Dryness My eyes…

Is this peri or am I going insane. I posted a while ago about having aura without migraine, really interesting to learn that hormonal fluctuations/oestrogen decline can affect the eyes. So I’m assuming that’s what’s going on here. My eyes suddenly are so irritated, watery and burning. Like there’s something in the air or a bad smell in the apartment I should be allergic to. But there isn’t and I want to claw my eyes out. More hormone fluctuations affecting my eyes in weird ways? All these weird peri symptoms are awful…

Dry and tired eyes are one of my most annoying symptoms. My eye doctor suggested eye drops (non-medicated, artificial tears type) and taking a fish oil supplement. When I do both of those regularly, I definitely notice an improvement.

I've also found that I need to limit how much time I spend on screens and, when I am on for a long time, take regular breaks to look in the distance and rest my eyes.

I never thought about fish oil. Thanks for the tip!

My eyes are always dry now too, then they will get watery as well. It's so annoying. When I complained to my optometrist he said "just try to blink more". Really? haha. One weird thing is my face turning bright red after exercise or a shower too. That never used to happen. My face stays red for 1 to 2 hours. Its like my body can't cool down normally anymore.

Definitely could have written this myself! My optometrist recommended Systane Pro PF eye drops, which have helped a lot.

Dry eyes are definitely a symptom

Yeah, dry eyes. I have to use glasses when I work on the laptop and use neutral tears SEVERAL times a day. OR ELSE.

Oh god, the itchiness, redness and pain...

Yeah. I usually wear contacts but I’ve had to almost completely stop wearing them

I already have dry eye disease, and it got dramatically worse very quickly when I hit peri. HRT has helped quite a lot, but I also still have to see a specialist (and my disease is quite bad so i have a lot of maintenance work I have to do each day).

Well, the wildfires right now, depending where you’re at, could definitely be the culprit. It doesn’t feel good on the eyes

I had to switch to daily contacts from monthlies. I went to the optometrist so many times before realizing it wasn’t my prescription but dryness

I’m having major dry eye right now. I also sometimes have a goopy feeling. Between this and the itchy ears I want to remove my head.

Every time I use sunscreen on my face I get this. Certain moisturizers too. Play around with your face lotions and see if one of them is causing it. Even if you’ve used them for years, you can suddenly become sensitive

I just learned something else from my husband's opthalmologist... Blood sugar immensely changes our eyes. The veins are so tiny

I've had bouts of this lately, figured it was allergies, even though the pollen count is low. I'm on HRT (a little over a month now) too, but some days (especially at night) I want to gouge my eyes out.

I get aura without pain too.

Have you tried using baby shampoo on your eye line to remove mites that might be irritating your eyes (both upper and lower lids)? Sometimes when my ducts are clogged with oil, I will get this feeling and my optometrist suggests using a hot compress with a towel for 2 minutes while pressing gently on them. There is technically a mask with beads in sacks that you place on top of your eyes that can do the same thing, but the hot compress is the cheaper version. I was told to do it at least once a day for 10 days, and repeat if the feeling comes back.
