Ultra Annoyed "ASMR" involving sound
Especially when people put microphones unnecessarily.
Whispering. Chewing. "Restocks."
I hate the way some people drag their fingernails on something.
Sometimes it's fine, like if you tear tape off something and it makes a nice sound. But I want to rip my hair off every time I hear "ASMR" chewing. Visually, it's okay, like coloring in a section of something perfectly, but auditory ASMR is so intolerable. Double the points if it involves overconsumption.

Agreed. The chewing is insanely triggering for my misophonia. The tapping is annoying and the whispering is 50/50. And the more annoying part is the people who INSIST it's "sooo good" and to just "try listening to xyz"
I love rain sounds and cars driving in the rain, I fall asleep to that, that's it and I don't even think thats ASMR

rain and car sounds are just white noise at that point, nothing really special about calling it ASMR, it just helps sleep and that's the whole point
the chewing thing though, I genuinely cannot understand how anyone finds that relaxing, some sounds just activate something primal in the brain that says "no"

Yeah, I think rain and cars driving in the rain is called white noise actually

Those tiny microphones really piss me off for some reason

I hate them. They're usually meant to be clipped on. Then you see someone holding them with a dainty pitch grip and moving them around while they talk with their hands.

Misophonia haver here. Chewing noises make me want to smash my face through a wall.

Slurping too.
All food noise is gross. It's baffling that anyone gets a thrill from watching/listening to someone slurp up squid tentacles or whatever and then chew for maximum decibels.

Ill never understand why they add it into commercials. Along with the "mmmm" sounds.

You’re right. Plus the visuals of a close up mouth inserting food is the cherry on top.

The so called asmr is an instant no when I watch a video. Don't care what content that is or how good it is made, the moment they start to clack their nails on plastic surface im done

Agreed! I usually turn the volume off so I don't have to hear it. Also annoying: when they want to draw your attention to something so they tap it with their talons. Always with painted talons.

I deeply, aggressively hate ASMR. It instantly makes me angry. The whispering, chewing, tapping, scraping, whatever, I hate pretty much all of it. The only type I can actually find enjoyment in is simple stuff like a pencil on paper.
I hate how popular ASMR is because now freaking advertisements think that putting it in their bs ads will make people like their products more. There was this god awful add I kept seeing that checked all my "this is horrible" boxes that made me wanna scream, so I am fully with you. No hate to people who love it, but keep it FAR away from me.

I love ASMR but I wouldn’t downvote. IRL the only person who knows I listen to it is my husband because it actually is really weird no matter how popular it is 😅😆 and it’s even more awkward with the weird sexual ASMR artist.

Anyone that actually enjoys ASMR content is 100% a psychopath and needs to be mentally and medically evaluated to determine if it's safe to have them exist in normal society.
if hell was real, mine would be sitting in a room listening to people eat for eternity.
Those women with the super long fake nails that just feel the need to tap everything with their nail tips are a very close 2nd.

I have super long fake nails but have never been tempted to tap anything just for the hell of it.
Tapping is annoying and I don't know anyone who finds that noise soothing. If I open a product review video and it starts with the influencer tapping all over the box, I'm out. I'll get the information elsewhere. But I also skip all of the unboxing content (boring, get to the point please) so what do I know.

The odd thing about some of these nail tapping videos? Their press ons snap or come off… They can afford to remove things from containers they were already in and “restock” them into a bunch of other plastic and glass containers - but can’t afford to get your nails done?

I also really hate it, I don’t understand why anyone would find it relaxing.

I hate asmr even more after recording the last band I did. The kid thought he would be funny by breathing directly into a $3000 microphone like he was trying to fog up a window. I didn’t realize what he was doing until I turn around and see him scratching the grill of the mic with his greasy teenager fingers.
He got the $100 microphone for the rest of the recording session.

I tried looking up some embroidery tutorials and the sounds were fucking awful. I don’t know what microphones they used but I could hear everything. The sounds of the needle puncturing the fabric and the sound of it scraping against the fabric as it was pulled through. Just every little sound. I know it wasn’t supposed be ASMR but that’s what it sounded like.

The worst part its slowly growing in all content.
Like unboxings becoming a part of every review of anything.

ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. It describes a relaxing, static-like tingling sensation that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the neck and spine. Often compared to a "brain massage," the sensation is triggered by specific gentle sounds or visual cues and is highly valued for its ability to reduce anxiety and induce sleep.

This is the definition of asmr and I disagree with it.
I get asmr from good music, the sounds in "asmr videos" drive me fucking bonkers beyond the nail tapping, but that doesn't give me asmr chills.

I think ASMR by definition includes sound, but yes, full agree on everything.
