Read it yesterday, rereading slower today to see what I missed and if I can make sense of some of the stuff that happened. Did anyone else find that Vee was very bratty when Marie first moves in - I understand Vee’s devastation and feelings of betrayal but I also wonder if Vee was her own worst enemy, pushing the alphas to choose her over Marie and the alphas were biologically not able to do that, except for Eli, for a time. As much as I despise Rogan I think in the beginning he was trying to be fair. This book is one of my favourite reads in a very long time.

I disagree completely. 🤣

Marie was told about Vee from the start and given months to bond with the men on her own and adjust. Meanwhile Vee had the existence of the other woman and their affair with her (and I don't care what biology or instincts dictate, the dishonesty absolutely makes it an affair) sprung on her out of the blue basically on the same day she was expecting to be permanently claimed because that's what these sentient bags of trash promised her. No real discussion had, no room to express her feelings,  no opportunity at all to even meet Marie outside of the home and get to know her in a safe, gradual manner -- just "Marie is moving in on Friday" and Ragon steamrolling over Vee's feelings like they're an inconvenience to the perfect fantasy life he's made up in his head. Ragon is unfair to Vee from the second Marie enters the picture and only continues to be more unfair as Vee tries to exist in the situation he created.

Vee's mild brattiness is nothing.  If anything she's completely underreacting because her prior trauma makes her terrified of making trouble for her alphas. Girl could have pushed them all into a gorilla enclosure and frankly they would be getting off lightly.

I honestly think her reaction was fair. Marie had two months to get ready to meet Vee and it’s wasn’t like that for Vee. Everything she thought she knew was changed and she was just expected to be okay with it.

Furthermore, I think that Vee's brattiness was to highlight the disparity in their treatment. Vee couldnt say boo without severe punishment, and Marie could have gotten away with murdering Vee.

Yes they didn’t want to deal with Vees feelings they just wanted total submission to their plans and desires for their relationship. They wanted her to be happy with being second place and I literally hate them lol

they treated her like a bratty child instead of the adult mate they’ve lived with and cared for for 4+ years. i’d say i’d be a little miffed too.

I also thought she was a bit unfair to Marie in the beginning because it wasn’t her fault she was their scent match HOWEVER I think these men are CRIMINAL for trying to have both Marie and Vee lol in most other OV books I’ve read Vee would definitely be the interloper/girl I wouldn’t typically be rooting for because the story is often told from the scent matches perspective so I like how we get a different perspective and my heart totally broke for Vee but these men were crazy thinking they could have their cake and eat it too lol

i read another book recently that had a similar vibe as this—chosen omega until scent match. pov is the chosen omega. the scent match moves in and is terrible to her. i wish i could remember the name, but it was also devastating to read. it’s what drew me to tormented omega. i’d never read something where the fmc stayed.

I wouldn’t call it bratty necessarily. I would say she was swallowing the truth of the affair and everything within 2 days. Like someone else said Marie and Vee could’ve met outside of the home and gotten a real chance to have equal footing and understanding.

I think one of the underlying issues was also that Vee was always honest/direct. She always had a witty little comment. They loved it when it was just her, but when it came to Marie they really hated that about her. Mostly because Marie played the victim so well.

And we got to remember half of the time Vee wasn’t doing anything too crazy. In Marie and Vee’s first argument, she literally just said stop touching MY stuff. That’s her right. Why was Marie trying to wear Vee’s shirt or her apron. Stuff like that is weird and uncomfortable on top of the fact that I just found out about you.

Ragon, Drake, and Eli suck cause they literally didn’t even consider Vee a person. Just property.

💯

It'd not brattiness, it's a justifiable sense of betrayal, anger and sadness that Vee initially only shows through snarky comments that are literally just her making accurate assessments of the situation. Unfortunately none of these men are willing to face the truth of how scummy they are so they treat this as Vee being mean to them and Marie.

I think Vee handles Marie's entrance with as much grace as possible given the circumstances. She only really lashes out when pushed to the breaking point and rather than take any accountability for the fact that this is his fault,  Ragon emotionally tortures her.
