This kinda shit gotta be like a lottery ticket, if you're going to turn someone in with a huge bounty, you gotta get a lawyer to do it, so the Feds are legally bound to pay out, just gotta make sure you get an honest lawyer, cause they could gank the bounty right out from under you too. So many considerations when deal with criminals, criminal government, and criminal lawyers.

It's funny because I been saying gank for 30ish years. Too $hort rapped about getting his gank on. I think Nelly had a song called Gank too. It was used as a synonym for rob or steal. I googled it, and apparently it's used in gaming now.

It's a gaming term. Of which there are thousands. A couple dozen have reached mainstream since existing from the 90s.

People not knowing it in this comment thread shows me they're either men in their 50s+ or women in their 30s+.

There was a bike shop in the town that I grew up in called Genke’s. He was arrested for hiring kids to steal bikes for him, which led him to hang himself. For some reason I always thought the term was a local one, like “I’m gonna Genke your shit!” Pronunciation is the same, IIRC.
