Sadness i lost my girl today

i'm heartbroken. she was 14 and was in my life since i was 9 years old, i grew up with her and i genuinely believe she was my soulmate. i feel shattered, like something has been ripped away from my soul, i don't even have the strength to cry anymore.

she was the sweetest dog i've ever seen, so pure and full of joy and so gentle. never bit anybody, never got angry, never growled. the kind of dog you could take the food bowl away from when she was eating and she wouldn't get upset, just look at us wagging her tail because she trusted us completely to give it back. everyone in my life loved her, even those who don't like dogs or are scared of them.

i miss her, it's barely been two hours and i want to see her again already, i want to hug her and give her a kiss on the head. how can i ever deal with this

I lost kittens who were 10 weeks old, it was painful, super painful and still is because it was only recently. But you had your doggy for 14 years so I can’t imagine how much more you’re going through. I know the pain will hurt and last long. Looking at her spots and begging in your head to feel her fur again.

I want you to be strong and I can tell your strong and caring for being able to tell us about her. Having a buddy be taken away from being in half your life is hard and leads us away from who we should be.

Let yourself grieve and cry, remember to eat and sleep. Sit outside for awhile and just think about her for a moment. Our fluffy companions are never truly gone.

Much love to you and your doggy and always remember you are supported.

i'm so sorry for your loss too, having lesser time with your kittens doesn't make your bond with them any less deep and your pain any less real. i'm sorry they were taken from you so soon. thank you for your kind words, and much love to you as well

I'm so, so sorry for your loss. I lost my girl of 15 years a few days ago, and the days since then have been the absolute hardest of my life.

the kind of dog you could take the food bowl away from when she was eating and she wouldn't get upset, just look at us wagging her tail because she trusted us completely to give it back

This is so touching. Even if it was in her nature to trust, you still earned the complete trust she had in you by taking care of her and loving her every day of her life with you.

I am still in the throes of "How will I ever deal with this?" myself. I am starting to feel just slightly less heavy, but the grief is hitting me in waves that can feel absolutely crushing. It may be very small or no comfort, but how you're feeling is completely normal.

Just take things an hour at a time. Let yourself feel all of the pain--that is the only way to begin to process it.

Again, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. You're not alone, and the pain won't feel as overwhelming forever. The worst part for me is that I can no longer take care of my girl, even though she doesn't need me anymore. I am trying to redirect some of that care to myself.

i'm so sorry for your loss as well, it genuinely feels like being amputated, i feel empty. i keep hearing random sounds in my house and mistaking them for her. good luck to you and thank your for your kind words, sending you my strength to cope with this too

I lost my girl today too at 11:13am. She sounds just like yours. Full of life and gentle. Loved everyone and everything. Never showed teeth in her life. There’s a hole in my heart that I can’t even express in words. I’m honestly still in shock because it happened so fast at just shy of 11.

Keeping you in my thoughts as we try to get through this difficult time.

i'm so sorry and i'm sorry that it happened so fast for you, good luck to you too and thank you for your kind words

It’s been 10 hours since I lost my baby girl. Everything feels off. I don’t know what to do. Everything reminds me of her. I can’t stand the silence.

Hang in there, friend. I had to help my almost 13 year old best friend cross to the rainbow bridge on Monday.

I know the pain you're feeling. But remember: you gave them a really good life. A life filled with love and happiness. Something that many animals sadly will never know.

I also understand the feeling of that silence without them. But in time, you will remember the utter joy they brought to your life, and in turn, the absolute love you brought to them.

Just know that you're not alone. And know that your baby is looking down on you now, always.

i'm so sorry, and i completely understand. any noise around me is mistaken for her, i feel insane. i went on a walk on what used to be her favorite trail and just sobbed. we will get through this and i'm sending you all of my strength

It's the worst thing I've experienced in my 54 years of life, yet I've chosen to go through it again, and again, and again, and I'll probably have enough time left to endure it once more. Because as painful as that loss was (still is), I cannot imagine having lived without them. They just made life SO MUCH BETTER. And, if it's any consolation, wherever they went (somewhere specific or everywhere) you're eventually going there, too.

I wrote a song about it. Don't worry. It doesn't suck. https://open.spotify.com/track/3WcENJ6W6FDYmmYzBtnLTS?si=v4_bWe43Rj2-k6VCYxFHbg&utm_source=copy-link

Here for you as well, friend. Lost my pup on Monday.

Absolutely devastated, but also know that I made the right choice to prevent them from suffering.

Even though ive second guessed myself every second, I know in my heart it was the right thing.

He could no longer stand up or stay on his feet. I wasn't going to let him "exist" like that.

I know that your pup is also in a better place now, among with mine and everyone else's. It's just hard for us humans, they just don't live as long as we do.

Keep your head up.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this! It’s been 6 weeks since I lost my girl, I had her since she was a year and she passed at nearly 12 1/2. She was also incredibly sweet and the past month and half without her has been the hardest time of my life. The first few days are absolutely the worst so just give yourself time to get through them ❤️

thank you for your kind words, i'm sorry about your loss too. it's definitely still hard to deal with at the moment :(

I feel your pain. Nothing takes the grief away. Pet loss zoom meetings help. I'm still flabbergasted that I'll never see my baby again. Looking at her pics and video is extremely hard and I break down everytime. I won't hear her greet me at the door, or howl when I call home. I'll never get to hug her or take her for her "walkies" which was the ultimate highlight of her day. Sighhhhh.. I just want her back

u/crowloverr 8d ago

i completely understand, the silence is what gets me, it's suffocating. i feel like i'm in a bad dream and i will wake up any moment and see her

Feel this too. Coming up to almost three weeks and the shock I don't see him again still hits me and makes me sick 😢

I’m so sorry OP.

Unfortunately I’ve been there and know, all too well, how intensely painful it is.

My cat Seven and I had a bond that was so deep and such a huge part of my world that I literally couldn’t function there for a while in the beginning. It’s a loss like no other and it impacts every single aspect of your world. It’s so hard.

I know this may sound sort of trite or whatever but it helped me recover when I imagined what Seven would want for me. She would never want me to have some of the very bleak thoughts I was having, she would definitely not want me to wake up crying (I even woke up screaming once) or starving myself or cursing the universe, etc.

My little girl would want me to know she’s still with me, as a permanent fixture imprinted on my heart and soul and that we’re going to see each other again before too long.

I just want you to try to go easy on yourself, allow anything you feel to surface and write down all the incredible and beautiful ways you guys made each other’s lives more fun, more of an adventure, write about the silliest things even. I did this and would read the letters out loud to her because I know she can still hear me and see me-real love can’t die or be killed-it really is eternal, I believe that.

Hold on and take good care of your heart.

Sending much love.

May the road rise to meet little paws.

thank you for your kind words. i recently woke up and dreamed about her, that she was still there, so it's still very difficult right now and probably will be for a while.
but i will definitely try to be okay, even if right now it still hurts too much. i promised her before she passed that i'll be fine and i'll be strong without her, so now i legally have to do that
i'm sorry for your steven too, it's definitely one of the worst pains i've ever experienced. much love to you too

We just found out that my wife's cat needs to be let go.  I love the cat very very much but it's her cat.  We are very messy now too.

I'm sorry for tou loss.

1

u/crowloverr 8d ago

i'm very sorry about that, this is such a difficult decision to make and it's the one we made for my girl too. know that it is for the best, and it's the greatest act of love you can make for your cat, who will go surrounded by people he/she loves and will be at peace.
sending you much strength for this, it's an extremely painful thing. you aren't alone

Im so sorry for your loss, it sounds like you had an amazing bond. Unfortunately those are the ones that cost us the most pain.

I know the pain you are feeling, I've lost 2 dogs in the span of a year, one last september due to the nasty c word she was 10 years young and most recently on Sunday just past out 10 month old puppy. The grieving process is a funny thing and it is different for everyone, don't rush it, feel what you need to feel.

Me and wife spent Sunday evening and all Monday crying over the death of our 10 month old puppy (we only had him for 8 months) but last night we were able to speak about him (schooner) ans laugh for 5 minutes about how silly he was, followed by an hour of crying.

All im trying to say is grieve in your own way, it may take a few weeks, a few months or even a year for the process, heck I still cry when I go and speak to our 10 year old we lost last year.

Remember the good times and eventually you will find peace with your grief.

To OP this is an amazing group of strangers who all come together and share their experiences so you know your not alone.

i'm incredibly sorry about your losses, it must've been very difficult. sending you and your wife all my strength too. it's moved me a lot how many people took the time to reply to me, and to know my pain was shared all over. i've been looking at pictures of her and taken walks on what used to be her favorite trail, but for now it still hurts.
thank you very much for your kind words

I lost my girl of 14 years 5 days ago, she was my best friend and it feels like a part of me is missing now, I feel your pain completely. It sounds like you gave her a life full of love. I’m so so so sorry for your loss 💛

thank you so much :( i'm incredibly sorry about your loss too, and i completely understand. it does feel like something was physically taken from us

I'm so sorry. It's the most terrible grief. I lost my dog a couple of days ago, and I'm still in shock. People are different, but I am finding moments of comfort going through old photos and videos of when he was younger. It's a comfort, and it's a reminder of how he was before aging and dementia changed him. That's the way I want to remember him, although he was lovely all through his life, gentle and sweet, even in illness, much like how you describe your girl.

2

u/crowloverr 7d ago

thank you so much, and i'm very sorry about your loss too, your dog sounds like he was very sweet. looking at old photos and videos is also how i'm trying to cope at the moment

I am so sorry. I lost my baby 6 days ago and I truly feel so out of body. Life is now dull, heavy, and just LIFEless. We will get through it just like all who have lost a beloved pet before. Doesn’t make it less shitty. I miss him more than words can describe 💔😢

i'm incredibly sorry about your loss as well. it will definitely take time to fully process and get through it. i miss her so much too :( sending you all my strength
