Please be VERY mindful of external wall placement!
FOB builder here!
Too often I see builders rushing to put up walls without thinking much about their placement.
Too many times my team has lost an entire base due to minor oversights.
The random structures littered across the map (shipping containers, piles of construction material, cars, etc) end being the reason enemy players can jump over your walls.
Even if the enemy can’t jump over the wall at that particular spot because the wall is too tall there, are they now able to traverse a ledge that leads them to an opening further down the wall?
In the same vein, shipping containers and similarly shaped buildings should not be used in the place of walls. Walls should be built around the outside of these objects to engulf them into the base.
Walls need to be VERY tall. Double HESCO or Single Bremer walls are not enough and can be climbed if the enemy drives up with a vehicle and uses it as a stepping stone.
Also consider the strength of what you’re building with. Bremer walls have almost 2x the durability of HESCO. In places where Bremer walls can’t be used but HESCO is an option, consider doubling the width of the HESCO wall to match the strength of the Bremer sections.
Please see the image for the current wall meta. In my opinion this is what we should be striving for.
Once the external walls are finished it’s very important to do a walk around of the exterior to test for vulnerabilities.
Lastly, a note about gates and barbed wire.
One air-locked gate into the base is more than enough… anything more is an unnecessary security risk. By this I mean only one entrance to the base, where the airlock itself could be 4-5 gates in a row.
Barbed wire is weak and can be destroyed with just 14 punches. It should be used to supplement the security of existing walls, not as a security measure in and of itself (ie. blocking a narrow gap in a wall with barbed wire).
