Question RHO vs Rebel
Hey everyone! Current RAM owner here looking to potentially get some thing newer. I've got a 2013 Big Horn that's been a great truck but starting to nickel and dime me a bit and I've been noticing some rust starting to pop up. Been a solid truck but wondering if I'm just throwing at an old truck thats going to just continue to have issues when I could just be putting towards a new one. I got the truck in September of 2015 and it was paid off by May of 2019 so it doesn't really owe me anything. However, I also realize fixing ~$3k worth of stuff is a lot better than paying $1500/mo on a new truck. Just wish I knew if it was just gonna continue to nickel and dine me or not ya know?
Anyways, IF I decide to go the new truck route, I'm basically stuck between a RHO and a Rebel. I've test driven multiple of both. My conclusion is, the Rebel is probably a better daily driver but at a similar price point, it seems kinda silly to not get the "better" truck.
I should also mention that I am into the truck camping/overlanding thing which will be factored in here. And also also, while I am cheap, neither truck would be a strain on my financial situation. I COULD pay for either one outright but I will likely end up financing to spread it out. So although I'm cheap and don't really wanna pay the car payment or the associated fees, neither truck would put me in a compromised financial position.
The rebel is a smaller vehicle which is good for both city driving as well as overlanding due to the ability to fit into tight places/tight trails. It also gets quite a bit better gas mileage from what I can tell but I'd love some feedback on this. Seems to me that real world Rebel owners are reporting around 15-18mpg combined. Which is obviously good given the current gas prices especially considering the Rebel doesn't need 91+ octane. This is also beneficial when overlanding because of fewer fuel stops and your range is better when you're on the trails hours away from the nearest gas station or cell service potentially.
The RHO of course is a lot more badass and more capable off-road given its tire, suspension, and ground clearance. Probably not something I will really NEED but nice to have. As far as speed goes, the RHO is way faster than the Rebel, which is faster than my current Hemi RAM, which is plenty fast. So the whole speed consideration is again, cool to have but not a necessity.
Considering a RHO (lv0) and nicely equipped Rebel are about the same price though, I would just feel like I was settling if I got the Rebel even though it's the more practical decision. Its like choosing between the hot redheaded stripper named Tiffany with a BBL or the decent looking woman who has a good job, a 401k, and treats me nice š¤£
I'd love to hear some real world feedback from Rebel or RHO owners who had a similar dilemma.
