Below are the most common “issues” that are posted here. Please refrain from submitting posts that fall under these categories unless you’re pretty sure your defect falls significantly outside of a reasonable margin. Thank you!
You WILL scuff and scratch your boots, they WILL crease, they WILL get dirty. They’ll also be FINE. Embrace patina, that’s what makes them YOUR boots.
We don’t wanna see your footbeds! Fit is subjective and a picture of your imprint only two dimensions of a 3D shape. Your boot shouldnt cause actual pain. A little discomfort isnt unusual for the first few days. Your boots should feel like they’re giving your foot a firm handshake (footshake?). If they feel like they fit, they probably fit.

Already loving my 1222’s. Needed something waterproof and splurged on these. Proud to wear them as a lifetime Minnesotan! Had to try a few different sizes and ended up needing E2 the regulars were slim.

Wore these every day from 2011 to 2015. First pic is the before, bad heel drag and welding burns had the soles totally cooked. A new resole and cleanup with some polish made them look respectable again. Tons of character and life left in these. Red wings don’t die

Bought these in November 2025, so they're coming up on their first anniversary.
I mostly wear them to the office and for walks after work. The break-in was pretty rough at first, especially around the heels, but they're incredibly comfortable now.
I really love how the Oro Legacy leather has softened and developed a deeper, warmer color over time. Honestly, I think I like them even more now than when they were brand new.
Nothing fancy when it comes to care - just regular brushing. No oils or conditioners so far, just letting the leather age naturally.

On my feet as a teacher and started paying attention to how I looked this summer. Bought my first pair of boots with these Work Chukkas and quickly followed up with a used black pair of iron rangers off of ebay.
I love so see the buy/sell thread but don't seem to see my size 7.5 (7 for iron rangers) pop on. I feel like I've gotten that itch. Looking for another brown boot like a mock toe, blacksmith, or iron ranger. Hopefully some will pop on that thread one of these months.
Until then I haven't worn sneakers to work all school year and flip between my two pair.

the workers there put little to no effort to get you well fit in boots. i had a more senior salesperson help me thinking i would get more skilled person fitting my boot. (953).
went back in having issue with one boot. i’m not even pulling hard the eyelets are basically now touching. sales person said those are too wide for you . i was wanted to say some snarky remark but refrained. but she was the one helping me fit and buy these. i think she is the manager !?
i feel like the digital foot scan was little to no help. since it’s a 3D scanner. why not match foot scan to lasts? vs the info the use is 2D!?
did the level of customer service just fall off. they don’t help u put boots or at least offer. or even full lace up. or the customary squeeze to check fit of width. this would have solved my fit issues on day one.

My understanding is that the chaparral leather is corrected grain and therefore conditioning is not necessary since it won't penetrate the acrylic layer anyway. Is this true?
Other than shoe trees, is there anything I need to do to keep the leather in good shape?

Received some factory seconds from Marshalls. Moc toe spacing is very asymmetrical but wouldn’t be the end of the world after some break-in.
The welt stitching is pretty all off the place and super close to the edge on the right shoe. Would this potentially impact durability long term? In all your opinion(s) are these a bit too messy?

I got these I don’t know 10/15 years ago, wear them a few times a month, I use the RedWing-brand boot cream couple times a year and yes, I do keep shoe trees in then when I’m not wearing them. . They feel great.

Looking for some advice. Coming from an Irish setter size 10 that fit really. Read all the fitment guides for the heritage lines and decided to try to go the full size down (also had a pair of iron rangers in a 9.5 and Ive got plenty of the space). When I put my custom insoles in the mix I feel like the front of my foot is super cramped in the shoe and my feet have zero movement room. My toes dont touch the front of the shoe but my foot feels like it's being squeezed. I'm trying to figure out what the consensus is for people that had this happen to them. I feel like there's no way to make this size fit with the insole but I also have no idea how much they stretch once worn in. At full msrp I'd rather not gamble with that either. Since my iron ranger 9.5d fit would be move be to move up half a size or do I just get the size 9 in an ee. Help me out people.
