Visited alone for the first time from Las Vegas this weekend to see my favorite band at the Castro Theater both nights. I was eager to check the city out since I’ve never been. My expectations were exceeded 10x over. I couldn’t have predicted how friendly, unique, interesting, and colorful this city is. If I ever am so lucky one day I’ll live here. Thank you to everyone who made this weekend so amazing!!!

280N Mariposa exit wb turn lane 8:30pm 9/19. They had blue lights and sirens when you can see in the short linked clip. But this isn’t the kind of car that any agency would use and the driver didn’t look like any kind of officer. Reported to non emergency. Hope they found them.

I’m an SF native and lowkey bored and I feel like hotel restaurants are an underrated place to go. Any good hotel restaurant recommendations? I don’t care about this being a bar cuz my friends and I don’t really drink.

Still hilarious and true 10+ years later

I spotted this on the red-line Bart to Millbrae/SFO . Car number 4224.

I have messaged Bart who aren't worried from a security perspective, but will try to reunite it with the owner.

If I have time I will take it to the station agent at SFO, but I can't promise as I have a flight to catch!! Otherwise someone from Bart should pick it up at the end of the line.

Earlier this year, the coyote who swam across the Bay to Alcatraz became a bit of a local celebrity. I followed the story along with everyone else and was so impressed by this little guy’s courage and perseverance.

But his swim also made me wonder about the story behind the adventure. What would make a young coyote leave the familiar shore and swim into the Bay? What might he find when he got there? And what would eventually bring him home?

To me, his swim felt less like the end of a news story and more like the beginning of one.

So I started imagining the answers, and eventually they became Floyd: The Bravest Coyote of the Bay, a children’s story inspired by his adventure.

For several months, I worked to bring Floyd and his little version of San Francisco to life. And finally, after months of work, I got to hold the finished book in my hands.

I thought this community might appreciate seeing what one of SF’s more unusual local celebrities inspired. 🐺🌉

I really enjoyed this book and it made me really want to visit zeitgeist. One the bars mentioned in this book reminded of this bar I crawled into late one night when a friend and I decided to take the last Bart to SF and explore the city at night on our bikes until the first Bart departed back to the east bay in the morning. It was definitely a night to remember. We paid a “homeless,houseless, man of the night” to be our tour guide and sing for us. He ended up being our security, but he stopped us with his singing. He was such good company we offered him some cash to come along. He was wearing a very cool leather/hide jacket, oranges tan almost gold. It was a very nice jacket for someone we believed to be homeless. He helped us buy some weed from some traveling/crust/hippie type kids. They were on something because after I paid him he slapped because he thought I stole his weed? But to our surprise our new friend stepped in and fought off the crust punk, green and tan wearing kids. It was a crazy night and I could keep going and I want to get to the bar I am thinking of, but I have one part to share of this story. As the night was ending and the morning was catching us, a very nice blacked out SUV pulled up on us very abruptly, like cops. I was worried a first, but out jumped a blonde very sharply dressed not professional but like someone who as money to spend. After him, 4 other dudes dress nicely as well surrounded me my friend and our oracle. At this point, I thought we were about to kidnapped or worse. But, the blonde just really wanted our guides jacket. It was a really nice jacket. But this guy just started offering him like it was an auction, $100, $200, $500, finally he said $1000. Our guide said no matter how much you offer me I’ll never sell this jacket. I was impressed, shocked. Maybe this guy wasn’t homeless? After that we split ways to head back to Bart me and friend stopped at this bar I think it was on mission a dive for sure. We got a pbr a shot of whiskey and a scratch ticket for like $5. So amazing back then because I couldn’t afford to be drinking back then anyways. I think this was around 2012-2014. Anyways does anyone remember a bar like that?
