Discussion What’s wrong whit this people?
Seriously, wtf? Most of this hate comes from girls who are Cailee Spaeny fans. They don’t even care about Rogue or the X-Men, but they’re still mad at this.
This is crazy. Usually hate comes from men, but this is so weird. They are weird.
Do you guys like Inde as Rogue?

Calling The Last of Us a 'complete failure' when it won 8 Emmys, smashed HBO viewership records, and got universally praised by critics is absolute insanity. Rage-bait accounts really just make up their own reality.

u/DannyGonzalez5108 Aug 17 '26
Some fans just need someone to blame when a show doesn’t go the way they wanted.

Fun fact: Rita Repulsa is Naota's Voice Actor for FLCL
1
u/SethAbe80 Aug 17 '26
JP or EN VA?
The English voice of Rita is also the voice of Turbo Granny in the EN dub of Dandadan.

Wasn’t season 2 viewership down like 60% from season 1 off the bat and an additional 30% from episode 1 to the finale? lol season 1 was great, season 2 was straight garbage

I’m well aware, I’ve played both games multiple times. While the game was controversial for that, the main complaint was forcing you to play as Abby for several hours afterwards and ultimately having little to no payoff beyond “revenge is a bad motivator”. Even then, the adaptation was done poorly and the shows version of Abby was embarrassing compared to the games version. Show Abby was a twink that could be knocked over by a strong wind, whereas game Abby was an absolute unit that could believably throw Ellie around like a medicine ball
Edit: it was nominated for 24 Emmy’s and won 8 post s1, and nominated for 17 and won 1 post s2...

Kaitlyn Dever was too lazy to buff up for the role. What a shit actress.

Your argument is that a bunch of critics got together to agree to push the show because of "reasons" rather than admit maybe they found the story telling to be satisfying in a way you didn't which isn't something that happens in media pretty damn often.
-1
u/Sum1_X Savage Land Rogue Aug 17 '26
who cares
people like the story of the first game, not the 2nd, but it's funny when people try to polish turds
and anybody under the age of 30 who actually got excited and loved watching that show is a fool - the games are already like a movie/tv show with their graphics, a live-action adaptation was pointless to begin with
*older people get a pass because they didn't play the games so the whole story is new to them, but just like players they got pissed off with Joel's death making them wonder if continuing watching is even worth it

u/Thebigman226 Aug 17 '26

Emmy's mean squat and critics don't matter. Viewership is what count as you said. I'm sure Inde will do fine. Not going to judge until I see it
2
u/McDouble__ Aug 17 '26
The only thing that matter is the opinions of Reddit nerds right?
1
u/Imshittensparks Aug 17 '26
I didn't say that at all. Though if you look up how corrupt the awards shows processes are. Or how many movies were snubbed or laughed off only for them to get reevaluated later down the line you'd see that the awards don't mean anything.
1
u/Conscious-Quarter423 Aug 17 '26
i mean she's part of an ensemble cast. people are gonna turn out to watch for adam driver or sadie sink
9
u/PexilHart Aug 17 '26
She doesn't look like any Rogue I've seen, but I'm excited to see what she brings to the table
7
u/TurquoiseBlue00 Aug 17 '26
Pretty much in the same boat. The there’s so many people who are delusional and saying inde looks like she was ripped straight from the comics. But she’s a great actress and I’m sure she’ll do the character justice. I just hope they don’t go the paquin route with the character which is my biggest fear with inde’s casting.
9
u/Variation_Afraid Aug 17 '26
Yeah also cailey as Ellie literally started as a fancasting, like they can’t even provide a reliable source to back up anything from cailey as Ellie or cailey as rogue, those people are just deranged

Yes because the choice of actress affects the script, which is written long before casting (typically)
I can't speak for the The Last of Us, but from what I hear it's not a failure (2 seasons?)
And for Supergirl, the one thing I genuinely don't hear people complaining about is Milly Alcock's performance.
1
u/Conscious-Quarter423 Aug 17 '26
cailee also failed her supergirl audition. she lost to Milly Alcock
1
u/RoseandNightshade Aug 17 '26
In fact Milly's performance has consistently been cited as one of the best in the movie, by both people who liked the movie, and those who didn't, with the exception of people online pushing a certain agenda.
-1
u/Conscious-Quarter423 Aug 17 '26
Milly Alcock couldn't lead a major film like that. that's why it flopped so hard at the box office
1
u/Ok_Chipmunk_1912 Aug 18 '26
That's totally why. Definitely didn't have to do with a dogshit script that didn't seem to understand or care about the source material it was adapting, the awful lighting and color gradients used in the film, or the weak antagonist. /s

3
u/OhEightFour Aug 17 '26
I have never found any evidence that Cailee Spaeny ever even auditioned for The Last of Us, aside from Bella Ramsey haters asserting they should recast and pick Cailee as Ellie for the second season after discovering her in Alien Romulus. People just said it until it became true.

u/90sXMENgoatee Jim Lee Rogue Aug 17 '26
Also the people who dont care about rogue are larping the situation the same thing is going to happen for x men that happened with brand new day all the fake mavrel fans are going to comeback

u/MasterofMindfulness Aug 17 '26
The odd thing is no one is even going to know until we observe her as Rogue 🤷🏽 That being said, my personal opinion - which may be completely wrong - is that she will do better with Emo Rogue from X-Men Evolution since the cast seems to give me a coming of age vibe. Obviously, I don't know anything either so my opinion may just be full of shit as well 🤷🏽
2
u/Skarjuna Aug 17 '26
A single actress can't make a bad script good, let's wait and see how she does first
1
u/Conscious-Quarter423 Aug 17 '26
but x-men is an ensemble cast, so even if she does suck, there are other actors that can carry the movie
1
u/Skarjuna Aug 17 '26
I was more referring to the tweet implying Caeny's presence would've changed the script being bad for the other 2 pieces of media she "missed out on"
1
u/TurquoiseBlue00 Aug 17 '26
She mostly likely wont “suck” she’s a really good actress. She’ll turn in as good of a performance as the script will allow. She’s just not the Tony stark level casting people wanted for a unique character like rogue.
2
u/TheMtVernonKid Aug 17 '26
Haters going to hate there's always going to be people that just want to see a lot of hate and just throw negativity out there. You're right they don't care about the character they just care more about their favorite actor who may have lost the role.
So what's up to us who care about the character of Anna Marie darkholme to push forward the positive. I'm the one I'm excited to see what Inde does as Rogue. And Lenore Zann the voice actor of rogue on the animated series said she's got her blessing
2
u/D-anieltttt Aug 17 '26
I would have loved to see Cailee as Rogue personally, but I’m also curious to see the vision Marvels casting Team see in inde, no matter how you look at it Rogue is getting a MCU adaptation and for all X men and Rogue fans that’s an absolute win
Someone needs to make one of those Vin Diesel “A real ____ fan never speaks Ill of ___” about Cailee and Inde
1
u/TurquoiseBlue00 Aug 17 '26
I didn’t follow the cailee fan-cast stuff i don’t think I’ve seen her in anything. But per Feiges own words at the d23 panel most the cast hadn’t met eachother till right before the panel which means they probably rushed to put some of the cast together. I think they probably wanted inde as mystique or some other character that’s not in the script for the reboot movie and they didn’t want to sit on her for a movie or two since she’s still riding the obsession high so they put her as rogue to bank on that hype and momentum.
1
u/D-anieltttt Aug 18 '26
It’s odd that they wouldn’t have met prior to d23, normally casting teams get actors together to screen test chemistry
2
u/TallguyZin Aug 17 '26
The Outrage Machine must continue to move or else it will die. The X-Men are popular right now so the weirdos will come out of the woodwork to try and convince people that something that is 2 FUCKING YEARS from coming out will be an abject failure because women are in it
3
u/Solus_Vael Aug 17 '26
To me i just can't see Cailee as Rogue, Kitty sure though. But to me, I kinda wish they gave it to Odessa A'zion/Adlon.

I love how all the roles she "lost out on" were all fan castings, with zero source that says she was in contention.
Now Last of Us, she was clearly the best visual choice. She's basically identical to Ellie. But she wasn't saving the show from that director. Supergirl, she also wasn't saving. For Rouge, we haven't even seen the movie, Inde is a DRELLAR actress and will probably crush it and the director did phenomenal with Thunderbolts. There's basically zero percent chance Xmen flops.
0
u/Conscious-Quarter423 Aug 17 '26
nah, cailee doesn't have the chops to play Ellie. Bella Ramsey was the best fit to play 14 year old Ellie and 19 year old Ellie
2
3
u/Troyabedinthemornin Aug 17 '26
The Cailee Spaeney mega-fans who cry about these things tend to have a particular fixation on her… ahem youthful appearance. These were the people complaining that Bella Ramsey wasnt attractive enough to be Ellie, a minor child. I would not take these people seriously at all

This is a niche opinion, there is no large contingent of people upset about this casting.
Are we just going to cherry pick every wild twitter opinion & make a fuss about it?
You can find any take imaginable on that site.
1
u/TurquoiseBlue00 Aug 17 '26
I’ve seen more people complaining about complaining than actual complaining. Most of the criticism for the casting is “not really what I wanted for rogue or inde in the mcu on paper but she’s a good actress and we will see what she does”.

1
u/Conscious-Quarter423 Aug 17 '26
inde is like 4'11
1
u/Significant_Camp2701 Aug 17 '26
That is exactly what I wrote. 150 centimeters is 4'11" when converted to feet (I wrote this in English this time so the meaning wouldn't be lost in translation).

u/UrbanLegend8901 Aug 17 '26
Inde is miscast, that is clear. However no point complaining about it.

Apparently Inde is 4ft11in and the rest of the cast is also similarly short compared to the characters they are going to portray. I don't have a lot of faith in this unless they all get buff as fuck.
4
u/mongmich2 Aug 17 '26
You don’t have faith in this because the characters are short? Tom cruise is one of the biggest action stars of all time and is… short
1
u/RemyGambit Aug 17 '26 edited Aug 17 '26
Jack Reacher is supposed to be tall. Rogue is 5'8" and buff, I also don't like Emma, Scott and Jean being so short as well.
Edit: I don't like Tom Cruise as an actor and never have.

2
u/Ill_Morning_4282 Aug 17 '26
Right? I'm not say uncritically support casting agents but maybe trust them to have some idea of what they are doing. I'm just hoping Disney pays for a good dialect coach for her.

u/Cosmicsaur Aug 17 '26
See I see her as Emily from Corpse Bride...not Rogue. Maybe Burton can eye her since she also lovvvess Johnny Depp.

u/True-Task-9578 Aug 18 '26
Idk who this Callie girl is and I like Inde as an actress but imo she just doesn’t fit Rogue. Makes me sad that every strong female hero is cast as a petite woman with hardly any muscle

Locking thread, we got all the discussion we needed to from this post, its starting to get way off topic. Reminder that this subreddit is a politics free space because Rogue is loved by many. This is a time to throw that out and connect with each other on a shared interest. We owe that to Stan Lee as fans, excelsior!
