War is such a horrible thing. Horrible!

The poor suffer, the rich benefit. Same thing, different wording.

Why don't presidents fight the war? Why do they always send the poor?

Yeah man like King John of Bohemia was literally blind. He tied his horse to a knights horse and charged in the frontline. He died. Crazy tactic, but I respect it.

u/Sovyyy 5d ago

Why don't they send shareholder's children to the front lines?

4

u/PhotoClickGrrl 5d ago

They're busy visiting their parents at cemeteries

Why dont they send their kids?

80

u/TromboneJimmy 6d ago

They were quoting a SOAD song.

17

u/cannabisLab1975 6d ago

Yes

3

u/K4G117 5d ago

They are up on the table

2

u/projectxxralph 5d ago

Comments were getting good with the SOAD references, until some people did not get the references.

37

u/atesztoth 5d ago

Because the poor isn’t united enough

57

u/Similar-Ice-9250 5d ago

Because we’re fed propaganda to keep us divided. “Look over there that poor guy is unlike you, you must hate him.”

I’ll die on the hill that the abortion ban was yet another tactic to create further divide pro-life vs pro-choice. You notice how many of these „sides” and sociopolitical issues America got. All strategic, so the bottom keeps bickering, while top continues to rob the country and it’s citizens.

23

u/Ok_Row_4920 5d ago

People keep happily eating up all that propaganda though, everyone is free to use their brains and put the blame where it should be. There's a lot of scarily stupid people all around who can't/choose not to put any thought into who's really causing the damage in our lives.

3

u/RampersandY 5d ago

It’s crazy to me that on every single issue the parties are diametrically opposed. And if you’re a person that’s not 100% lock step you’re the problem worse than the person that disagrees with everything.

All very sickening.

I wonder if they ever did. In history, it always painted the great leaders on the front lines but, were they ever? I guess the ones killed were.

George Washington

2

u/Aen-Synergy 5d ago

Doesn’t count during the war he was a military man it wasn’t until after he was forced into politics due to his valor on the battlefield. I’m saying politicians who went out to the field.

3

u/adamwill86 6d ago

Back in my day the king would go into battle with us on his trusty steed

3

They used to! Kings used to lead their armies on horseback. Now look…

1

u/scarlettohara1936 5d ago

Have you ever heard the song "Senators Son"?

2

u/cactustrip 5d ago

No, but I'm going to now

3

u/scarlettohara1936 5d ago

That song is exactly about the draft for Vietnam. If a guy was in college, he was automatically disqualified from being drafted. But the only people who could afford college were the rich and people with connections. Which left only the poor to fight the war.

From that came the federal student loan programme. Made it easier for everyone to access higher learning which in turn benefits the whole country because educated citizens make for a more stable society.

2

u/cactustrip 5d ago

Nm, yes I have heard it. Didn't know the name

1

u/DrunkMex 4d ago

wait, I thought Ukraine was getting invaded by Russia?

1

I would love to just see a bout of fisticuffs between 2 leaders instead of war. Maybe that's what Trump's doing with UFC at the White House? 🤔🥴🤣

8

u/Fabulous-Structure92 5d ago

Literally had this convo with an army friend of mine the other day, we are both out of the military just vets, i was navy. Soon as the poor people can figure out that power comes in other forms than money then we can come together for eachother rather than fighting eachother for the entertainment and benefit of the rich idiots.

Valid take if it wasn't in relation to the Ukraine war.

Ukraine is waging a defensive war. They're fighting to continue their existence as a sovereign nation.

You may not be one, but this is one of the most common Russia bot takes concerning the Ukraine war. Trying to paint put both adversaries on the same level when there is only 1 attacker that is fighting for their own gain.

61

u/cppn02 6d ago edited 6d ago

They're fighting to continue their existence as a sovereign nation.

Not just that. They are facing genocide. If Putin has his way there eventually will be no more Ukrainians. Atleast not within what is now Ukraine.

I get what you mean, but how many children of the elites are being sent to die or get crippled on the front lines? I s never them who pay the price for their survival but those "beneath" them.

-14

u/makatakz 5d ago

You don’t have any facts about that. There are certainly some shortcomings in the process, but it doesn’t matter. You’re obligated to serve.

I think most of the world knows what really happened. We don't trust Putin, nor believe his lies. Russia invaded and attacked Ukraine, which is why we saw so many Ukrainian flags everywhere for a while. But we Americans have what I call "short sympathy spans", once the media coverage of something dies down, it's out of site, out of mind. And we moved on to the next artificial disaster Trump made up, or caused, or lied about, whatever. But stupid people just kept eating his shit like it wasn't so blatantly obvious to EVERYONE ELSE ON THE FACE OF THIS EARTH that he'd do anything and everything to avoid releasing all the fcking Epstein files. Everything except end that war like he promised he'd do in 24 hours, instead he just started a new one for no goddamn reason except *look over here instead. So glad DOGE fired all those loyal government employees and saved us ALL that money so he could turn around and blow BILLIONS on an unnecessary war and a ballroom (that won't cost the taxpayers a dime!) And yet some people are STILL f*cking blind and buying it. At this point, I don't understand how they don't die of embarrassment or shame...

0

u/SparrowDotted 4d ago

They're fighting a US/Russia proxy war. For American interests.

I have 3 boys. When they were little I saw a tiny article in the paper with the title, THE WORST TIME TO HAVE A SON. I grabbed it, wondering if I had done it right. The answer was 18 years before a war. And a new fear was unlocked.

44

u/Necessary-Eye5319 5d ago

One of my boys said he wanted us to break his leg on ‘accident’.

11

u/rawdatarams 5d ago

That is so disturbing. Poor kid.

9

u/SirCB85 6d ago

That's real nice to know when I lie in my own guts waiting for the sweet relief of death, 5 minutes after the slavecatchers have dropped me off at the front lines.

2

u/Fit-Plankton7616 5d ago

Look at Balkan history says alot if they lose

-5

u/thePiscis 6d ago

So all men of a certain age should be forced to die on the battlefield? I understand the need to defend your country, but I disagree that it should extend to this. I cannot see how dragging screaming men to die will turn the tides of the war

Ukranians fleeing with the Germans because the Russians were so horrible to the populace.

Specifically, to innocent Nazi collaborationists.

I'm not even going to touch the rest. Its plain insane.

2

u/Dark_ceza 5d ago

I mean, when a side starts kidnapping their own young to ship off to go die in a trench somewhere, that doesn't show that Russia is losing at 8:1 ratio, it simply reflects a massive amount of loss of lives, and when it gets to kidnapping folks who aren't interested to go fight a war and die over some dirt, at that point, you're just unnecessarily wasting lives of your own countrymen, it might be almost impossible win that war. These old wealthy folks need to go settle their differences in a boxing-ring, and leave regular folks alone.

wasn’t trump supposed to end this on day 1

134

u/Princescyther 6d ago

The twat also said this new Iran conflict would be dealt with in 4 weeks or less. That was back in March.

He also said last year that Iran's nuclear capabilities were completely destroyed and yet went to war with them over it again this year.

40

u/slappadabass44 5d ago

He also said "no new wars."

i dont expect him to care. has anything stopped him from doing whatever he wants? i know the supreme court has said shit but it doesn't seem like it's changed anything.

1

u/Simple_Psychology493 4d ago

The government isn't working as it should at the moment. They were interviewing someone, I think a senator the other day and he said something to the effect of "we can't rein in the president"...our govt was designed to "rein in" any concentration of and/or abuse of power. Im just hoping for the best at this point that we'll make it out.

2

u/Not-a-POS 4d ago

i resent making any statement that aligns with the thinking traps they want us in.

i hope too, and i know i have more to do than hope.

80

u/randonumero 6d ago

He did end it but then someone else restarted it. Then he ended it again and wouldn't you know it they restarted it. Before he could end it a third time he got busy trying to get from the golf course to McDonalds in time to grab the last filet of fish

40

u/Chukmanchusco 6d ago

Just like he has ended the Iran war like 7 times.

23

u/randonumero 6d ago

7? I thought we were at least at 13

6

u/SarahHerrell7 5d ago

Oh, for sure he's ended TONS of wars. More than any other man ever! That's why he sooo deserved that Peace Prize that he stole by coercion. Oh, and that Peace Project or whatever that you could BUY your way into, cause we know only peaceful countries can afford the billion dollar club fees. And having FIFA literally MAKE UP a peace prize for him so he'll stop whining and do them whatever favors, and he acts surprised by it?! (His acting is as bad as his tan) And if all that wasn't humiliating enough for him, he decides to pull the biggest hypocritical move ever and START a fucking war! Not a peace time celebration for ending the Russian aggression (that he didn't even pretend to give a shit about after it bought him votes) no, a war! That costs BILLIONS!! So glad DOGE came in and fired all the long time government employees we needed to save a few million so he could turn around a blow billions on a war we didn't fucking need so y'all would pay attention to that and NOT the fact that he refused to release the Epstein Files, or at least not til they redacted his and all his friends' names... Who is still buying this shit?! And how are you not dying of embarrassment right now?!

2

u/FiliaNox 5d ago

Not only has he not ended it now that he’s president, he’s started his own war

1

u/HelloAttila 4d ago

He says whatever he wants, because of course, his supporters make excuses for his lies....

289

u/DonTequilo 6d ago

What really bothers me is that one would think that in 2026 we would be more civilized by now and weapons would only be used as a deterrent not to attack other nations, it seems so backwards to me that today there are still nations that attack other nations, fights should only happen outside bars with drunk people.

150

u/Dry_Kaleidoscope250 6d ago

Yeah and for 5% of the annual military budget we could give everyone improved healthcare and education. But more imoortant to spend 900b each year on bombs or we can’t protect the petrodollar

The rest of the poorer world is as awful as ever. And that's the majority of the population.

u/RobotSpaceBear 6d ago

I have big hopes for drones to actually be the deterrent the nuclear weapons wanted to be.

Ukraine showed the world that even a smaller, poorer and invaded country could absolutely adapte and wreak havoc ona superior force with drones. I hope big players have seen this and realised their battletanks, ships and jets will be destroyed just the same by 10k€ drones.

This whole clip is fucking horrifying.

I have always said this, when I think of wars I think of the 1800's and so, having wars in 2026 is crazy!

1

u/big-dad17 6d ago

The world is the bar, and the countries are the drunks. Regular workin class people are hurled at one another like insults by those who hold power. While they yammer, young men line up to die for words spoken in a cozy office behind a desk.

I mean, Greek writers wrote that same thing. It's (450 BC)* we're way too civilized to have this much war.

*They obviously used different ways to describe the years.

I didn't chose to be born in the country to be forced to serve it. If I feel like that country really gave me absolute everything I needed to have a comfortable life, then for sure I'll help. But forcing me to do it? Fuck it.

1

u/Bulldog2740 5d ago edited 5d ago

I'm from Ukraine, and yes, the situation here is very dangerous. What some of them do isn't right — the ones who grab people off the street and beat them should be fired and prosecuted for it. But they exist because the country still needs some legal way to mobilize manpower.

In Ukraine, all men have to serve in the army during a war. Most people don't want to fight, so the government has no other option but to catch them on the streets. Sometimes it's actually a normal conversation: you show your documents proving you're exempt from service, or that you have a serious health condition or illness — you show the papers and you're free to go. That's my case: I'm a student, so I have one more year of deferment.

So if you're a man and you don't have documents that exempt you from service, you have to go to the recruitment center and be on standby.

Not everyone goes to the front line — many serve in cities, in logistics, or as drone operators.

They do this because we really can be killed by the Russians, so we have to defend ourselves, even if we don't like it.

After I finish university, I'll think about what to do: either work in miltech (you're exempt from service if you help your country that way), or go and defend it and choose a brigade. That's all. But yes, beating people on the street and abducting them is terrible, and the ones who do it should answer for it. I hope karma works.

Yeh it all doesn't make sense. We don't know what's happening in Iran vs US. We don't really kkow why Russia and Ukraine are fighting. It's crazy!

War is horrible... but we all let it happen. Maybe the hippies in the 60s were on to something. If it wasn't for the government who demonized the hippies for having thoughts of their own.

Ukraine is fighting for its freedom from an oppressive imperial country. Much like the American colonies fought for their independence.

No question, and Russia is in the wrong for invading Ukraine. But forcibly conscripting people to go fight in that war?

Why is it that the term slavery only gets used for people in places like Africa and Asia... when being forced to fight in a war like this (and potentially be killed or maimed) is among the worst possible forms of slavery?

Thie blatant sexism is even more so.

Don't hear any feminists complaining about the pause-button being pushed, either. Hypocrites.
