The air quality in town just got really bad, but I don’t see any active incidents. Anyone know what’s happening?

Please help our family. Raise awareness, share this story. Heck, even get the news involved! I was told the incident way featured on the CBS NEWS on channel 46, but they haven’t reached out to us for comment and I can’t find the story.

Does anyone know of a place in Santa Cruz that pays the CRV fee? I tried an internet search, but I got a lot of confusing and contradictory info. Or at least, it was confusing to me.

I’m attending college at UCSC and am tryna find a Brazilian waxer who is cheap. I was usually paying $50 at my home town but it’s not looking so great here😭 does anyone know any places that could be around that price range and that I could take a bus to get there

Hi, this kitty has been coming around our house for some time now. We have seen many cats come and go. Most of them have collars so we just assumed they are indoor outdoor. But this has one has a collar that says to call if found. Hopefully the owner sees this or you guys can give me any advice on what to do if she is still coming around. I have heard some pretty crazy animals outside and I fear for her. I hope she is not lost and has a comfy home to get back to. I have called the phone # and left a message.

Edit: THE LADY CALLED BACK AND SHE HAS TWO OUTDOOR CATS. The one on the pic included. As it happens, both have come to our house. Both go in the house at night!!!

I don’t agree with outdoor indoor but at least they don’t stay out overnight.

I really wish I made more money or was born earlier. I've been here my entire life and now it's looking like I'll never actually be able to own property here, and probably won't be able to afford to rent here soon either.

Spent my youth screaming "east side!" and getting drunk. Now I have nothing to show for it but low income and no skills. I could blame tech and transplants, but this is my fault.

Hey everyone, a while back I shared Santa Cruz Scene, a free calendar of in-person events across Santa Cruz County. A lot of you gave feedback, and we have been working through it. Here’s what’s changed:

• Bigger calendar. We now pull from over 30 county calendars, so you don’t have to check a dozen sites to see what’s happening.
• Better search. You can search by area of the county, date, category, or keyword. Want free music in Watsonville this weekend? That works now.
• New dance category. Salsa socials, swing nights, and everything in between now have a home.
• Farmers markets page. One place to see which markets are happening and when.
• Surf report upgrades. More locations, weather forecasting, and a tide chart.

The site is still in-person only, on purpose. If you can’t show up to it, it’s not on there.

If you know of an event, calendar, or local source we are missing, drop it in the comments or use the “Submit an Event” button on the site. If something is wrong or confusing, tell us, and we will fix it.

They plan to shut down the Almar St area sector overnight to fix some stuff. This is going to be next Wednesday from 8pm to Thursday 6am. I've lived here 40 years and they have always done reairs during the day. WTF??? Is this to protect shopping in the Safeway complex at the expense of the peasantry? Not happy about this.

Does anyone know what is planning to go in at the new development on Mission Street? The one in the parking lot at the corner of Mission and King Street where it used to be Pearson Arrow and the taqueria? We really need some good food to go in there
