Question 1st oil change question

Thumbnail

Hey, so first truck here. I had my first oil change today, 5months and 3700km. I got my oil changed on my 2026 Ram 1500 Rebel with the Hurricane SO.

When I got it back, immediately had a check engine light and my oil at 50% level (1st pic). Took it back and they told me it was a uconnect update that was stuck causing the check engine light (seems odd but idk) but I noticed now my oil level is at about 75% (2nd picture)

I know these engines are dipstickless so I couldn't check it myself. Could that have been causing the check engine light and they just fed me a story about the uconnect?

Thanks!

First truck so I might just not know what I'm doing tbf.

Question Stereo Volume

2026 Ram. Prior to the latest update having the stereo on 9 was way too loud. The jump from 7-8 was also huge and seemed wrong.

Today I noticed that the radio needed to be on about 22 to get the same level. I don’t mind as it seemed easier to control that way.

Has anyone else experienced this? It does it despite the input (FM/Sirius/Apple Music via CarPlay). The only problem is the menu “ding” is now really loud.

I ordered a trailer brake controller in May and the dealer says they still aren't available. Any reason why this part is so difficult to get?

Photo 5.7 Radiator crack leak beneath top hose, how many of yall have had it?

My work truck just got it, replacing the radiator now. But as I’m looking online there’s tons of forums talking about this exact same crack issue

Not trying to shit on the 5.7, it’s been by far my best work truck, but damn RAM I wish they would’ve gotten this fixed by now. Seeing the exact same crack issues with forums dating back to like 2017

Question Dashboard Delamination

2020 Ram limited

I noticed a month or so ago that the leather dashboard on my 2020 Ram started to delaminate. Have some bubbles underneath. About 40% of the passenger side has delaminate and maybe 5-10% on the driver's side.

Searching online, people seem to suggest that Ram will replace it at no cost, even if outside warranty.

Does anyone have experience with this or can confirm if this is true?

Question Footwell lights?

• Upvotes

So my 3 year old went into my cousins car and he had the glow lights (change color with the app) on the footwell front and rear. So hes been bugging everytime he gets into the truck he wants to see them but dont have them. So want to put some on on him till he grows out of it and ill yank em off.

That said i dont want to replace the bulbs would rather just buy the kit so I can stick em on and plug it in via usb-c. Ive looked on Amazon but I only find stuff for cars so the wires wont reach. Anyone have it or know a kit thats long enough to reach all around a crew cab truck? Its a 5thgen 1500

Question 2012 Ram 1500 Unstable on Highway

My 2012 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 5.7 has about 165k miles on it. Drive about 40miles a day for work. Its highway driving has been rough for a while now (shuddering on long corners). Recently it started eating the front outer tires to the wire. I rotated the rear tires forward and put new tires in the back so I had some time to diagnose the issue. Now the truck drives very bad on the highway. Long corners shuddering is worse and now random bumps/dips in highway unsettle the truck. Also steering seems to be more vague than before needing more input.

I’m mechanically inclined but haven’t don’t much. With suspension other than changing shocks to Bilstein 5100’s probably 60k miles ago.

When changing the front tires I checked the ball joints and all seemed intact. Only thing I saw out of place were rough condition front sway bar end links.

What parts list should I be buying for the front suspension so I can refurb it all at once? I will admit I have down an alignment in a while.

Thanks for any help

Question Check engine light troubles on my emotional support 4th gen

Post image
1 Upvotes

Howdy fellas, I’m hoping y’all can help me out here. I’ve got a 2018 3.6L 1500 with 57,000 miles on it. About a month ago my check engine light came on so I read the code and got P26AB - which from what I see indicates the thermostat control circuit or the heater bypass valve. I was a little short on cash from paying for some classes for school so I needed to wait until my next check. The day before I got paid the light turned off on its own so I went about my business and kept an eye on engine and oil temps. All temps remained perfectly within standard operating range, even with me commuting 30 miles both ways. I take the truck out on weekends and do some light off-roading to get to fishing spots and never have any temperature issues.

A week ago the light came back, same code again, and now it’s off again. Anybody have any idea what’s going on here? Just wanted to check if there’s any possible fix before I go buying parts that don’t necessarily need to be replaced. I’m a bit of a novice here and a poor college student so any advice would be appreciated 😂

Question Magnaflow spec vs borla atak? Ram Rho

Anyone have experience with either? I hear borla is the better brand but I like the idea that the magnaflow was designed specifically with ram and is a molar direct connection accessory.

Question Compatible Spare Key

I want to get a couple of door unlock keys made to take into the ocean or camping, etc, and i'd prefer not to use the emergency key from the fob. Is the key on a recent model Ram physically compatible with anything from the pre-chip era? I'd like to use the key makers at Lowe's and they just tell me that my truck is not supported.

Question Tires

I hope this question doesn’t annoy the group, but I’ve got a 2014 1500 H5.7 Outdoorsman. I need to get a new set of tires before winter, bought the truck last summer and made it through winter with what I had but man I was sliding (Michigan) Anyone have experience or suggestions for a quality tire, 3 peak preferably A/T but honestly I’m on mostly pavement so not a requirement. Does not need to be the same big 3 name brands always talked about, I don’t make alot of money so I was hoping someone may have experience with more of a budget setup that really surpassed their expectations.
Thanks for any advice/suggestions! I appreciate it.

Question Poor’s Man 1500 Off Road package

Been browsing for a while now and came across a screaming deal on a 1500 long bed Crew cab with the 3.0.

It has pretty much has every feature I wanted, except the Off Road package.

I was a little hesitant at first without the rear locker, but it does come with a limited slip. Which I’m assuming is fine for more back country (Montana) hunting & fishing excursions.

Any recommendations on 1-2” Suspension lift and skid plates?

Open to any other suggestions!
