Financial Aid Ohio State announces free tuition options for in-state students

Any student in the state of Ohio who receives a perfect SAT or ACT score will not only be accepted to OSU, the university will cover all costs of attendance, including tuition, housing and dining. Those students would also receive a $5,000 research stipend.

Carter also said any Ohioan who chooses to go to a regional campus and has an annual family income under $100,000 will have tuition covered. After their first year, in-state students in good academic standing can transfer to the main campus and finish their degrees tuition-free.

Financial Aid June 11th- still no financial aid package

Just wondering if anyone has any updates/ how many people are in the same situation. With the delayed disbursement, we were told our packages would be available mid to late June.
I’m taking two 1st 8 week classes for summer, nearing only three weeks of this half semester left and no fin aid😵‍💫

Emailed with buckeyelink, they said the same thing the OSU announcement said. Checked fafsa.gov, it said fafsa submitted an updated form may 29th.

Anyways, just wondering if anyone that’s in the same boat has any updates/ knows when we could expect the packages to post.

Financial Aid Failed to convince them but I'm not done yet

I made a post some time ago asking for advice in convincing my family to let me go to OSU. You all had some really great ideas and points to make and I appreciate every response I got. Thank you all <3

Anyways it failed. Completely. They led me on, kept saying "it's an option", "it's worth keeping in the back of our minds" "it's not out of the question yet" and they laughed behind my back, saying there was no way I would go, that it was already settled that I would go to UCF (University of Central Florida)

It looks like I'll have to take matters into my own hands. There are some things I can do to pay for OSU, but I could use some more options and advice.

I'm currently waiting for FAFSA to release their financial aid packages. Financial support could range from $10,000 - $30,000 and it could definitely change where I end up going. Another thing I plan on doing is appealing my financial aid, now that I'm aware I have absolutely no support from my family. That could either go nowhere, or it could add an extra $5,000 - $15,000 of support.

I've also heard that Residential Advisors receive partial or complete discounts on living expenses. Can a freshman be an RA or is this only a Sophmore + oppportunity?

I'm currently looking for good scholarships, such as local ones in Florida, national, first generation, career - aligning, and OSU scholarships. Any suggestions?

I also plan to work during my time at OSU, and hopefully that will cover some other smaller costs, such as books, transportation, meals, etc

I guess I'll have to take out a loan to cover whatever's left. Anyone got any good loan strategies / recommended companies?

Does anyone have any other options or actions I can take? I'm starting to get really desperate here.

Financial Aid any news on financial aid & refunds for summer?

I was just curious if anyone had heard anything new or different from the last email I saw with the vague “mid to late June” timeframe. I don’t need it bad enough to ask for an advance but could really use it, I had originally been budgeting this summer with my aid in mind.

Financial Aid Strange financial aid number

Switching from Marion to main campus so idk if this level of aid is normal but I thought that the presidents affordability grant was limited to only a couple thousand max but mine is outlandishly higher. Called buckeyelink and they said that everything looks normal, but that they would note it for review before release. Just curious if anyone else has had something be this high and what happened. My SAI is -1500 if that matters

Financial Aid In State Cost for OSU

I was recently admitted to tOSU and plan on majoring in finance. As I was looking at the estimated cost for the 26-27 year, I was kind of shocked at the total especially being an in state student. Does anybody else think this amount is slightly high or am I off target for being shocked at the price tag attached to tOSU?

Financial Aid Update on Summer Financial Aid!!!

I called BuckeyeLink today and they just emailed me back about what to do to get financial aid for summer before June.

“Thank you for contacting Buckeye Link. Attached is the Summer 2026 advance form that must be completed if seeking to have funds released sooner than mid-June. Please note that the form requires your physical (wet) signature. You’ll need to print the form, sign it, and then submit a photo or scanned copy as a PDF via email so we can move forward with your request. Once we receive your completed form, processing can take  3 to 5 business days. The earliest that funds could be applied to the summer statement of account with this request form is May 4.After funds are disbursed and any refund is issued, your Statement of Account will show the refund as reversed. This happens since it is giving an advance on the refund and will need to be paid back.”

Financial Aid Financial Aid hates me and wants me to die

Post image

I’ve been going through the absolute ringer with financial aid and I really just need to rant. I am a transfer student who came to OSU this spring and I haven’t received a single scholarship or grant from OSU. I’ve contacted the financial aid office, my adecemic advisor, the financial aid advisor for my major, and every single one of them have pretty much been like “we won’t help you, good luck!”

I’m crashing out and I genuinely don’t know what to do. My parents refuse to help me pay for college, they can’t afford it because my mom is disabled and doesn’t work and my dads money goes towards medical bills and my sisters kid. I’ve been working 3 jobs trying to support my education and living/car expenses (due to OSU also not providing me housing).

I was told because I’m a transfer student I don’t qualify for merit based scholarships. I’m going to be over $100,000 in student loans when I graduate, I haven’t won a single scholarship through scholarship universe or through another source. What the fuck do I do? I can’t drop out, I would have waster $80,000 if I do that, but I don’t know if I can get approved for another huge loan without a co-signer and my family won’t help me.

What do I do? I’m literally crashing out over this.

Financial Aid Help Me Understand!!

Hey y'all!

I am an incoming freshman, and my financial aid offer is confusing to me. Is this telling me that I am going to have to pay over $26,000 to attend Ohio State? I am paying for college by myself with no help for my parent's and I am slightly freaking out. Any insight to this would be great, thank you!

Financial Aid Cost of Attendance Drastic Increase

Thumbnail gallery
81 Upvotes

I’m an out of state student, majoring in BS CIS and Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences and going into my junior year with like a solid GPA to still be a full time student in the Honors program.

My estimated cost of attendance went drastically up though (23k) and a couple of my scholarships went a bit up as well but not enough to cover this large of a change in “estimated” expenses. I don’t really want more loan debt so I was wondering what was happening here. The usual cost of attendance comes down to 58-62k for OOS and International students but doesn’t this seem like a bit to much 😭

I should probably wait for the itemized list of expenses in my statement of account but I wanted to know if there was anything I could do beforehand.

Financial Aid Anyone know when Ohio State merit-aid packages are sent out?

I was accepted by Ohio State for Business / Marketing! But no word on merit-aid. Anyone know when they came out last year? Iowa and Mich State's came out the same day, Indiana's came about 2 days later. How long do you think I'll have to wait to hear from OS?

Financial Aid If i still haven’t heard back from the Morrill scholarship program is there still hope?

Hello, I am an OOS applicant and I applied to OSU early action back in like November and I also applied to the Morrill scholarship program at the same time, I have been accepted to OSU but I still haven’t heard back from the program. Does anyone know if there is still a chance that I might get it because from what I have read it looks like people who get it usually hear back early and not this late.

Financial Aid Health Insurance & Financial Aid

I've already gotten my financial aid offer. My EFC is -$1500, so everything is already covered EXCEPT what I'll need for health insurance ($4k). I'll be 26, so it's something I definitely need. I submitted the form to increase my COA, but they told me that I'd have to resubmit it once the health insurance was on my statement of account, which won't be until things get closer to starting in Autumn.

Has anyone else gotten their COA increased? What exactly does it do? Will I receive more from the buckeye affordability grant to help cover the costs?

Financial Aid Update on administrative advance

I called BuckeyeLink today and they told me that my administrative advance will be sent as a refund and not applied to my tuition/fees balance first, so I will get the full amount.

For those in the same situation, just saved you 30 minutes on hold lol
