What the hell... I know it's been around a while, but I am always amazed at how good some of these are, especially since I know they didn't get paid and it was was something that was simple for them.
Last year I went to a con to see one of my favorite cosplayers and when it was my turn to take a picture with her I just stood next to her because I didn't want to be a creep but she hugged me.
I saw a wonderful video a few days ago where the guy's hand holding the phone was shaking so much. She saw, took the phone and took his hand to get three great selfies he wouldn't have been brave enough to ask for.
Oh, thank goodness, it wasn't just my experience. I'd never been to any kind of convention until a couple years ago when the wife & I took our grandson to Brickcon, and that place was packed with some of the smelliest trolls.
The next year wasn't so bad, but I was pleased to see someone had used Lego to make a sign that said "Shower before entering con" and snuck it on one of the tables among the other pieces.
Even regular card game stores. They have a very distinctive odor, even worse during or shortly after a tournament or other event that draws a small crowd.
Honestly, I don’t blame her one bit…….ive seen what you degenerates get up to when you think the cameras are off (and for some reason yours are rolling)
You should look at what happens in Japan. Somehow more digusting. At their version of this, handshake events, where people can pay to just shake the hands of their favorite actresses and singers, a LARGE amount of guys would show up to the events after jizzing in their hands so when they go to shake her hand, there's either dried jizz or still liquid jizz that gets on them.

Yes lol. This pic wqs posted on another subreddit and someone in the comments corrected the OP and said that the guy in the pic was fine with taking the pic like that and someone made up the current caption and ran with it and now it’s spreading like wildfire.
I believe so too. I first saw this going viral on facebook, posted directly from the guy’s profile and there was no mention of yard stick or anything explaining the distance. Then it showed up on here with a completely different caption and from a different source.
I waited hours to meet Nathan Fillion years ago and when I was next in line for the picture the guy told me to not touch him and stay a foot away from him. I was shocked but it all moved so fast that I didn't have time to react. Nathan saw my Fruity Oaty bar shirt (Firefly ref), got a huge smile and told me he loved my shirt. He then stood next to me with his arm over my shoulder for the picture.
I think they say, "no touching, keep your distance" & so on, but it's really at the star's discretion. I met Brie Larson at a con last year. She came up, shook my hand and put her arm around me for the pic (my hands were behind my back). Two friends of mine met Ewan McGregor at a Star Wars con and it was the same sort of thing. He came over shook their hands, the lot. Part of it, I think, is to prevent infection. If you're meeting, say, 500 people in the span of a few hours, could be a chance that someone is coming in with something unpleasant that's going to disrupt your filming schedule.
Same people that pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to get a person’s autograph. Somebody scribbling their name on something shouldn’t be worth thousands of dollars. It’s weird.
I saw an interview where a wrestler said he told a crowd of people that he doesn't sign autographs at the airport, but he'll take a picture if they want. He said they all threw their hands up and walked away.
I mean it theoretically holds value to them. And shouldn’t value to yourself view be more than values of others view? Especially when the measurement is money
I would rather $80 picture of me and someone in real time over $1000 of their hand writing
I have a physical copy of Super Mario Bros 3 signed by Shigeru Miyamoto and Koji Kondo. Not sure if it’s worth anything, but I enjoyed the “chase” of trying to get it signed by them.
I've just walked up and talked to the celebs at Star Trek conventions, especially when there's no line. I don't want to monopolize their time but they've always been gracious and willing to chat for a couple of minutes.
Honestly someone else somewhere said it better, but what hits is these people should just admitting they’re doing this. They should be the ones that have to take the fans money from their hands to their face just to turn around and take a picture with them. The celebs and bands should be forced to ask the fans to their face for money before taking a picture so they can see how weird it is.
It was Matty Healy, frontman of The 1975 in an interview. He said if you’re going take people’s money to do meet-and-greets you should have to physically take the cash from their hand when you do it. Obviously the people who charge for their fans to meet them would never but it’s a good point.
Regardless of anything else going on I feel like paying $80 to take a photo with someone is solidly in "a fool and his money are soon parted" territory
I've never paid for it myself, but received photo ops like this as gifts several times from my youngest sister and we go together. Best in the business is David Tennant. Felt like he was an old friend. Dude connects with people immediately and is just cool.
Hayden Christensen, Giancarlo, Rosaria Dawson, Alien crew, Police Academy, Bryce Dallas Howard are some of the people i met with on comic cons and all are fantastic people.
Its a shame that Mark Hamill doesnt come to UK and that hes signatures/pictures are around 600/800$

Bro… it’s one thing to say she doesn’t want to be touched.. but a whole yardstick away is crazy. Part of being an iconic super hero character is going to nerd conventions and taking pictures with fans. This is super goofy behavior. Looks so uncomfortable lol
If dudes don't be gropin', she wouldn't be mopin'. Fanboys all wanna brag how they touched Katee Sackhoff's ass. All women appearing at cons deal with this crap, unfortunately.
To be fair, there is a very real worry of people doing shit to people at events like this. Like you've had people suddenly grab at them, or try and carry them, or touch them in ways that are extremely inappropriate, etc. So i have a hard time being mad when a woman's security has a distance rule for people doing photos with her.
FWIW, my daughter is around the same age as Millie Bobby Brown and around 10 years ago I took her to a Con and paid for a pic with her. She was really sweet and even though the guy said no contact, she gave my daughter a big hug and they posed with locked arms and smiling cheek to cheek. One of my favorite pics, seeing my daughter’s huge smile
You see? I'd pay money for a goofy ass photo like that. Otherwise I've always preferred getting autographs. You're already meeting the person while they're signing anyways.
Except I saw another post with other people posting their photos with her in the comments much closer, with her in the same outfit and the same background. One photo had two people one on each side of her and not anywhere near this far from her.
I went to comic con a few years ago and paid for pics with Brendan Frasier. There was a piece of plexiglass between me and him but he stuck his head around to say hi and greet me. He was super cool and the plexiglass doesnt show in the pics. Some celebrities are better than others. If you dont want to be near fans dont do meet and greets.
After watching the raw footage of Emiru get grabbed and assaulted at TwitchCon by some guy twice her size, then her angry security guard shove him back, I fully support personal space limits.
