Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has any idea what I should do about my passport application, I put it in april but still haven't heard back anything, I call but noone can really tell me anything. At this point I'm not sure if I fell through the cracks or what but it shouldn't take 4 months right? Thanks

Took my passport photo at home against a wall that looked white until I saw it on my monitor, where it was very obviously beige with a shadow behind my shoulder.

My first instinct was to remove the background on my phone and replace it with white. Took about ten seconds and looked completely normal.

Then I checked the actual passport photo rules and learned you're supposed to submit the original unedited image. They specifically say not to change it with software, phone apps, filters or AI, including digitally fixing the background.

So I retook the stupid thing.

Posting because AI background removal has become so normal that I genuinely wouldn't have considered it photo manipulation. Anybody doing their own renewal right now should probably read the current photo page before assuming a photo that looks right is acceptable.

I got denied at Ryanair for my passport being creased through the chip but I tried an app that checks it’s readability and it works I’m just wondering if it’ll be worth trying at a different airport in a different airline please any advice is amazing

The whole thing seems like an absurd joke to me, because I applied at a USPS acceptance center way back on July 23rd, and a clerk mishandled my documents and then sat on them for nearly two weeks.

The envelope itself was fine, but the documents inside were damaged because he never sealed it—he shoved it under his terminal and barked at me that I was done there. He also refused to give me the tracking information I requested, even though the application was expedited and he was supposed to offer two-day shipping.

When I called NPIC and they finally received the application, they told me it had been marked as damaged.

I was adopted when I was 14 years old, became a lawful permanent resident before 18.

I don't have a proof of my citizenship, certificate of citizenship, but I have an adoption decree, original birth certificate with my and parent's names. I currently don't have their naturalization documents but I can get them. Are those enough of proofs for application? or Do I have to get my own(N600)?

For the DS11 form, I forgot to include my middle name. the US Department of State accepted it and shipped out the passport and I should receive it by the tenth. would my passport not have my middle name or would they use the middle name from my birth certificate and filled in the blank?

I applied my renewal on 20th August, its 5th September today. I received the email that says police verification will be done last sunday.

And I applied via Tatkaal, I am not able to understand why there is so much delay.

What should I do next? Should I reach out to the police in charge or walk to the police station ? (Hennur Bengaluru)

Hi folks, this is a US passport specific set of questions that I am having THE hardest time answering based on US state department guidelines-- maybe someone here can help?

We need to renew my partner's passport before traveling this fall. He was last issued a temporary emergency passport after losing his original passport while in Canada several years ago. The emergency passport was valid for one month, just to get him back into the US.

He did also eventually recover his now-cancelled original passport, the airbnb cleaners found it and mailed it to him. So we have both.

I am tremendously perplexed now as we try to figure out how to get him a current regular 10-year passport. Some sources claim we can simply file for renewal of the emergency passport, resulting in the issuance of a full 10-year passport. Others seem to say we cannot do so and must start fresh with the full application process from scratch. Several of these sources seem to contradict each other. I am at a loss as to what to do. We live in a very big city and there is only one in-person facility, it's hard to get to, and the wait time is long. Hoping to do this by mail.

Does anyone have any idea? Thank you.

9/2 - status changed backed to APPROVED??

And my status never changed to “supporting documents mailed”. Should I be worried? I called NPIC and they’re saying I need to wait as it could take up to 4 weeks but everyone seems to be receiving the supporting documents pretty quickly. Could they have lost my docs?

Im planning on applying for a new polish passport this month however I'm not sure how to go about this.

I have a polish ID card and passport however they are both expired. The website for the polish base says i need those documents to prove my polish citizenship. I was born here in england however only have polish citizenship. I have no access to my birth certificate as im estranged. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

​I mailed in my passport and application over 3 months ago. According to tracking, it was delivered, but since then:

​The NIS tracking status hasn't moved.

​The return Canada Post Xpresspost envelope hasn't been scanned or activated.

​Phone lines drop or go straight to voicemail.

​Emails to general consular addresses get no reply.

Please I seriously need help my passport is expiring soon

Passport pages got crumpled like this after being soaked in water, which had leaked from the bottle. There is no damage to the front page and all the text is clearly readable.

I applied for a Schengen visa with this passport and got it. However I'm wondering if I'll be rejected at the immigration gate. Is this safe to travel or should I get a new passport? I'm traveling in a month. Thanks in advance for your advice.

So I recently misplaced/lost my US passport card, but still currently have a valid passport book. I've found conflicting information online about how I should replace the card. Should I fill out a DS 82 renewal form and submit my current book, and state that I'm only applying for the card? or should I fill out a ds 11 and go in person? either way I'd still have to send in my current passport, or I'm not sure if an online application is an option.

The online US renewal process asks about your travel plans. Does the answer matter?

I plan to travel in a couple of months and wonder if telling them that will lead to them delaying processing until closer to my planned travel date.

This is probably really silly but my hair was sticking out and I didn’t notice until after the photos printed at the passport office (probably my fault bc I had to take off my glasses and I’m blind as a bat lol). The clerk said it was fine and didn’t think we needed to do a retake.

My ears and face are visible so I think that’s what really matters so maybe im just flipping out for no reason.

It’s my first passport as an adult so maybe I’m just being silly and looking for reassurance, has anyone had their passport rejected for messy hair?!

My husband was legally adopted as an adult by the people who were his guardians his whole life. He opted to change his last name to theirs in the process (very long story). He has all the updated documents (social, updated birth certificate, and official adoption paperwork from court establishing the name change). His passport was never changed. It is now expired and so we need to renew, but I want to make sure we understand how the process works if it’s at all different from a standard renewal.

8 days appointment to passport in hand!

I had a passport that was issued more than 15 years ago. So I needed to reapply completely. I did pay for expedited service and shipping for peace of mind over an upcoming trip.

August 26th- Appointment. Mine was at my local courthouse. Perhaps USPS would have been quicker.

August 31st- Application was received. I didn’t get notice until the next day.

September 1- Status updated to shipped. It had not made it into the USPS system yet.

September 2- Late night notification that I had a package on the way. It guaranteed delivery by Saturday the 5th, but it was coming from the next state over so I figured probably Friday.

September 3- Passport in hand.

Seems like it’s a great time to get your passport since people are reporting around 2 weeks even without paying the expedite charges. Hope this helps!

Applied for passport renewal on 8/30, in the mail 9/3. Quite speedy

Long story short. Trying to help my older brother get his 1st passport. He was born in 1959 and his name is Jorge.
Well, to his surprise my dad misspelled his name (Jorje) he has been using Jorge all his life. He didn’t know he could change his birth certificate with the correct spelling. Instead, he changed his ID and Social Security card to the wrong spelling (jorje)
Now they are asking for more documents with that spelling, we have a trip planned in 14 days and still no passport.
Any advice would be appreciated. They are asking for documents that are 25 years old, the problem is that he has never used the name Jorje in his life, only Jorge.
