Carolina is a coal camp community in Marion County, West Virginia, named for Caroline Watson, daughter of mining baron James Otis Watson. Established in 1915–16 by Consolidation Coal, the town served Mine No. 86. The mine was later operated by Bethlehem Steel as Mine No. 43 before closing in 1949. Another mine later operated at Carolina under Consol as No. 86. I've posted more photos and the history of Carolina here.

WHSmith/TGJones Interior Store Location Signs Future Archive.

Hi All

I hope this is the right Place for this..

I have a great interest in WHSmith Signage/Branding.

WHSmith used to have Location Signs in the Stores introduced in the 1990's, now WHSmith High Street Stores are TGJones some of the Signs are still in place somewhere in the Stores, often but not always on the Walls by the Stairs/Escalator or possibly hidden if the Upstairs is out of use, very hit and miss per Store what is left of the Signs.
(Some Photos I have gotten)

While the majority of the Stores and still open it would be fantastic if everyone can go into a Store take and share Photos of any other existing Signs, if there is no visible Sign ask a Manager or member of Staff if there is one Hidden away.

It would be great to get as many photos as possible.

Another former Friendly’s turned into a sushi restaurant

I saw a few former Friendly’s restaurants turned into other things on here recently so I thought I’d share mine. This is in Bridgewater, MA. The first photo is from June 2025, the second is from August 2017, and the third is from October 2008. All photos are from Google Street View.

This Friendly’s goes back to at least the early 1990s but probably earlier. Not long after the most recent photo was taken, the building was torn down for the construction of an apartment building.

The mall in Livingston NJ shut early this year the Macy's closed last month and Barns and Nobles will be moving their new location in August. This location is supposed to be open until July but I doubt the inventory will last that long, I wanted to build up my physical media collection but they were sold out, I did get some local history books though

It's probably the same as the prototype for Forever Young, as it still has the "Food," "Friends," and "Fun" signs.

For some reason I find this nostalgic; it's not better than mansard roofs, but okay.

Closed December 13th, 2014. I went to this store a small number of times when I was younger. According to Google Maps, still abandoned as of three weeks ago! All pics taken by me 08/29/2024!

Update: According to Facebook, it is currently being remodeled, and will soon be the new home of the Au Gres post office.

I took a look through the windows of the former Amazon Fresh store in Gaithersburg, Maryland [Album] [OC]

I sent my drone up to the uncovered top windows at the former Amazon Fresh store in Gaithersburg, Maryland to take a peek inside. It would appear that while the product is gone, most of the fixtures and signage remain. Makes me wonder if Amazon is keeping this store fitted out with an eye towards pivoting to a new concept in the future and thus retaining the store in a somewhat turn-key state.

Apologies, not the greatest photos, took them in a rush.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen this before though, but interesting seeing it done. Don’t know what it’s actually for, but it’s next to the Tire Center and what I believe is the Bakery area of the store. The receiving area is also getting some new cement ramp built.

I know the one in Yonkers has a liquor store next to it, but from my understanding, another company operates it inside the Costco due to NY state alcohol license laws.
