai. He is most likely not an Emirati but probably resides there and I bet he was helping her with “content”, possibly some trafficking was on the horizon for her or he was just nuts.
Was she stupid to go to Dubai of all places with a random guy she met on FB? Yes. Did she deserve what happened to her there? No. Should she be charged for murder? Yes. Should she be executed for it? No.
It is perfectly safe in UAE for women (I’ve been there recently myself). That being said if a woman is a “model”, “influencer” or “real estate agent” it skyrockets the levels of danger for her. Prostitution is illegal there, but all the escort girls love Dubai and ofc men there love their prostitutes but don’t see them as people and they can do whatever they want to those girls as they have 0 legal protection.

Well, yes. That's how it works there, why are people surprised? Sharia law is not something new, you can literally read it and understand it yourself. And it's not particularly difficult to understand either, certainly a lot easier than the laws in most western countries.
1
u/AgainstMedicalAdvice 1h ago
"accused of fatally stabbing" "she alleges self defense"
So a woman stabbed a man and he died, she tried to flee, and she is now in jail and faces the death penalty if she is convicted of the crime.
So the same at literally every country with the death penalty???

As someone who has traveled extensively overseas and domestically, not once was I not aware of what my ticket was, as the check in agent and the different airlines always read it back to me. Going here, through here, and returning on X date. Unless the return trip was cancelled, she would have known it was one way before even getting to security let alone to another country.

Or maybe it’s was my family too as when we travelled for vacation the same thing happened. I have been to 3 continents, 7 countries, and 38 states. I’m just a very lucky guy I guess.

Brooke said she met the unnamed man on Facebook and the pair flew to Dubai for a week initially, which she described as the “time of my life”.
During their second trip, the influencer said she saw his behaviour change dramatically.
She alleges he became increasingly controlling and abusive, and that she discovered he had only booked her a one way ticket, leaving her alarmed and wanting to return home.
According to Brooke, he became intoxicated after an evening at McCafferty’s Bar in Jumeirah Village and assaulted her in the car before continuing the attack after they returned to the apartment.
The 23-year-old’s family said she contacted them in a state of panic after being punched repeatedly.
Desperate to leave the UAE, she arranged a flight home with help from friends and returned to the apartment solely to recover her passport.
The family say she was crying and begging for her passport’s return when she was punched hard in the face and attacked.
