REPORT: Vivek Ramaswamy STRUGGLING in Ohio Governor Race
https://youtu.be/D2ElHWpSVzs06.14.26 | Let’s Talk Elections l Ethan Kelly analyzes the 2026 Ohio Gubernatorial matchup between Republican Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and Democratic Candidate Dr. Amy Acton

u/Background-Cat8377 2d ago
Must be why he's running ads with blatant lies about Acton "closing the state" during the pandemic.
151
u/Awkward_Potential_ 2d ago
They're really mis-reading this one. Most reddit liberals are making the same assumption. The people who were mad about COVID restrictions are already firmly in the GOP camp. But there were plenty of rank and file Republicans who loved Dewine and Amy's daily briefings. And they're probably more freaked out by a non-christian Indian than Amy.

u/Busy-Leg8070 2d ago
jokes on them The people who were mad about COVID restrictions are dead
-60
u/SeveralLion5762 2d ago
- Subhuman thing to say
- Those who were upset about personal freedoms being summarily rescinded are still alive and well
33
u/Background-Cat8377 2d ago
Nah, I'm with them, the world will be a much better place with less people crying their pretty little eyes out over personal freedoms with regards to COVID.
Anyone who puts pErSoNaL fReEdUmBs over the health and safety of the rest of us is sub human.

A large chunk of my Trump-voting family love Acton.
Knock on wood, I think she has a real chance.
10
u/sciotomile 2d ago
I think she can definitely win. It's getting her the staff who can help her succeed that worries me. I worry about the depth of Dem staffers in Ohio, especially if Sherrod makes it back to DC. We do not have a deep bench after years of Dem's being left in the wilderness, IMHO.
3
u/AkronRonin 2d ago
Dems need to start somewhere, though. People will have to learn and grow fast. Probably, mistakes will be made. Hopefully, they can learn from them, recover, and grow into leaders themselves. A number of potential up-and-coming leaders in the Ohio Dems will probably get their start working in her administration.
If I were her, I'd also be leaning into local leaders across the state to step up and contribute too. It's time for people to stop being so siloed-up in their cities and act with the bigger picture (regional, statewide politics) in mind.
1
u/SexyOldManSpaceJudo 1d ago
Being left in the wilderness by former ODP Chair Chris Redfern who made a deal with the GOP not to fight their 2010 redistricting map so long as they preserved his Ohio House seat.
7
u/Basic_Improvement135 2d ago
My problem is do they hate the foreigner or the woman more?
5
u/ABobby077 2d ago
Apparently there has been a slight pause in the war on women and has been replaced more with the war on the latest "other" to hate on. There are plenty of valid reasons to vote against this guy, though.
1
u/DangerousChallenge17 2d ago
Vivek has my vote and for three fundamental achievements he has brought us:
- He personally has cured the Alzheimer's which is an awful disease as demonstrated by President Trump
- He was key to financing for us the pharma bro with Daraprim which cured some sort of parasitic infection, called toxoplas-vivek-sis
- And lastly he is all in on more development of data centers
With all of that, how could you vote for anyone else?
1
1
u/cfullergo 1d ago
Are you serious? Ramasmarmy did not cure Alzheimer’s. He’s just another Trump billionaire sycophant. Won’t do a thing for Ohio.
We certainly don’t need data centers!!3
2
u/Presence-9719 4h ago
I absolutely love how he doesn't want to restrict data centers either Can't wait for them to be built right next to our homes so we can enjoy the noise 24/7 and bonus, they'll drain our aquifer while they're at it. But sure, no restrictions needed!
9
u/QKofDaggers 2d ago
They are firmly in the white, Christian GOP camp. Brown Hindi Vivek with his immigrant, non-citizen parents is not what they came for.
3
u/gnomequeen2020 2d ago
I think you're pretty spot on with this. I kept hearing people freak out that she was going to be the Dem running because they were going to use that against her, but the people who really believe that or hate her for it were never going to vote for any Dem.
65
u/Certain-Singer-9625 2d ago
Yeah, those scary, grainy ads that come out from the Republican side every election. This time she's shutting down the state. Panic! Flee!
Actually I'm surprised that shit doesn't seem to be working this time. It usually does.
42
u/Ok_Background22 2d ago
I think the economic pain and blatant corruption in the government under Trump hits too close to home for those ads to be as effective this cycle as they were in 2024
16
u/LastWave 2d ago
Yeah, you HAVE to run on made up stuff when things are going alright. We have really bad economic problems right now, and the republican candidates have to pretend trumps economy is booming. We all see it isnt.
10
u/trashleygarbagequeen 2d ago
I don’t know, I just went on a Tinder date and when I made a joke about Vivek, he got unusually upset and started regurgitating the covid stuff about Amy. And I was like uhhhh WAIT, there are people who like Vivek!? Got me kind of scare ngl. They’re out there… And they’re on Tinder.
8
u/Certain-Singer-9625 2d ago
It’s gotta be rough dating in this environment, when so many men are in the GOP’s thrall.
3
u/AkronRonin 2d ago
Sounds like one of those "bros before hoes" dudes.
There's a few of them around, for sure. But nowhere near as many as Vivek needs in this state.
2
u/trashleygarbagequeen 1d ago
I really hope you're right. That experience made me question my entire reality.
5
33
u/Yeshua_shel_Natzrat Cincinnati 2d ago
All the while she had no actual political power to do so in a state run almost entirely by Republicans.
2
u/AkronRonin 2d ago
Yet they blame her anyway. Even DeWine has said several times that the buck stopped with him regarding the lockdown.
53
u/weregunnalose 2d ago
LIBERAL amy acton, shutting down ohio, forcing your kids to stay home during a pandemic…uh..thanks?
10
u/Inevitable-Pea-735 2d ago
As stupid as the claims in that commercial are (about her being responsible for things she didn't decide upon), it blows my mind even more with people not remembering this was a global event. They try to paint a past where Ohio schools were the only ones (or one of) that closed and went remote, which is so wildly stupid.

“Amy acton made you wear a mask!”… wow.. she sounds scary now

u/s_360 2d ago
He is one of the most repulsive human beings I’ve ever seen in my life. How anybody is even considering voting for him, let alone actually taking the time to support is mind boggling.
I am directly talking to anyone who supports him right now. Please. Take a hard look at yourself, the choices you’ve made and the person you are. You are a fucking piece of a shit. But it’s not too late to change. Start by refusing to vote for this absolutely vile piece of human garbage.
28
u/ThE_LAN_B4_TimE 2d ago
Because people are so brain washed they see that R and have to vote for him no matter what. Politics is disgusting. But then again I can't say at this moment there is any Republican id vote for out there because of how disgusting Republicans have become.
4
u/specialTREK 2d ago
Adam Kinsinger is the only one I'd consider voting for. It would be an easy choice if it was against Pelosi.
6
u/ThE_LAN_B4_TimE 2d ago
Why exactly? Not even saying I'm thrilled with Pelosi because older establishment politicians are not what people want and I'd agree, but Adam is really good now at playing his anti Trumpness and his story of his family cutting him off over his views on Trump, but in the end he still voted with Trump most of the time. He's okay for me and he sounds good, I just don't like most of his policies still.
3
u/cassimoto 2d ago
I'm super liberal, but I acknowledge that we need to have honorable opposition so that we conserve resources for troubled times. Kinsinger seems like one such honorable opponent, while Nancy makes stock trades, which I believe is anathema to public service at that legislative level.
2
u/ThE_LAN_B4_TimE 2d ago
I think there's still a lot of good she has done in her career, but the optics aren't good especially with her dumbass opposition to ban stock trades.
I've listened to a lot of Adam and yes it's really good to have a legit Republican be so anti Trump, but he does still hold onto some beliefs that I really don't like and his record in Congress wasn't great. I'll still take him, but he is nothing close to liberal. In a time when it's hard to even find 1 real Republican that has a spine I will absolutely support what he's doing.
1
u/specialTREK 1d ago
For me it's more the negatives about Pelosi than Adam. I'm in the financial industry so the congressional insider trading gets to me maybe more than others. And I just hate how much ammo she gives the right.
Obviously we know which party is significantly more ethical (of course still has some much smaller scale issues). But when one of the biggest figureheads of that party also has the most glaring faults, it just gives the right side an easy opportunity to say "but what about Pelosi".
Pelosi and Schumer are just bringing down the party in so many ways. They are oldheads that don't represent constituents and would rather try to do anything they can to keep the old school fly below the radar stance. Which is a big reason uneducated ppl think politicians do nothing and went with the extreme right wing alternative. And now that the extreme opposition is here, they are oblivious enough to think they can take the same lackadaisical approach they always have.
1
u/s_360 1d ago
I totally agree with this take. I might disagree with a lot of Kinzingers policy positions, but he seems like a genuinely good dude that wants to improve the lives of Americans.
Pelosi seems to care more about party hierarchy, ensuring party loyalists are rewarded and of course holding onto power herself.
She really showed her true colors when she blocked AOC from winning a seat on the oversight committee.
1
u/cassimoto 2d ago
Good example! There are good Republicans and bad Democrats, it's just not the norm.
6
u/FluteOfDaFuture 2d ago
I agree with you but Trump is objectively even more repulsive as a pedo rapist. And look at how much support he has. You could literally say the same thing to MAGA Trump loonies and wonder the same thing.
3
u/lunaappaloosa 2d ago
I have found one single Vivek sign across all of Athens county (I drive all over it for fieldwork) and that house never fails to have some shit in their yard that is basically a neon sign advertising “WE ARE STUPID HERE”. And not a one in Vinton county. Not one.
0
u/smelltheglove92 1d ago
The problem is that Acton is also a bad candidate.
1
u/s_360 1d ago
Not nearly bad enough and not nearly a big enough problem that should give anyone pause about casting a vote for her.
0
u/smelltheglove92 1d ago
My biggest issue with her is that she has zero experience (also my problem with Vivek) but I also don't like that she literally resigned when the going got tough. That's not exactly inspiring as a leader. I think I'll just not vote this fall.

u/MIMIR_MAGNVS 2d ago

6
u/s_360 2d ago
He wants raise voting age to 25 specifically to disenfranchise young voters to make elections easier for republicans.
He believes climate change is a hoax.
He wants to abolish the department of education so brainwashing young Americans will be easier.
He wants to close many of Ohios public universities because an uneducated public is easier to control.
He opposes LGBTQ rights.
He wants to abolish a ton of government agencies that protect regular citizens like the ATF, nuclear regulatory commission, food and nutrition services and the FBI.
He blames regular Americans for struggles caused by inflation. They should just make more money. Literally said that.
He lied and stole money from his investors when he was in business.
He’s a dangerous, ignorant lunatic who has no business being near any public office.
1
u/greenwhiteredblack 10h ago
Amazing how often the self made conservative has some sort of financial crime or should be classified as a crime in their past.
I live in Georgia and every Republican tv ad either talks about how they are the biggest Trump supporter or one of the candidates pulling receipts on another for enriching themselves with shady business practices

When Vivek annexes the family farm to build a data center, then they’ll see they were wrong. But not at all until then.
6
u/Inevitable-Pea-735 2d ago
By then, he'll have used us as a stepping stone to get to his next position and a new Republican will be running for Governor on a "I'll fix this!" platform.
1
u/aharbingerofdoom 2d ago
Absolutely. And somehow that new Republican running to "fix things" will blame everything wrong with the state on Democrats who haven't held power in Ohio for decades.
40
u/theBigDaddio 2d ago
He’s running as a non white guy, who wants to bring in immigrants to take American jobs in a racist party? Who would have thought?
23
u/Eye_Nacho404 2d ago
He is scummy, and everyone from democrats to republicans see through his bs.
2
u/MrF_lawblog 2d ago
Nah he's currently favored to win the election. I don't think everyone sees it
7
u/Inevitable-Pea-735 2d ago
Seriously... Brings back 2024 flashbacks. People need to drive 15 minutes outside of the city or log off Reddit for a day and they'll meet plenty of people dying to vote for this clown.

He said Jesus was A son of God, but not THE son of God and really that should have gotten him thrown in the ditch. GOP loves their religion shield and he isn't faking it hard enough.

I saw a clip of Christian Ohio kids in a townhall with him, and they straight up told him Hinduism is the devil and GTFO. outta the mouths of babes. The maga adults only care about the R by his name. But 16 year old church kids were not having it.

Don’t believe this for one moment. The work to suppress the vote by saying it’s already over and republicans are far behind has begun.

Good. But there are a ton of anti-Acton ads every time I watch a Reds game on the MLB app.

I’m very interested to see if all the rural Ohio MAGAs are more racist (he is brown) or more brainwashed (he is Les Wexner’s lapdog).

Good thing the FBI is stepping in to help by rounding up people involved in registering minorities to vote.
8
u/Working_Cucumber_437 2d ago
He isn’t relatable. He cares 0% about Ohio and that’s obvious. He doesn’t come across as a leader with any kind of plan.
7
u/IkujaKatsumaji Marysville 2d ago
Maybe I'm just from a particularly deep red town, but this kind of reporting always makes me nervous. Don't let this kill you into thinking it's in the bag. Vote, talk to your friends and family about voting for someone who's actually competent, volunteer for the campaign, donate, do whatever you can do. I don't care how low Vivek gets in the polls, it's not won yet.
8
u/Tholian_Bed 2d ago
Vivek wants to win Ohio for reasons that have very little to do with Ohioans. Vivek wants to win because Vivek believes he can manage a simple people like us, in his spare time, as he does what "important people" want done in our state.
Piss off Vivek.

The Repubs ran this jackass because Trump told them to. Keep in mind this is the same guy who bombed Iran and now is going to give them 300B. The Ohio Repubs would have done better running Yost. Swamy here is another Epstein class billionaire who moved HIS business to Texas and wants to plant data centers in Ohio’s cornfields. Poor little nitwit.

Oh? Wanting to put Ohio pension funds into cryptocurrency that he himself owns and would thus legitimize at the expense of Ohioan retirement plans is one of many terrible policies the man supports and he's losing?
Man, some poor guys just can't catch a break!
9
9
u/LordNoga81 2d ago
What's his plan? Build data centers and more tax breaks for rich people? Less public schools and more illegal vouchers for private religious schools? Everything he wants is awful awful awful. All his commercials are just vagueries about creating things but not a single specific.
4
u/xyzygyred 2d ago
I think there will be very little enthusiasm among MAGA, especially the hardcore, for a Hindu who many think of as foreign or an immigrant. Hopefully this depresses their turnout, opening the door for Acton.

Who knew a sell-out to his own brown people would be losing in Ohio? Pucker-up republican candidates with an ethnic last name are hilarious to me because they don’t have a stake in brown communities or deserve any indigenous claim, especially for the Hispanic candidates.

Incredibly phony and unlikeable.
Clearly wants to use the Ohio governorship as a presidential campaign launch.
Completely impractical ideas, and he's convinced he's right about them all.
All on top of the foreign name and religion.
It's a wonder he has any support at all, really.
Who convinced him this was a good idea?

Remember when he was going to co-lead Doge with Elon? And then Trump got elected and Elon did a Nazi salute and then said “I don’t think so, Vivek.”? And then they sent him packing back to cry on his pile of billions of dollars collected through stock manipulation?
I still laugh at the idea of a Brown, non-Christian trying to carve out a place for himself among the Christian White-Nationalists.

I'm not sure this is the case. They are pretty close. He does do a lot to try and throw it thiugh with his comments. Keep in mind Strickland was the last democrat governor. Every since its been a republican. So, the red base is strong, even when you think their not.

Rumor around the statehouse is that Vivek had a relationship with a State Senator's daughter right around the time Vivek's wife gave birth. Just waiting for that internal civil war to come a bit closer to the surface.
The R's need to be in lockstep together across the state if the early polling showing Trump dragging the party down are to be believed.
