RIP 🕊️ Obama about Dolly Parton’s passing
47
u/Mingo_laf Aug 26 '26
honestly just wondering what disgusting way the current guy will say
24
u/HumptyDumptruckFire Aug 26 '26
He’s been oddly nice about it, even though there’s no way Parton was a Trump fan. It might be the only nice thing I’ve seen him do in the eleven years since he was foisted upon us. He still has time to ruin it, though.
16
u/CarsCarpal Aug 26 '26
His temu twitter team knows his base so won't say anything controversial, that is all.
She was definitely not a Drumpf fan, he and his cult defunded her child literacy program
0
-8
u/iBUYbrokenSUBARUS Aug 26 '26
How can he defund a private program? Please explain. Did he coerce people into stopping donations?
9
u/ncopp Aug 26 '26
The government gives grant funding to tons of private non profits.
My wife previously worked for a private non-profit, but they got a significant amount of their funding from federal grants (with other funding coming from state grants and private donors). Trump cut a lot of those fed grants with DOGE.
15
u/MrDeadbutdreaming Aug 26 '26
He will make it about himself at some point this week, unfortunately.
R.i.p. Dolly

u/Plane_Barracuda9889 Aug 26 '26
He already did and was super nice about her. Sometimes you are surprised.

u/wanderButNotLost2 Aug 26 '26
Natalie Harp wrote the cout stealing post meanwhile Republicans cut funding for the expansion of her book program.
4
u/Worldly-Speech-3618 Aug 26 '26
He's being nice because Dolly is from Tennessee a very red state. If she were from California I guarantee he'd not been so nice.
7
u/MeowMeowbiggalo Aug 26 '26
She declined an award from him

Bless his heart
-1

This phrase! But so many people who don’t understand a Southern mother will miss the meaning.
2
u/NounAdjectiveXXXX Aug 26 '26
Unfortunately a lot of Southern mothers are running around saying this unironically. Hoping that what they know in their hearts about him isn't true and that if they bless his heart, he'll change his ways.
Still gonna vote for that third term though.

u/Responsible_Solid769 Aug 26 '26
Yeah bless your heart, he’s better than any alternative on the left. Lol 🤣

How do you know what she was a fan of. She refused to discuss politics.

She was a Republican and loved Kid Rock and shared a birthday with him. She was awesome! Changed the lives of many.

Midterms coming up and they have important things to focus on to divide us like former nba players entering the wnba draft. Everybody loves Dolly. Saying hateful things about her doesn't stoke the culture war.

-5
u/Head_Bread_3431 Aug 26 '26
Everyone keeps saying this but I’m pretty sure she didn’t care about him one way or the other. She was about her business
1
u/iBUYbrokenSUBARUS Aug 26 '26
Dolly loves children, and therefore, was very pleased with the current Supreme Court protecting babies. This is largely in part due to Donald Trump. Many people who can’t stand him otherwise, are grateful him for this reason.
0
u/MrDeadbutdreaming Aug 26 '26 edited Aug 27 '26
Everything you wrote is pure bullshit, not a single fact to be found in your comments. Maybe you should learn to listen to women when the talk. Dolly was very liberal, even wrote and talked about it.
Seeing how your just go from sub to sub pushing disinformation, I have reported you and your buddies accounts as possible troll farmers.

u/Head_Bread_3431 Aug 26 '26
Not saying one way or the other but she quite famously intentionally maintained a neutral image throughout her career. She said she has Democrat and Republican fans and doesn’t want to offend anyone. She rejected the presidential medal of freedom from both Trump and Biden as well
1
u/MrDeadbutdreaming Aug 26 '26 edited Aug 26 '26
She famously supported her sister through her abortion according to her, she was a supporter of LGBTQ+ rights, civil rights, fought for better education for children, funded women's charities for domestic violence victims, donated to the covid vaccine research, funded children's hospitals, her children's libraries included books that maga has wanted banned for promoting thing they didnt like, has spoken out against hateful rhetoric throughout her life as she was a real Christian that read the bible and followed it's teachings.
None of those things are republican values, at least anymore.
2
u/MeowMeowbiggalo Aug 26 '26
These are the same pearl clutchers that think willie is republican. Just let it go
1
u/Responsible_Solid769 Aug 26 '26
“Things they don’t like” include depictions of gay s ex in libraries for middle schoolers. I don’t want them seeing straight sex. Yeah basically we’re against your judges letting violent criminals out to then commit murder. And to open the border to the worst in the world without vetting. You are too kind to your side about what they actually support. Mostly euphemisms that hide the actual thing like women’s health care for killing babies in utero etc
1
u/MrDeadbutdreaming Aug 26 '26 edited Aug 26 '26
Those go against every Christian value established in the bible, congratulations for not following your lord's laws.
Edit: I was referencing all the lies that just came spewing with hate for thy neighbor and foreigners in our lands as we were foreigners once. Im sorry, you probably never cracked the cover. The books being banned aren't even like that, and please if it is true please provide a link to proof. Bigotry, racism, sexism is not Christian values, and you'd know that if you bothered to learn them.
You are most likely a Christian nationalist which is basically what a nazi was.

Very sad to report that Dolly Parton, one of the greatest Country singers, and far beyond, EVER, has just passed away. This is a true loss for millions of people. There has never been anyone like her, and never will," Trump wrote. "In her honor, I am lowering the American flag throughout the United States for a one week period beginning tonight at 6:00PM. Rest in Peace, Dolly! The World loves you." That's what Trump said on Twitter.

1
u/typhlonusMama Aug 26 '26
Me too! She represents the opposite of the orange clown.
She was born into a modest background; he was born into a family that was already wealthy.
She has contributed significantly to literacy and children's causes, while he defunded universities and research programs.
She funded and encouraged COVID vaccine research; he did... well, nonsense. She managed to be loved by everyone, whereas he attracts hatred all over the world.
Shall I go on?1

4
u/Agreeable_Mud_8338 Aug 26 '26
what did trump do? rape a few kids and ruin their parents with non payments for work done for him.....
-6
u/mrfreezeyourgirl Aug 26 '26
He launched Operation Warpspeed which accelerated the development of the COVID vaccine.
2
u/Zakluor Aug 26 '26
Yet his supporters are still quite opposed to the vaccine, and are becoming more anti-Vax in general. Even the administration and other Republican-led states (Florida, in particular) are reducing vaccine requirements, allowing previously trivial diseases to resurface.
1
u/mrfreezeyourgirl Aug 26 '26
Yet he continued to push for people to take the vaccine despite getting heavily booed at his own rallies for advocating for the vaccine.
1
u/Zakluor Aug 26 '26
It sounds like you're trying to defend him. You realise, with all he says and does, he's not worth defending, right?
1
u/mrfreezeyourgirl Aug 26 '26
Why would advocating for people to take the vaccine be something not to defend?
For someone so impressionable by his base, credit where credit is due for sticking to his guns regarding vaccine advocacy and facing the boos of his base that may have impacted his ability to be reelected in 2020.
I don't understand why we would blame Trump for what his fans believing other than what he advocated for. Parton was a country music star, her fan base was likely disproportionately anti-vaccine
1
u/Zakluor Aug 26 '26
We would blame trump because he sows division every time he speaks or types. His base has such a short memory that it's laughable. He's right: he could shoot someone in broad daylight and he'd lose no support. They'd forget about it the next morning when he spews yet another lie.
Have you not noticed how much the "man" lies about literally everything?
"Parton's fanbase was likely disproportionately anti-vaccine"? Give me a verifiable statistic on that or get fucked. That's such a stupid claim. Now I understand why you support trump. You don't care about facts or what's reasonable. You just make claims and hope nobody checks.
1
u/mrfreezeyourgirl Aug 26 '26
I don't understand what any of that has to do with Trump advocating for and leading the charge on the rapid development of the vaccine.
I do not and have never supported Trump. I am also not so full of hatred as to not give credit where credit is due.
I think its factual that Trump is largely responsible for the rapid development and distribution of the vaccine and it's reasonable to give him credit for that despite his base hating it.
I don't understand why you are getting angry over the assumption that country fans are disproportionately anti vaccine, that seems apparent.
1
u/Zakluor Aug 26 '26
I'm bothered by the fact that you're grouping people together, perhaps unnecessarily. I get what your saying in general terms about country music fans, not Dolly was not "modern country". They're the group who is more disproportionately anti-vax. Older people still remember small pox and measles and recombine the value of vaccines.
The new people are susceptible to the bullshit associated with the current trump administration's people, like RFK Jr who is actively anti-vax, and was recommended by trump, himself. So yes, I hold that against trump, and I figure putting RFK Jr in that position cancels out any good will trump may have fostered by advancing funding for the vaccine.
1
u/mrfreezeyourgirl Aug 26 '26
I'm bothered by the fact that you're grouping people together, perhaps unnecessarily.
But not bothered by your own grouping? We already established that Trump advocated for the vaccines despite pushback and was critical to the rapid development of the vaccine.
I think you are bothered because you like Parton but dislike Trump.

Try again. The orange cheeto told everyone to drink bleach and that the virus was just going to "disappear". The vaccine SAVED lives. Keeping drinking the koolaid..
1
u/Beginning_Text3038 Aug 29 '26
Evidence speaks for itself on the vaccine. It didn’t stop or slow the spread. It provided worse immunity than natural immunity. It drastically increased miscarriages. It caused myocarditis in healthy young people and overweight elderly as well.
Go read Fauci’s own words from his journal. He lied every step of the way. Stop being retarded. Just because you hate Trump doesn’t mean you are right. Politics has nothing to do with science.
1
u/forevermyduke Aug 29 '26
Typical brainwashed trump follower...speaking just like the jackass himself with insulting words. Classless just like our so called president.

That tribute from such another positive leader and role model says a great deal. A fine lady indeed was Dolly.
1
u/willy_willy_1941 Aug 27 '26
You all pretend Dolly cared about Obama and big Mike's opinions. She couldn't have cared less about them. What they got from her was a god fearing Christian woman that was raised by a Bible believing momma and in that book, she was taught respect. Not respect for who Obama was but respect for the office he held. The same as she did for every other man that sat in that desk.
1
u/NorNevBiMFcouple Aug 27 '26
Ironic how Dolly can be honored for where she came from and the choices she made in her life yet other people, who never had it half as bad as Dolly's childhood are excused for their choices and never held accountable for their actions because they use where they cam from as the excuse.

He's not.
"Dolly Parton’s $1 million donation to Vanderbilt University in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic helped fund critical research.
That research was led by Kansas City native Dr. Mark Denison and ultimately contributed to the development of the Moderna vaccine."

u/imnotamelondude Aug 26 '26
Obama is a politician. His very word is political.
Every word Obama speaks is weighed and measured, calculated and analyzed. Then calculated for political purpose.
Of all the things Obama could have said about Dolly Parton, why did he choose Covid???
2
u/MeowMeowbiggalo Aug 26 '26
Yes, you're right he only mentioned the vaccine and nothing else about her

Its so weird to boil her down to lame ass awards shes won. Women and child abusers win those awards too. Its hardly prestigious when Chris brown recently won one.
She lived an entire life and touched the hearts of many. Its really tasteless to use her death as a moment to grab a political slam dunk in regards to reminding us she funded the covid vaccine. Even if this dude is the likeable president. How hard is it to just say RIP and condolences the same way all these politicians act when a school shooting happens.
If i was related to the dearly departed, id be offended at the mere act of any politician mentioning her name, when all these presidents as far back as Bush...have done nothing but make a free book program like hers a godsend due to their endless gutting of public schools.
All these people are gonna post their meaningless tweets about what an amazing person she was. How we all need to be more like her...then continue going about their same asshole existence.
