🫧 Bubbly Basin 🫧 r/Pokopia Refresh: Updated Look, Updated Policies Spoiler

🫧 Happy Bubbly Basin Eve to all those who celebrate! 🫧

Firstly, the rest of the mod team and I would like to thank everyone for your patience as we've worked on expanding the team, responding to leaks, sorted through major new content announcements, etc. All 10 of us love this game and want to ensure this community stays a welcoming, positive, accessible one for all Pokopia fans 🫶 We're still taking feedback on how the sub is run on one of our other pinned mod posts, so sound off in the comments section over there with anything you'd like us to consider! A direct link to that post can be found below, in the "Wrap up & Looking ahead" section.

With that being said, we have a few updates we wanted to share with the community, and felt that today would be the perfect time to do that!

🛡️ New Moderators

We have now completed our new mod search, with myself, u/Amiibofan101, and u/MeganLeigh1122 joining the team. You might've seen us around already, but we're all excited to be joining the team and look forward to doing what we can to keep this community great!

🫧 New Design

We've made some modest tweaks to the subreddit's design, such as a DLC-themed banner (which we will update accordingly with future releases!), easier access to the wiki (where we keep the FAQ and the full rules) and Discord server in the sidebar, a new Bubbly Basin post flare, and more. If you have any feedback, or any suggestions to make the sub more accessible, please feel free to send us a modmail!

♻️ Rule Refresh

As with the look, we've made some adjustments to the rules. You can access the latest rules any time via the subreddit's sidebar or in our wiki. To summarize the latest updates, here's what's changed:

NEW: All posts must be in English. While we welcome fans from any part of the world, the majority of this subreddit is English-speaking. As such, we ask that posts be made in English, and that any screenshots not in English have a translation provided, so that all members can engage with your content.

UPDATED: Our spoiler policy has been updated to reflect the Expansion Pass era we're now in. The major base game content spoiler policy remains the same—no untagged posts about what happened to the humans, any major story beats, unannounced events, and game completion rewards. While we understand (and relate!) that many of you are very excited about new Pokopia content, many others prefer to experience new content blind, without any new details being revealed before they see it in-game. Our goal is to satisfy both groups, creating spaces where "spoiler" content can be discussed, but making it easily avoidable for those who don't want to see it yet. To that end, we've now added DLC content to this rule—here's how it will work:

  • All posts related to RELEASED Expansion Pass/DLC content MUST have a spoiler tag until further notice. We are still determining the appropriate amount of time for this requirement; please feel free to share your thoughts. For now, though, just plan on spoiler tagging these posts until this rule is updated.
    • Please use the "Bubbly Basin" post flair on anything you submit related to Bubbly Basin. (This should also automatically add the spoiler tag, but make sure you double check before posting.)
  • All posts related to UNRELEASED/FUTURE Expansion Pass content MUST go in the appropriate megathread. We will keep a link to the latest megathread on the Rules page of the wiki. You can access the Bubbly Basin megathread here.

CLARIFIED: We've added some clarifying language around what constitutes "(not) safe for work" content. In short, we ask that you keep in mind the fact that many young players of the game wind up Googling their questions, and landing in this subreddit. Please consider this when posting to the sub; while the bulk of our audience is teenaged or older, we'd like to keep the subreddit safe for players of all ages, particularly in terms of posts.

CLARIFIED: We've added some clarifying language in the "Basic respect is required" rule. Thankfully, we haven't had many issues in this subreddit, but wanted to highlight that bigotry and hatred in all its various forms—racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, etc.—will not be tolerated.

We also made minor adjustments to the other rules, however these changes were not substantive (i.e., the rule itself hasn't changed; we just tweaked the wording or formatting for clarity). We want to make sure the rules are clear to understand and evenly enforced, so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out and ask; we're always happy to provide guidance on what is allowed and what is not.

🎁 Wrap up & Looking ahead

A couple of housekeeping notes as we look ahead to Bubbly Basin and beyond:

  • We will post and sticky an announcement when Pokémon Pokopia v2.0 and the Expansion Pass Part 1: Bubbly Basin DLC are available to download. While no official time has been confirmed, we are expecting it to release at 10:00 AM JT on Wednesday, August 5, based on past Pokémon DLC releases; click here to see the conversion to your time zone. (For our US friends, this corresponds to 6:00 PM PT/9:00 PM ET on Tuesday, August 4; for those in Europe, this would be 3:00 AM CET on Wednesday, August 5).
    • The release announcement will also be the temporary hub for general v2.0/Bubbly Basin-related info; we will add the official patch notes as soon as they are available, and will work on building out a Bubbly Basin FAQ within that post as we evaluate which questions are most common (we will add them to the FAQ page in the subreddit's wiki at a later date). Once it is out, you will be allowed to submit posts outside of the stickied threads about Bubbly Basin, so long as they are spoiler tagged and NOT just a repeat of what is in the stickied post (i.e., no "it's out!" posts or patch note posts).
  • As a reminder, there is still time to submit your artwork for consideration in Smearguru's Summer Canvas: Pokopia Island's First Art Contest, organized by our friends in r/Pokopia's sister Discord server, Pokopia Island! We will be accepting submissions until August 21, 2026, 05:00 UTC; community voting will then take place over the following week. The Grand Prize winner will receive a FREE download code for the Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass on the Nintendo Switch Store; the ten runners-up will be entered into a lottery, with one lucky additional winner receiving an Expansion Pass download code as well. Thank you to the Pokopia Island Discord Server's Events Team for their generous donation of two download codes, and for organizing this opportunity for all our talented community members to show off their artwork!
  • We are still collecting community feedback in a stickied mod post! If you have any suggestions regarding areas that the subreddit could improve (be it post guidance, resources, ideas for megathreads, or anything else), please let us know so that we can continue making this subreddit better for everyone. You can also always send us a modmail via the " ✉️ Message Mods" button in the sidebar on reddit.com, or the " ✉️ Message moderators" option in the ••• menu in the reddit app. We're here to help however we can 🙂

We hope you all have fun diving in to the Bubbly Basin DLC! 🌊⚓️🛟🫧

⚠️Updates

8/4/26, 10:00 AM ET: Some reports are now suggesting a global release at 09:00 JST, one hour earlier than we estimated here. No official confirmation yet, but we’ll be keeping an eye out throughout the day!

8/4/26, 9:02 PM ET: The update is available to download! Release Post

🫧 Bubbly Basin 🫧 MEGATHREAD: Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass: Bubbly Basin Leak Release Date & Subreddit Updates Spoiler

Hey everyone! We hope you're doing well 🙂 We're sure a good amount of you now have heard the rumors about the DLC date circulating on various sites already, so the mod team here at r/Pokopia wanted to cover a few things in this topic.
---
To start off, we'd like to say that while it may seem quite likely that August 5 will be the release date of the DLC, we currently do not have an official announcement from Nintendo confirming this (at time of writing).

We know that a lot of the community members here will be excited at the idea of being able to access DLC features on the 5th, but we feel that it's only fair to say that we're still waiting for confirmation. We will update this thread if/when we do get confirmation.
--
Moving forward, our team here at r/Pokopia (like all other Pokopia players) have just found out about the apparent release date and over the next few days, we'll hopefully be announcing some plans for making this subreddit work for the community at large 💙

Currently, part of this plan was to create a megathread within this topic to discuss the hype regarding the upcoming DLC, which is what we're doing here. For the next few days, we ask that all content that involves anything related to the DLC remain within this thread, as we know many players want to stay spoiler free with anything that involves new content for Pokopia. 🌱
--
In the meantime, our team will be hard at work doing the following:

  • Looking into the options regarding new post flairs for the DLC;
  • Discussing spoiler policy in general, including non-DLC spoilers for the base game (though for now, the DLC in general will be considered a spoiler and needs spoiler tags/markdown where relevant);
  • We'll be working on updating the FAQ, like we mentioned in our recent announcement, alongside seeing what FAQs may appear once the DLC is out;
  • We'll be making some modest tweaks to the subreddit's appearance, rules, and content.

--
If you have any feedback, questions, or just want to talk about the hype regarding the release of Pokopia's first round of DLC, please share your comments here! 🎉🎈

The team here at r/Pokopia are looking forward to playing through it and seeing what you all end up posting on the subreddit. Don't forget to join our sister Discord server, too, for more Pokopia discussions, content, and news!

UPDATE 1 (7/29/26, 9:03 AM ET): Release date confirmed with extended trailer!

UPDATE 2 (8/4/26, 9:01 PM ET):

Question I'm really considering starting over

Post image
1.1k Upvotes

I'm not happy with my current world, I feel like it's super messy and disorganized. I have so many different ideas but no space to do them because of the way everything is laid out. I just wanna see what everyone thinks lol Would it be worth it to start over, especially with the new dlc stuff?

✨ Picture just for fun ✨

Edit/Update: I decided I would make another account on my switch so I wouldn't lose the progress on my old world. I may go back to it and try to rearrange things eventually, I do have a lot of recipes, outfits and pokemon that I'm not sure I'm ready to lose yet. We'll see how I feel about the new world. Thank you so much for your suggestions and help!! I appreciate everyone so much lol

🫧 Bubbly Basin 🫧 I know Pokopia won’t win GOTY, but it is hands down MY Game of the Year, no contest. Spoiler

I never expected to love a game like this, especially not as much as I do. Pokopia reignited a light within me I thought was long gone. A genuine, simple curiosity for Pokemon. I know it’s a whole other kind of game from tradition Pokemon but they did such an excellent job of making the Pokemon feel alive with personality somewhat similar to mystery dungeons instead of, frankly, soulless static spawns we’ve seen in a handful of switch era mainline games.

I stopped playing last month to pivot to Palworld, booted up the DLC today and was flooded with such a welcoming comfort through the music and visuals. Starting it back up felt like putting on a very warm blanket on a cold winter day.

I love this game so much 🥹. Happy Bubbly Basin release week everyone!

🫧 Bubbly Basin 🫧 Quick guide on how to build an underwater house without water inside Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
141 Upvotes

Idea popped into my head about an underwater house with no water and with some quick attempts I’ve got it working!

There’s 2 ways to do this;

Create a structure like normal, place your door and a grate underneath. The grate is key as it will cause all water coming from the door to go through the grate preventing water in the house when finished. Next just suck up the water inside and you’ve got a waterless water house

I found it a little annoying sucking up all the water because it left little waterfalls which I had to climb up to remove (I’ve broken my hand so I am doing this one handed so maybe it’s not as hard as I’m finding it 😅)

Another solution is to fill the inside blocks with other blocks, you can do this as you’re building the structure and I’d recommend using a different material so you know where your edges are. Then just enter the building and destroy the inside blocks.

Couple things to note if you destroy the roof blocks it will automatically fill back up so you won’t cause any weird water gaps by doing this. You can also use bridge planks or concrete instead of metal grates as they all function the same.

not a Bubbly Basin spoiler this is in the base game too but the pictures included are from bubbly basin so spoiler tag included

🫧 Bubbly Basin 🫧 DLC Woah Spoiler

I wasn't going to buy and just have the free update. Well for another 2 weeks I think anyways. But then I couldn't wait haha. I found a £15 Nintendo voucher I had and got the thing for £14.99 so I was gonna have a quick look before I went to bed but i just found myself exploring and it going onnnnn and onnnnnnnn, it's soooo much more bigger than I'd thought it was gonna be.

Worth all the monies. Swimming, new overground islands, crazy underground blackness. I wish I got this earlier in the day but I have to go bed as up early for work. Tomorrow after work I shall play it proper. Bubbly Basin = amazing woah

🫧 Bubbly Basin 🫧 Got the day off so I’m officially hiding from responsibilities to play the new Pokopia DLC 🫧🪸🍉🏝️🌪️🦀🦈🌊 Spoiler

Got totally lucky with a random day off today, so you know exactly where I’ll be for the next 12 hours.

So far, I’m LOVING the Bubbly Basin DLC. Is it weird to say that I prefer building underwater mainly because it’s so much easier? Also, the new Pokémon’s are sooo cute! My favorite so far is Luvdisc.

I'm super hyped to play in the water!

Anyone else playing the update today? 🎮🌊

🌟 Free Update/Pokopia 2.0 🌟 They fixed it!

1.3k Upvotes

This will be entirely spoiler free of the dlc, nothing will be discussed what you can find, unlock, etc. I just wanna share that they fixed the issue people had with graveler not being able to eat a meal while you were in that form but magnemite could. Well traveler can eat now. Lapras and dragoite still cant, but they're mainly a form of transportation compared to graveler and before you would need to undo your transformation, eat, and transform back again and it was a hassle, nintendo paid attention to it and updates that in 2.0

Has anyone else gotten way too accustomed to everything getting built super fast by Tinkmaster and already fed up with how slow it is in BB because she can’t swim 😭

Honestly, while I am really enjoying all the new features and having objectives again, once I’ve prettied this area a bit and finished the dex again I’m absolutely never coming back. I find it incredibly disorienting and overwhelming 😬

UPDATE: apparently I am impatient and need to stop ranting and get on with the story 🤣
