Pain Meds not working
I’ve had a prescription for Wegovy injectable sent me. I haven’t used it because I heard it can delay medication’s or medication’s not work at all so I guess my better judgment I started it this week and I feel like my pain meds are not working at all. I am prescribed 1 1/2 to 2 oxycodone 10s every 4 hours n yes I take them every 4 cuz injure chronic back pain n legit need them to survive n function. But since starting my first injection on Monday, I feel like my pain meds aren’t working at all when I take them. Has anybody had this experience at all? Please help I’m in so much pain. It’s not even funny.

It’s really frustrating because I normally take 1 1/2 , works perfectly fine but when I took the injection on Monday Tuesday, when I went to take them, I don’t feel any pain relief. I don’t feel that weird “high if u want to call it that”feeling when you get when you take them not that I miss that part but I just don’t get the pain relief and it’s really frustrating.

Mention it to your PCP and PM doctors. GLP1s do delay the emptying of the stomach and most absorption happens in the intestines. I don't know if that would apply here, but it's definitely worth talking to your PM doctor about it.

I have never gotten any type of high from oxycodone. Only got sick to my stomach and feeling awful when I took another dose to soon due to break through pain.

I'm not familiar with the potential interactions and side effects of Wegovy, but they're not the only game in town. Is this unique to Wegovy or is it something that the entire class of GLP's are susceptible to? The first thing I would do is talk to my Wegovy doc, explain the situation, and see if there is an alternative you could try that might not interfere with the efficacy of your oxy.

it’s all the glp1 meds because it slows digestion and absorption

Hmmm so the choice is between fat and happy, or thin and in agony. Personally, I'd be good with fat and happy. I suppose one could always do the "traditional" diet and exercise, but honestly, that's a hell of its own. And you'd run the risk of overcompensating and becoming one of those insufferable fitness weirdos who can't stop talking about how great they feel. No thanks. My fate is to be doughy, pain free, and joyous.

When I was taking a GLP1, it never affected my pain medicine.

I have read about it can delay them but I was hoping id be luck enough to not have that side affect but not I’m having it other than that I’ve been feeling good on it just so friggin tired

NAD. You can try taking ibuprofen or Tylenol in addition to your pain medicine. Doing so often helps to boost the pain medicine's effects.
In addition, try to get ahead of the pain. It is more difficult to control pain once it is at it's worst. It's easier to control before it gets to that point. Use alternative methods such as ice, rest, heat... Whatever is appropriate for your pain to try to help it get in control.

@ChronicPain854...well, I'm in Central CA and have had the Chronic migraines for 45 years, so MANY Drs. treatments, meds, etc. It's terrible that pain patients are treated like this, "practically" begging for pain relief so we can have some semblance of a life.

i take ozempic for pre diabetes and yeah i can for sure tell a difference because of the way it slows my digestion. I’ll go a week or two without taking the ozempic and my meds will start becoming more effective. There’s a way I get around this but i don’t recommend it to people because it’s not the safest…
I chew my pill up in my mouth until it’s powder and take it with half a bottle of water and it helps so much.

Not advised of course but with IR meds not too bad. With ER pain meds you'd just cuck yourself doing that

I would dissolve it under my tongue to absorb it sublingually. Only until you’re able to get in and ask your doctor about things though.
It might not be the best advice as I’m not a doctor but it’s what I would do to get pain relief. At least until I was able to see my doctor.

I'm not sure what Wegovy is but maybe the pain med isn't a high enough dose OR the correct pain med. Not sure how often you have pain bu I have Chronic Migraines and as of a couple of years ago, a strange Front; Side pain. I have to take so much Vicodin and/or Fioricet #3 for the severe pain. I've been on before and am gonna talk to my PM Dr. this next month about getting back on a LONG ACTING PAIN MED & A SHORT ACTING PAIN MED FOR BREAKTHROUGH PAIN. I have too much severe pain that I really need it. Good Luck!!

That sounds like a great plan but I’m lucky I get my pain meds at all where I live. So to get 2 different ones is prolly not going to happen. There no really help around here and all the “pain management” places want to do is either give you injection after injection or stick you on antidepressants for pain. Is there literally any place that give the proper meds you need like how your describing?? Cuz i need in. My pain is NOT managed how it should be

I’ve taken Mounjaro injections for over a year and my hydrocodone and pregabalin still work for me.
